Weekly results / round up !!

The last two months have been very quiet with very few suitable betting opportunities in the claiming races. With only four bets in the last 8 weeks.

The lack of runners has been the major problem this winter on the All Weather ,especially in the claimers with most races having 6 or less runners .Finding any kind of value in such small fields has  not been easy.

After waiting over two weeks since the last bet we did  have a bet on Thursday in 1 mile claiming stakes at Kempton on course specialist APRIL FOOL and this one was well worth waiting for, winning  by incredible 10 lenghs at nice price of 15-2 for £468 / 4.68 pts profit .

With flat turf season starting next Saturday we should start to see more opportunities in the claimers with a lot bigger field sizes.

Overall its been very solid start to the year with profit +£1435 / 14.35 ( 14 BETS with 6 WINNERS for strike rate 42.91 % and ROI +57.47 %)

THE RESULTS :

ON THE WEEK :

Thursdays best bets !!

March has been another very quiet month with very few blog posts over the last few weeks. With very few betting opportunities in the claiming races its just been waiting game. With the start of flat turf season only nine days away ,we should now start to see  more betting opportunities over upcoming weeks .

Moving onto Thursdays racing we do have one claiming race at Kempton's evening fixture over 1 mile .

6.00 KEMPTON 1 MILE CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 :
Just six runners declared for 1 mile claimer on poly track at Kempton .The two main contenders look to be Red Somerset & April Fool

RED SOMERSET : In good form this winter winning his last three races in selling company.Won with bit to spare last time beating Dazzling Fortune by neck .Looks sure to go well in this claimer ,though this does look stronger race .

APRIL FOOL : Course specialist with five wins here at Kempton .Won 7F handicap here at Kempton back in January off mark 69 beating Katmai River by 3.5 lenghs .Has looked bit disappointing on his last three starts ,though has good record in claiming company and always dangerous if getting easy lead .

VERDICT : Red Somerset will be difficult to beat after landing a hatrick of selling wins ,though this does looks a bit stronger race and odds around evens look very short for horse beaten in his last two starts in claiming company .

APRIL FOOL needs to bounce back after couple disappointing runs ,though  does know how to win in this grade having won four claimers in 2011 .Being the only confirmed front runner in the race ,could take some catching if he gets uncontested lead .Odds around 7-1 look very fair value in this small field .

THURSDAY'S BEST BET :
APRIL FOOL 6.00 KEMPTON
( WINNER SP 15-2 PROFIT + £468.75 / 4.68 )
0.50 PTS EACH-WAY @ 7-1 BET365 *BEST PRICE GUARANTEE

*Staking £100 per point 1 to 3 points.

Tuesday's claiming analysis !!!

All eyes will be on the Cheltenham Festival over the next four days where there should be some fantastic racing .

Good luck to all the bloggers out there with all there selections over the next four days .I will be following closely and it will be interesting how many come out with profit over next four days .The racing at Cheltenham festival is very competitive and never easy to come out on top .

Moving quickly on we have one flat card on Tuesday on fibresand at Southwell with 7F claiming stakes at 2.30

2.30 SOUTHWELL 1M CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Just six runners declared for 1 mile claiming stakes at Southwell .This looks very weak claimer with the two main contenders being Fibs & Flannel  & Ace Of Spies

FIBS AND FLANNEL : Won 7F selling handicap at Southwell back in January beating Dunmore Boy by half -a-lengh off mark 60 .Been disappointing on his last three starts in handicap company ,though will be suited dropping into claiming company for first time.

ACE OF SPIES : Three time course winner here at Southwell over 6 & 7 furlongs and been running consistently this winter finishing placed four times ,though is on long losing run of 32 races .This longer trip is also big concern having never won at 1 mile.

VERDICT : Question marks about all six runners here .Ace Of Spies very rarely runs bad race at Southwell ,though has very poor record over 1 mile or further (0 from 14) .This does look particularly weak race ,so can't be  ruled out.

FIBS AND FLANNEL has to bounce back after couple disappointing runs on poly track ,though does act on fibresand and has won over this trip .Looks the most likely winner ,though not betting race for me with so many question marks .

Weekly results / round up !!

This week we had just the one bet on Wednesday in 12 furlong claiming stakes at Lingfield . Thundering Home was bit disappointing only finishing fourth in that claimer for loss £100 /1.00

Its been quiet start to March with only one bet so far this month ,hopefully there will be a few more  opportunities before the turf season starts in April .

Overall its been solid start to the year from small number of bets .With just 13 bets so far this year ( 5 winners ) for profit £967/9.67 pts .

THE RESULTS :

ON THE WEEK :
1 BET ) 0 WINNER ) LOSS -£100 / 1.00 PTS

OVERALL AFTER WEEK 10 :

Saturdays Claiming Analysis !!

One flat card on Saturday on poly track at Wolverhampton and we have five furlong claiming stakes at 4.40 .

4.40 WOLVERHAMPTON 5F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 5
Six runners declared for 5F classified claimer at Wolverhampton .On official handicap ratings this looks match between Steelcut & Angelo Poliziano

STEELCUT : Four time course winner at Wolverhampton and won this race last year .Been knocking on the door recently finishing close second on his last three starts .Looks sure to go well with ideal conditions.

ANGELO POLIZIANO :Dual C&D winner at Wolverhampton ,finished good second over C&D last time in above average claimer behind Desert Strike .Not the most consistent of performers ,though looks well treated at the weights .

VERDICT : Both Steelcut & Angelo Poliziano look very closely matched at these weights .Angelo Poliziano looks big danger after decent run last time, though is not always that reliable.

Slight Preference is for STEELCUT who has put in three solid runs at Wolverhampton this year and goes well in this grade having won three claimers . At best price 13-8 this morning that's about the right price, though not a betting race for me at those odds.

Thursday's claiming analysis !!!

Slightly disappointing result on Wednesday with Thundering Home only managing fourth in 1 mile 4F claiming stakes at Lingfield .In a race run at very slow pace 5.55 seconds slower than standard.

Thundering Home appeared unsuited by the slow pace ,though only beaten half-a-lengh, never really looked like getting to the leaders in closing stages off such slow pace .Loss on the day £100 .

Daniel Thomas a horse who I thought would struggle over this longer trip, went on to win the race by head ,though with such slow pace his lack of stamina was never really tested.

Moving on to Thursday's racing we have one claiming race at Wolverhampton's evening meeting for 3 year old's over the extended mile.

7.10 WOLVERHAMPTON 1MILE 3-Y-0 CLAIMING STAKES
Just six runners go to post for 1 mile claiming stakes for 3 year olds .This looks straight match between  Clean Bowled & Flying Pickets .

CLEAN BOWLED :Big improver since being fitted with cheek pieces, landing quick fire hatrick in claiming company .Including winning by 10 lenghs over this C&D earlier last month .Looks sure to go well with ideal conditions.

FLYING PICKETS : Good record at Southwell landing his third course win last week over 7F ,though was well beaten by Clean Bowled at Lingfield earlier last month, after being very slowly away. Should get closer on 5LB better terms ,though has poor record on poly track 0 from 5 .

VERDICT : Not great deal to separate the two main contenders on official handicap ratings ,though Flying Pickets has big question mark on this surface having been well beaten on all five starts on poly track.

CLEAN BOWLED is difficult to oppose after winning his last three starts in claiming company and this looks good opportunity to land the four timer .Not betting race for me at odds on ,though  8-11   looks fair price in such weak race.

Wednesdays best bets!!

Not much to report over the past week with no suitable betting opportunities in the claiming races.Hopefully once the flat turf season gets underway at the end of this month we should start to see plenty more betting opportunities in claiming races .

On Wednesday we have two flat cards with one claiming race at Lingfield over 1 mile 4 furlongs.Another small field with five runners going to post ,though this looks quite competitive little claimer.

2.40 LINGFIELD 12F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Just five runners declared for 12F claimer at Lingfield ,though apart from Imperial Fong the other four runners look to have some kind of chance .

COUNTRY ROAD : Good record at Wolverhampton with 3 wins from 8 starts .Won in good style last time in 12F handicap at Wolverhampton beating Illustrious Forest by 3 lenghs off mark 73 .Looks well treated at these weights .

EAGLE NEBULA : Consistent type who goes well here at Lingfield with 2 wins over C&D .Finished fair second last time in handicap over C&D off mark 67  ,though both wins came in selling company and has bit to find at these weights .

THUNDERING HOME :Good winner last time in claimer at Wolverhampton beating reliable yardstick Kames Park by comfortable 3 lenghs .Goes well in this grade and should go close .

DANIEL THOMAS : Four time course winner at Lingfield ,won 10F seller last month beating Enriching by 1.5 lenghs .Fairly treated at these weights ,though disappointed on his only try at this trip .

VERDICT : Country Road has best recent form winning handicap off mark 73 last time ,though seems to reserve all his best form at Wolverhampton ,there has to be doubt he can reproduce that form here at Lingfield, and does have poor record in this grade 0 from 5 in claiming company . Odds around 6-5 look on the short side .

Danial Thomas has been in good form this winter winning four times ,though there has to be big doubt over this longer trip .

THUNDERING HOME goes well in this grade and is preferred after winning similar contest at Wolverhampton last time in good style .3-1 looks very fair value in this small field  .

WEDNESDAY'S BEST BET
THUNDERING HOME 2.40 LINGFIELD

Thursdays claiming analysis !!!

Start of another month as we move into March with two flat cards on Thursday at Southwell & evening card at Kempton . Just the one claiming race on the fibresand at Southwell over 7 furlongs for three year olds .

2.50 SOUTHWELL 7F 3-Y-0 CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Just the six runners declared for 7 furlong claimer at Southwell with .Flying Pickets ,Point of Issue & First Bid ,looking the three main contenders .

FLYING PICKETS :Dual C&D winner here at Southwell .Won 7F handicap in good style here at Southwell back in December off mark 67 .Has looked disappointing on recent starts and needs to bounce back .

POINT OF ISSUE :Has put in three solid runs here at Southwell, including bolting up in claimer over C&D in November .Finished fair second last time in 6F handicap off mark 60 .Should go well with ideal conditions.

FIRST BID :Consistent sort ,finished placed on his last four starts in handicap company ,including finishing close second behind Samasana in handicap over C&D .That form has been boosted with Samasana winning again next time and the third horse J J Leary finishing decent second at Kempton last night .

VERDICT : Flying Pickets would be difficult to beat if reproducing the form of his C&D win off mark 67 in handicap company back in December ,though has looked very unreliable on recent starts .

Point Of Issue goes well here at Southwell and looks the main danger ,though does have bit to find at these weights being 8LB worse off than in handicap .

FIRST BID looks the most solid here after putting in two good efforts in handicap company. This looks weaker race and looks well treated in this claimer receiving 6LB of his main two rivals.

Was expecting around the 11-4 mark for First Bid ,though at a best price 85-40 ,that represents no real value and will have to pass on the race at those odds.Forecast favourite Flying Pickets has drifted badly in the market this morning touching 9-2 on betfair, and that's why both First Bid & Point of Issue are a lot shorter than I was expecting.
