The 2k to 10k betting challenge continues on Good Friday,with All Weather Championship finals day from Lingfield Park.
The betting bankroll now stands at £2410 after My Target finished second in class three handicap at Lingfield on Saturday,for small loss of £6.00 .Ran fair enough race,finishing well in closing stages, though could never quite get to the Richard Hannon trained Wahash.The Stakes remain at £96.00.
As usual I will be making the 150 mile trip, early on Friday morning from the East Coast to Lingfield, for what should be excellent days racing on finals day.For the Betting challenge we going concentrate on All Weather Marathon Championship at 2.00 .
9 runners declared for the £150,000 guaranteed 2 miles Condition stakes .This looks high quality staying contest, the four main contenders are Funny Kid, Red Verdon , Watersmeet & Mountain Bell .
FUNNY KID : 5-Y-0 Bay French Horse,winning 3 out 8 on All Weather .Shown progressive form this season,including winning decent 12f handicap on poly track at Deauville in November.Also finished close second in 2 mile (Fast Track Qualifier) conditions race at Wolverhampton January.Looks open to further improvement over 2 miles.Interesting contender .
RED VERDON : 5-Y-0 Chestnut Horse, winning 3 out 6 on All Weather .Been in good form this winter,including winning 12f Wild Flower Listed race at Kempton in November .Also won 12f condition race at Lingfield last time .Takes big step up in distance,though solid claims if staying this 2 mile trip.
WATERSMEET : 7-Y-0 Grey Gelding ,winning 11 out 21 on All Weather .Been in excellent form this winter,landing a hatrick at Kempton in February ,including winning two Fast Track Qualifiers.Also finished creditable second in this race last year .Goes well here at Lingfield.Solid claims .
MOUNTAIN BELL : 5-Y-0 Bay Mare ,winning 1 out 2 on All Weather.Had some decent form on turf last season ,including winning listed race and finishing second in group three Simon Stakes .Lightly raced on All Weather , though won 2 mile Fast Track Qualifier at Newcastle in December.Looks open to improvement over staying trips .
VERDICT : WATERSMEET should go well in the Marathon,has an excellent record over 2 miles on All Weather (winning 4 out 6) (111321) ,including breaking the course record at Wolverhampton in January .Also has good record here at Lingfield ,with three course victories.Odds around 7-2 look very fair each-way value .
The French raider Funny Kid looks the main danger ,after finishing just neck behind Watersmeet at Wolverhampton in January .Has shown some useful form in France ,and looks unexposed over 2 mile trip .
