Friday 31st January Claiming Stakes Bet !!!

For Friday's main bet we go to Lingfield for interesting looking 7 furlong claimer at 1.00

1.00 LINGFIELD 7 FURLONG CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6:
9 runners declared for 7 furlong claimer on poly track at Lingfield .This doesn't look bad claimer for this grade ,with the three main contenders : Capail Liath ,Mr David & Kuanyao.

CAPAIL LIATH : Fair performer on his day ,winning three times in 2013 .Won 7 furlong claimer at Kempton in December .Also finished fair second last time behind useful claiming performer Tellovoi. Not badly treated at the weights and should be thereabouts .

MR DAVID : Inconsistent 7 year old gelding ,though more than capable in this grade .Won class three handicap over C&D in December off mark 82.Also finished close fourth last time in class 4  handicap over C/D off mark 85 .Obvious claims if reproducing that form ,though doesn't have greatest record in claiming company 1 out 6 .

KUANYAO : Excellent record on poly track winning 6 out 12 .Goes well here at Lingfield winning three times .Ran shocker last time finishing last of seven in 6 furlong handicap at Lingfield ,though will be suited returning to claiming company .

VERDICT : Mr David is 4LB clear on official ratings ,and would be difficult to beat if reproducing his recent C&D handicap form ,though has been beaten on his last four starts in claiming company and looks worth opposing at around 11-8

KUANYAO will need bounce back after poor run last time ,though has excellent record on poly track 6 out 12 and is unbeaten in claimers 2 out 2 .Will not be inconvenienced by the return to 7 furlongs .Odds around 5-1 look good each-way value .

Thursday 30th January Al Rashidiya group two bet

The racing on All Weather this week can only be described as dire with no suitable betting opportunities. However we do have decent looking card from Meydan on Thursday .Going concentrate on the feature race the group two Al Rashidiya over 9 furlongs .

5.00 MEYDAN 9 FURLONG AL RASHIDIYA GROUP TWO:
12 runners declared for group two Al Rashidiya over 9 furlongs .This looks competitive group two contest the three main contenders look to be Mushreq, Tasaday & Steeler .

MUSHREQ :Good record at Meydan winning 3 out 7 ,impressive winner of group two Al Fahidi over 10 furlongs last February beating Master Of Hounds by three lenghs .Also good winner on his first start this season winning listed race over C/D .Obvious claims with ideal conditions

TASADAY : Had some decent form in France last season for Andre Fabre ,winning two filly group races ,also finished close second in group one Prix de L 'Opera behind Dalkala .Has first start for S.Bin Suroor .

STEELER :Decent sort for Mark Johnstone in 2012 ,winning group two Royal Lodge and finishing decent third in group one Racing Post Trophy .Finished fair fourth on first start for 18 months behind Shuruq in group two contest.

VERDICT :  MUSHREQ looks solid here after winning decent looking listed race last time .That form has been boosted with second Gabrial winning good handicap next time off mark 106 .Has also won in group two company last season and looks the one beat .

Steeler looks main danger after making very promising reappearance on his first start for Charlie Appelby ,had some very decent form as two year old for Mark Johnstone and should be suited returning to turf .

Weekly Results Round Up

Quiet week with just one bet for blog, with disappointing result on Wednesday. Theology finishing unplaced in 2 mile conditions stakes at Lingfield .After being well supported in market 5-1 into 3-1 ,could only finish sixth after making the running ,folding tamely in straight, beaten over 17 lenghs .

Looking back at the race,Theology failed to reproduce anything like his best form here ,not sure if he went too fast in early stages,as Arch Villain went on to break the course record .Most disappointing effort as Theology had beaten the winner over C&D last time .Even allowing for turn around in weights ,there shouldn't been much between the pair .

Nevermind goes down as £100.00 loss on the week, though overall its been fair month so far with over £560.00 profit, going into the final week of the month .

Wednesday 22nd January Conditions Stakes Bet !!!

For Wednesday's best bet we go to Lingfield for high quality looking two mile conditions race at 2.30

10 runners declared for class two conditions race over 2 miles on poly track .This looks competitive race on official figures the three main contenders look to be Arch Villain, Mr Burbidge & Theology

ARCH VILLAIN :Good record on poly track 4 out 8 ,won 2 mile class two handicap at Kempton in November beating Theology just under lengh off mark 90 .Slightly disappointing last time when finishing 2.5 lengh fourth behind Theology over C&D .Has highest official BHA rating 94 and has to be respected .

MR BURBIDGE : Been in great form landing five timer at Southwell last time in 12 furlong handicap off mark 81 . The return to 2 miles will suit ,though takes big step up in class and will need career best effort to win this class two event ,

THEOLOGY : Poor strike rate on turf  1 out 19,though had some useful form including finishing placed in group three & Listed company .Returned to form when switching to poly track winning class two handicap over C&D at Lingfield last time, off mark 89 .Should go well in this conditions event.

VERDICT : Arch Villain has to be respected here with such good record on poly track, though seemed to be beaten fair & square last time at Lingfield .Has 5lb pull in weights for 2.5 lengh beating by Theology  ,though may struggle to reverse form .

THEOLOGY is proven performer in class two company and looked well suited to this course & distance when winning class two handicap last time . Can confirm form with main rival Arch Villain on 5lb worse terms .Odds around 5-1 look good value .

Weekly Results Round Up

Disappointing result on Friday for blog with Drawnfromthepast running awful race in 6 furlong claiming stakes at Lingfield finishing last of 8 for £100.00 loss on the race .

Not sure what happened there as the horse had been in good form on his last two starts at the track ,though did drift like barge on betfair just before off ,going off 12-1 .When betting in these low class races you have to take the good with bad ,as they can throw in these bad races from time to time.

Overall its  been decent week with £260.00 profit .The first bet of the week was on Wednesday in 7 furlong three year old claiming stakes at Lingfield .£50.00 each-way bet on AIN'T NO SURPRISE at 7-2 best price guarantee ,though was weak in the market going off SP 5-1 .

Ran solid enough race in second ,after being slowly away did finish well for second place ,though never really looked like catching the winner Kantara Castle .No damage done, with money back .

On Thursday we had the first bet of Dubai Carnival on UNITED COLOR in 6 furlongs Dubawi Listed stakes at Meydan, after making promising debut two weeks ago at Jebel Ali.

UNITED COLOR looked overpriced at 6-1 in the race, having fitness advantage over all his main rivals. £50.00 each-way at 6-1 was the bet with Corals.Well supported in market going off 9-2 second favourite, after travelling well in the race led two furlongs out and held on well in closing stages beating Russian Soul by neck. For tidy £360.00 profit on the race .

Weekly results round up :

Friday 17th January Claiming Stakes Bet !!!

Good result for blog on Thursday with UNITED COLOR winning feature race at Meydan  at recommended 6-1 for tidy £360.00 profit on the day .

Moving on to Friday for days best bet we go to Lingfield for interesting looking 6 furlong claiming stakes at 1.00 .

1.00 LINGFIELD 6F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6:
8 runners declared for 6 furlong claiming stakes on poly track at Lingfield .Not bad little contest for this grade .The three main contenders are Kuanyao , Hamoody & Drawnfromthepast .

KUANYAO : Good strike rate on All Weather 5 out 10 .Been in good form recently for Dandy Nichols ,including winning 7 furlong handicap at Lingfield in December off mark 68  .Has first start for Lee Carter after being claimed in seller for £6000 .

HAMOODY : Good record in claiming company last season winning 4 out 8 .Won claimer over 5 furlongs in December ,though ran stinker last time at Wolverhampton in 5 furlong claimer when short price favourite . Looks well treated at the weights ,though will need bounce back after poor run last time.

DRAWNFROMTHEPAST :Four time course winner at Lingfield all in claiming company .Been in good form recently finishing second on last two starts at Lingfield in class 5 handicaps off mark 68.Has bit to find strictly at weights ,though very rarely runs bad race at Lingfield in this grade.

VERDICT : Hamoody is clear pick of weights with official rating of 80 and would be difficult to beat if reproducing his Lingfield form, though ran such poor race last time at Wolverhampton and seems better over five furlongs these days .

DRAWNFROMTHEPAST has bit to find on official ratings ,though has put in two solid efforts in handicap company recently and his last four victories at Lingfield have come in claiming company .Looks the each-way value at around 5-1 mark .

Of the others Kuanyao has been in good form and can't be ruled out, looks well drawn in stall one for front runner . However this looks lot stronger race than the seller he finished second in last time  .

Thursday 16th January Dubawi Listed Stakes Bet !!!

For best bet on Thursday we go to Dubai for 6 furlong listed race at Meydan .

4.50 MEYDAN 6 FURLONG DUBAWI LISTED STAKES
9 runners declared for high quality looking listed race at Meydan .This looks cracking listed race,  with the three main contenders look to be Reynaldothewizard ,Balmont Mast & United Color .

REYNALDOTHEWIZARD :Course specialist winning 6 out 12 at Meydan. Unbeaten last season winning all three starts ,including winning group one Golden Sheema at Meydan in March ,with main rivals Balmont Mast, Krypton Factor & United Colour behind .

BALMONT MAST : Useful Irish six year old gelding ,won 6 furlong listed race at Curragh in October. Ran some good races last season at Meydan, including finishing close second in Golden Sheema behind Reynaldothewizard.Obvious claims with conditions to suit .

UNITED COLOR : Improving five year old , Won handicap over C&D last February off mark 107 & far from disgraced when finishing fifth of 13 in G1 Golden Sheema behind Reynaldothewizard .Ran good second last time behind the useful Muarrab  in conditions race at Jebel Ali two weeks ago .

VERDICT : Reynaldothewizard is clearly the one to beat on last seasons G1 Golden Sheema form, though was well beaten on his first start last season at Meydan and may just need this run after 10 month absence .

With fitness advantage over his main rivals UNITED COLOR looks each-way value here at around 6-1 .Had some useful form last season at Meydan and made promising reappearance last time at Jebel Ali.Should go well in this listed contest.

Of the others Balmont Mast can't be ruled out on his form at Meydan last season and has each-way claims for in form Edward Lynam stable.

Wednesday 15th January Claiming Stakes Bet !!!

Sad Sad news with ST NICHOLAS ABBEY losing his six month battle against injury and illness after suffering from colic on Tuesday morning .

ST NICHOLAS ABBEY was winner of £5 million in prize money ,which included three Coronation Cups ,Breeders Cup Turf , Sheema Classic & Racing Post Trophy .One of great racehorses of last decade .Will be sadly missed (ST NICOLAS ABBEY 2007-14 RIP )

Moving on to Wednesday for days best bet we go to Lingfield for 7 furlong three year old claiming stakes at 1.00 .

1.00 LINGFIELD 7F 3-Y-0 CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6:
10 runners declared for three year old claiming stakes on poly track . This doesn't look the strongest claimer with the three main contenders being Kantara Castle , Ain't No Surprise & Dancing Sal .

KANTARA CASTLE : Won four runner 9 furlong claimer at Wolverhampton last time beating Jazzy Lady by half lengh , that didn't look strongest race with Jazzy Lady finishing  last of four next time .The drop back in trip has to be concern .

AIN'T NO SURPRISE : Consistent sort ,though still maiden after seven starts .Finished second on last three starts over 6/7 furlongs . Also ran her best race here at Lingfield finishing 1.75 lengh second to Aspirant .The return to 7 furlongs should suit .

DANCING SAL : Maiden after 16 starts , has been placed six times .Including finishing second in two 6 furlong handicaps at Wolverhampton recently . Looks well treated at weights off bottom weight , though this longer trip may not suit .

VERDICT : Kantara Castle will be popular for Richard Hannon in such weak race  ,after winning claimer last time at Wolverhampton ,though that looked poor race and drop back in trip has to be concern .

AIN'T NO SURPRISE looks the each-way value in weak race, has twice finished second to 75 rated Aspirant .Will also be suited returning to 7 furlongs and doesn't look badly treated off 8 stone 10 .Odds around 7-2 look fair value .

Weekly Results Round Up !!!

As usual January has been quiet month for the blog ,though the month has started well with two winners from two bets .With Powerful Pierre & Shawkantango both winning at 3-1 & 4-1 for profit in January £403.00

Just the one bet this week on Thursday in five furlong claiming stakes at Southwell .This was meant to be in running bet on course specialist Shawkantango at 5.00 on betfair, though took big drift in market pre race going off 5.11 ,so no problem getting matched .

In fact Shawkantango traded high 9 in running, which was no surprise as this horse always needs driving along in early stages, and often trades double digit price when winning . However it never pays to get too greedy with these in running prices and I was more than happy with 4-1 .

Shawkantango is always worth second look at Southwell over five furlongs.Especially in claimers or class 5 or 6 handicaps Winning 7 from 14 starts, with in running prices  (9) (24) (3.85) (4) (8.80) (55 ) (110).

Looking ahead to this week ,not much happening on All Weather till later in the week ,though I do expect some action on Thursday, which includes couple decent races at Meydan, plus interesting claimer from Wolverhampton .

Thursday 9th January Claiming Stakes Bet !!!

For Thursday's best bet we go to Southwell for interesting little  5 furlong 0-70 classified claiming stakes on fibresand.

12.50 SOUTHWELL 5F CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES 0-70 CLASS 6:

8 runners declared for 5 furlong 0-70 classified claiming stakes on fibresand at Southwell .The three main contenders are Shawkantango ,Quality Art & R Woody

SHAWKANTANGO : Six time course & distance winner at Southwell ,Been in good form winning two of last three starts, including winning classified claimer over C&D at Southwell last time .Should go well in similar race & goes particularly well for claimer Adam Mclean .

QUALITY ART :Won handicap over C&D at Southwell in December off mark 60 ,though after travelling well found very little in closing stages last time when finishing third behind Shawkantango in claimer over C&D .Should be thereabouts ,though has bit to find at these weights.

R WOODY : C&D winner at Southwell ,Finished fair second in claimer at Wolverhampton last time behind Dark Lane , not the easiest horse to win with, 1 win from last 20 starts .Though fairly treated at weights and can't be ruled out in weak race .

VERDICT : Course specialist SHAWKANTANGO can record this seventh  course & distance win at Southwell .As normal he needed plenty rousting along when winning claimer last time, though was well on top at the finish .Looks the one to beat in weak looking race.

SHAWKANTANGO 12.50 SOUTHWELL
£50.00 WIN @ 5.00 BETFAIR*
£50.00 PLACE @ 1.70 BETFAIR*

Keep in play*

Traded high 8-1 in running. Betfair SP 5.11 .All bets matched :-)
(WINNER SP 3-1 PROFIT £223.00 )

Slightly unusual bet here SHAWKANTANGO always trades bigger in running so the recommended bet is to back in running  at (5.00)  for win & (1.70) for place .Has traded high (24) (14) (3.85) (12) (12) (15) for his last 6 wins all lot bigger than his SP .

Current odds are 11-4 ,though I expect to comfortably get matched at 4-1 in running as he always needs rousting along in early stages and traded at high  23-1 when winning last time here at Southwell.

Monday 6th January each-way double bet !!!

Just quick update Saturday's bet on Gabrial The Boss was non runner ,slightly frustrating as he had beaten the winner Ocean Applause comfortably at Kempton two weeks ago .Nevermind overall good start to the year with last weeks only bet Powerful Pierre winning at 3-1 for £180.00 profit on the week .

Looking ahead to this week no bets on the blog till Thursday ,though on my other blog ,we have recommended each-way double bet for today .

Saturday 4th January Claiming Stakes Bet !!!

Good start to the year with Powerful Pierre winning 6 furlong claiming stakes at Wolverhampton on Thursday at 3-1 for £180.00 profit .Given excellent ride by Jacob Butterfield .

Moving on to Saturday for days best bet on All Weather ,we go to Lingfield for 10 furlong 0-70 classified claimer at 11.50 .

12 runners declared for competitive 10 furlong 0-70 classified  claimer. The three main contenders here look to be Ocean Applause , Copperwood & Gabrial The Boss .

OCEAN APPLAUSE : Inconsistent 4 year old gelding ,though returned to form last time, winning 1 mile seller at Lingfield beating Prime Exhibit . Not badly treated at weights ,though this longer trip is major concern .

COPPERWOOD : Course specialist with six wins at Lingfield .Returned to form winning seller over C&D last month beating Honey Of Kitten .Finished fifth of 8 in 1 mile seller behind Ocean Applause last time ,though not given the best of rides by inexperienced 7lb claimer . Will be suited returning to this longer trip .

GABRIAL THE BOSS : Dual course winner ,landed four timer around this time last year ,including handicap over C&D off mark 74 .Back to form last time finishing second in 1 mile claimer at Kempton behind Wake Up Little Suzy, with Ocean Applause back in third . Looks very well treated off 8 stone 1lb.

VERDICT : GABRIAL THE BOSS had some fair form  last season and looked on the way back last time at Kempton and makes plenty appeal in claimer off bottom weight .Odds around 9-2 look very fair value .

Ocean Applause has to be respected ,though would made more appeal over 1 mile , has never really convinced over 10 furlongs and has to reverse form with Gabrial The Boss

Copperwood has fair record at Lingfield and has each-way claims returning to this longer trip with Jimmy Quinn replacing the inexperienced 7lb claimer.

GABRIAL THE BOSS 11.50 LINGFIELD

Thursday 2nd January Claiming Stakes Bet !!!

On Thursday we have two All weather cards from Southwell & Wolvehampton. For days main bet we go to Wolverhampton for interesting little 0-75 claiming stakes at 6.20.

6.20 WOLVERHAMPTON 6F CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES 0-75:
9 runners go to post for competitive looking claimer .The three main contenders are George Fenton , Powerful Pierre & Haadeeth .

GEORGE FENTON : Six time course winner at Wolverhampton ,won 7 furlong handicap at Woverhampton last month off mark 74 .Slightly disappointing last time when only fifth behind Powerful Pierre on boxing day over 7 furlongs .Obvious claims dropping into claiming company .

POWERFUL PIERRE : Course specialist winning 7 times at Wolverhampton .Been in great form recently winning 4 of last 6 starts .Won 7 furlong handicap at Wolverhampton last time as normal coming from well off pace.Should go well especially if there's decent pace .

HAADEETH : Dual C&D winner at Wolverhampton ,won 6 furlong handicap at Wolverhampton back in November off mark 65 ,not badly treated at weights, normally goes well here at Wolverhampton, though not the most consistent of performers .

VERDICT : The in form  POWERFUL PIERRE can record his eighth course win at Wolverhampton .Has been in great form recently and had main rival George Fenton  4 lenghs behind last time at Wolverhampton .Goes particularly well for 5LB claimer Jacob Butterfield who has been aboard for last four wins . Odds around 3-1 look fair value .

George Fenton has to be respected with ideal conditions ,though has been bit disappointing on his last two starts and will struggle to reverse form with Powerful Pierre even on 5LB better terms.

Of the others Haadeeth has each-way claims if reproducing his best form, though will need to bounce back after disappointing run at Lingfield last time .
