Nice winner on Monday for the blog with WITH HINDSIGHT winning at 5-1,just getting home in close three way photo for £312.00 profit .

Slightly frustrating the horse did take big drift in the market ,touching as big as 8-1 ,before getting supported into 5-1 .However you can't complain with £312.00 profit .

Moving on to Wednesday we are back at Lingfield, for interesting 1M 4F (0-70) apprentice handicap at 3.20

Course specialist LADY LUNCHALOT should go well, after putting in two solid efforts over C&D recently .Looks fairly treated off mark 65  (has won off 73),should reverse form with Artistic Flight on 3LB better terms for head beating.Odds around 9-2 look solid each-way value

3.05 Wolvehampton 1M 5F 194YDS 0-75 H'cap (Mon 14th Dec)

Disappointing result on Sunday with Free Eagle, running a bitterly disappointing race in Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin .

In the race Free Eagle looked to be traveling well, in perfect position turning in to the straight ,though flattened out very quickly  .Having been well supported in market 9-2 into 5-2,It was very poor performance and £100 loss on the race .

Moving on to Monday, we are back on the All Weather at Wolverhampton, for interesting little 14F (0-75) handicap at 3.05

3.05 WOLVEHAMPTON 1M 5F 194YDS 0-75 H'CAP

QUALITY SONG : Improving 3-Y-0 ,Won 12F handicap at Wolverhampton last month off mark 66 .Also finished close 2ND last time at Wolverhampton off mark 70. Up another 3LB ,though looks open to improvement .

THOMAS BLOSSOM : Consistent sort , winning 3 out 13 on the All Weather ,returned to form last time finishing staying on 2ND over C&D in class 5 handicap .Up another 2LB ,though should be thereabouts .

VERDICT : WITH HINDSIGHT looks solid here, after winning over C&D last time .Has looked an improved performer since stepping up in trip . Looks fairly handicapped off mark 67 .Odds around 9-2 look very fair value .

The lightly raced Quality Song looks the main danger, after putting in two decent efforts over the course at  12F,though odds around 7-4 look very skinny, for horse who is unproven over this longer trip .

In the circumstances ran fair race ,after being slowly away and then not getting the best of runs, though could never get to American horse Catch A Glimpse in the closing stages. No real damage done with £10.00 loss on the bet ,though could do with winner, to end A frustrating run recently.

ALMELA : Beautifully bred Sea The Stars filly, Bolted up on debut in weak Maiden over C&D at Galway in August ,beating 67 rated rival by 19 lenghs .Not easy to assess on that form ,though couldn't been more impressive .Takes big step up in class ,though open to any amount of improvement.

VERDICT :The well bred Almela is going be all the rage here ,having won by 19 lenghs over C&D last time, though that was very weak maiden race ,and faces much stiffer task in listed company .Has to be respected ,though odds around 11-10 make no appeal .

At the prices ZHUKOVA looks over priced at 15-2,after finishing promising 4TH in group 3 company at Cork last time .That was decent effort on only her third start.Looks open to plenty improvement over this trip.

KING OF ROOKS : Won two from 6 starts .Looked a smart prospect when bolting up in National stakes listed race at Sandown in May by 5L.However hasn't really progressed on last three starts in group company, though still sets the standard on his National Stakes form.

ROULEAU : Improving sort ,Won 2 from 5 starts, both over 6F,including winning Nursery handicap at Ascot under top weight off mark 85 .Shown progressive form on last two starts , finishing close second in listed race at York last time over 5F (finishing well) .The return to 6F looks sure to suit .

ROULEAU can reverse form with King Of Rooks over this longer trip .Both career wins have come over 6 furlongs and should have no problem with this polytrack surface ,having won on the tapeta at Wolverhampton .Still looks open to plenty improvement over this trip .Odds around 3-1 look very fair.

The blog returns after bit of summer break.2015 has been stop start year for the blog.Finding time to write regular blog has been difficult this year .With having deal with two family bereavements in last 12 months .Hopefully we can get back on track, and there should be regular posts over the next few weeks.

Moving on to Saturday we have some decent racing, with the G2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood being the feature race ,though bit of disappointing turn out, with only six runners declared .Odds on favourite Kodi Bear should be difficult to beat .

DINKUM DIAMOND : Won five from 41 starts ,though not won since winning Listed race at Doncaster in March 2014 .Finished good fourth in Stewards Cup at Glorious Goodwood last time off mark 102 .Should be thereabouts ,though not easy to win with these days .

PORTAMENTO : Progressive three year old ,winning five from 12 starts .Won class two handicap at Chester in July off mark 102 .Finished fair fourth in 6 furlong listed race at Chester last time ,behind the useful Eastern Impact .That looked fair effort from not the best of draws .Seems to Handle any ground.

LUCKY KRISTALE : Had some useful form as two year old ,winning two group 2 races ,including Lowther stakes at York . Showed very little as three year old  ,though bounced back to form last time finishing excellent second in Summer Stakes at York, behind New Providence .Obvious claims if she can reproduce that form .

VERDICT : Lucky Kristale will be popular here, after only beaten head in group three company last time at York ,though hasn't won for over two years and not the most reliable filly.

At the prices PORTAMENTO looks the each-way value here at around 11-2, after finishing  fourth at Chester last time, that looked decent effort, as was forced to race very wide throughout from poor draw ,and was only beaten 1.75 lenghs .Has shown solid form in listed/group company, and should go well for inform Charlie Appleby stable .

VERDICT : Interesting race that clearly revolves around Kodi Bear ,who's head and shoulders above these rivals on last years Dewhurst form ,though there is question mark over this longer trip on ground this quick .Could easily outclass this field ,though odds around 7-4, look short enough on first start for 8 months .

Royal Ascot Day 3 Ascot Gold Cup (Thu 18th June )

Very frustrating day on Wednesday, with the days only bet The Grey Gatsby a desperately unlucky loser in Prince Of Wales Stakes, failing by short head .With anything like clear run would clearly won the race .Small profit on the race , though no consolation when you miss out on 13-2 winner.

TRIP TO PARIS : Been in great form this season in handicap company ,landing hatrick in Chester Cup in May off mark 95 .Finished creditable second in G3 Henry 11 stakes at Sandown last time .This longer trip shouldn't be problem, though has to reverse form with Vent De Force.

VENT DE FORCE : Improving sort ,winning 4 from 10 .Won G3 Henry 11 stakes at Sandown last time in good style, beating Trip To Paris .Looks open to plenty improvement over this kind trip .Each-way claims .

CHANNOCK CHASE : Progressive sort winning 3 out 6 ,including winning  over C&D at Royal Ascot in G3 Terecentenary Stakes last year .Been slightly disappointing this season when finishing third in Gordon Richard Stakes & Second in Huxley Stakes at Chester .Will be suited returning to Ascot on faster ground, though will need big improvement to land this G1 race .

FREE EAGLE : Lightly raced four year old ,winning 2 from 4 .including winning group three contest at Leopardstown by 7 lenghs .Finished excellent third in Champion Stakes at Ascot on final start last season .Should go well, if fully fit on seasonal reappearance .

THE GREY GATSBY :Had some very useful form last season over 10 furlongs ,including winning Dante Stakes , French Derby & Irish Champion Stakes .Not looked as good so far this season, though was beaten on first two starts last season .Obvious claims if reproducing last seasons form .

VERDICT : THE GREY GATSBY looks decent each-way value here .On last seasons top G1 form ,would take all the beating .On official BHA ratings is 6LB clear and looks the value bet at around 13-2.

SOLE POWER : Excellent record over 5 furlongs on fast ground. Won this race for last two years and looked good as ever when winning the Al Quoz at Meydan in March ,can be forgiven for poor effort at Curragh last time over 6 furlongs .Looks to have ideal conditions here and should make bold bid to land the hatrick .

SHAMAL WIND : Useful Australian sprinter winning 8 from 24 starts.Produced career best effort last time when winning grade one handicap at Caufield last time .Still looks to be improving ,though not in same league as some former Australian sprinters ,that won at Royal Ascot .

This straight mile on stiffer track will be different test .

NEW PROVIDENCE : Progressive three year old ,winning 3 from 7 .Won 6F group 3 contest at Salisbury in September .Finished very good second in Neil Gwyn at Newmarket in April ,only beat short head by Osaila .Looks open to plenty improvement this season .

VERDICT: Lightning Thunder is 4LB clear on official ratings and will take plenty beating if repeating last years guineas form ,though there has to be question mark after disappointing  on last two starts .

AL THAKHIRA looks very solid here after making promising reappearance at Wolverhampton in March .Showed some useful form last season in group three company and looks to have ideal conditions here (7F with cut in the ground ) Can land this group three contest. Odds around 9-2 look fair value .

New Providence looks the main danger after finishing very good 2ND in Nell Gwyn at Newmarket last time and looks sure to win more races this season .

Greenham Stakes (group 3 ) 7 furlongs (Sat 18th April )

On Saturday we have very decent card from Newbury featuring three group 3 races ,for blogs main bet we will be concentrating on the 7 furlong  Greenham Stakes at 2.50 for 3-Y-0 colts & geldings.

BELARDO : Won 3 out 5 last season ,including winning Washington Singer listed stakes over C&D in August .Showed big improvement on final start last season ,winning group one Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on soft ground .Should be thereabouts ,though has reverse form with Ivawood on earlier form, and seems better horse on softer ground .

ESTIDHKAAR : Progressive sort last season ,winning 3 from 5 ,including winning both group two Superlative stakes at Newmarket & Champagne Stakes at Doncaster .Disappointed on final start of the season when finishing well fourth behind Belardo in Dewhurst .Looked unsuited by the soft ground that day .Needs bounce back ,though will be suited by this better ground .

IVAWOOD : Useful sort last season ,winning 3 out 4 , including winning G2 July stakes at Newmarket & G2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood both over 6 furlongs .Only defeat came on soft ground in 6 furlong Middle Park stakes at Newmarket when odds on favourite, just getting touched off by Charming Thought by nose .Faster ground will suit, and should stay this longer trip .

VERDICT:  Ivawood is clear second favourite for 2000 guineas and will be popular here with Hannon team already striking form in two guineas trials this week ,ground conditions will suit and the longer trip shouldn't be problem, though doesn't have much in hand on the figures and top price of 7-4 look too short .

ESTIDHKAAR will need bounce back after poor run in Dewhurst ,though  had some useful form last season, winning two group 2 races over 7F .Will also be suited by this faster ground and looks the each-way value against the short price stablemate.

VERDICT : This looks very weak fillies & mares group two contest, and on official ratings looks no better than listed contest .With highest rated 105 .

Irish mare SLIPPER ORCHID looks the each-way value at around 5-1 mark. She won't need to improve much on her close fifth ,off mark 100 over C&D at Meydan two weeks ago.Should be spot on with that run under her belt ,with cheekpieces back on .

The main danger looks to be the French Filly Cladocera who has shown decent form in Listed company and looks open to plenty improvement after just five starts .

The Blog Returns for 6th year with fresh approach for 2015

Looking back at 2014 ,not the most successful year for the blog, with just £546.00 /5.46 pts profit on the year (13 winners from 51 bets) ROI +11.11%

Having started the year well ,things tailed off badly in second half of the year, though having to deal with sudden family bereavement in August didn't help matters, probably a mistake continuing the blog selections ,when your mind is not focused on horse racing .

On positive note this was the fifth consecutive winning year for the blog, with total profits £8814 / 88.14 points  bets since the blog started in February 2010 .Hopefully 2015 will be much better year on all fronts .

In the past I have focused on non handicap flat races for the blog selections  ,though finding value selections has got more and more difficult over last two seasons ,with small fields being major problem for each-way bets in non handicap races, especially on the All Weather .

From 2015 I will be making changes to the blog, and concentrating mainly on handicap races and pattern races, where I hold mathematical edge, the same principal will apply, finding value each-way bets in uncompetitive races .

For blogs first bet in 2015, we go to Lingfield for interesting looking 2 mile handicap on the poly track at 4.00 .

4.00 LINGFIELD 2 MILE 0-65 CLASS 6 HANDICAP :
9 runners declared for 2 mile 0-65 handicap at Lingfield ,not the most competitive staying handicap the three main contenders are Shadipour,Mighty Mambo & Dukes Den .

SHADARPOUR :Won three times over hurdles ,lightly raced on the All Weather though has put in two decent efforts ,including finishing short head second  in this race last year .Finished fair third in 2 mile 0-75 handicap at Kempton in November behind Strawberry Martini .Should go well off 3LB higher mark. Will also be suited dropping down too class 6 company .

MIGHTY MAMBO : Consistent sort on All Weather, with one win and 7 places from 10 starts ,won 2 mile handicap at Kempton  off mark 55 ,last February. Also finished fair second last time in 2 mile handicap at Kempton, off mark 60 .Should be thereabouts off same mark.

DUKES DEN : Won 2 mile handicap at Wolverhampton in good style back in December off mark 56 , though finished disappointing sixth, off 6LB higher mark when favourite for 2 mile handicap over C&D last time at Lingfield .Needs too bounce back in first time blinkers .

VERDICT : SHADARPOUR is better known as fair handicap hurdler ,though looks more than capable of winning 0-65 handicap on polytrack .Finished good second over C/D in this race last year and also ran creditable third in better race at Kempton in November .Can land this weak looking 2 mile handicap.Odds around 4-1 look very fair .

Mighty Mambo looks the main danger, has been knocking on the door in 2 mile handicaps  ,however is not easy horse too win with .1 out 10  on All Weather ,though still has solid each-way chance .

Of the others Takeitfromalady is surprising 7-2 favourite here, having not won for over two years and yet to win on All Weather in 11 starts ,also far from certain to stay this 2 mile trip.
