Lack of betting opportunities !!

Tomorrow see's the start of another month as we move into February, though again no good betting opportunities on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Lack of runners  is proving major problem on the flat at the moment, with majority of races having 6 or less runners .

My betting strategy involves betting in races with 8 or more runners ,this has meant limited betting opportunities  over past 2 months.Field sizes are unlikely to improve till the start of the flat turf season in April.

The next two months are likely to be bit quiet ,though it just means staying extra patient and waiting for right betting opportunities to come along.

Weekly / Monthly review !!

Sundays intended bet on Elhamri in 6 furlong claiming stakes at Kempton is now unfortunately non runner.Elhamri looked to have great chance in what looked weak race ,nothing else makes much appeal on the card ,no bets on Sunday.

Its been very quiet week with just one bet that was on Friday in 1 mile claiming stakes on
Dream of fortune finishing second at 4-1.Small loss on the week -£20.00 / 0.20 PTS

Overall its been very consistent month with (8 BETS )(2 WINNERS) (3 SECONDS)(3THIRDS) PROFIT £400 / 4.00 PTS.Betting opportunities have been limited with only 8 bets on the month though quite pleased with consistency ,not the greatest profit on the month, though steady start to 2011.

RESULTS :

ON THE WEEK
1 BET ) 0 WINNER) LOSS -£20.00 / 0.20PTS

OVERALL AFTER WEEK FOUR 2011

Another blank Saturday !!

No real complaints with Fridays bet Dream of Fortune ran solid enough race finishing second at 4-1 ,had every chance with two furlongs to run though never really looked like catching April Fool inside final furlong.Small loss on the race £20.00 / 0.20 PTS

The big gamble of the race Querido who was backed from 2-1 into 5-6 was big disappointment only finishing forth and never looked like winning .Really surprising how punters backed him into odds on favourite.Always worth taking on these horses at such short price.

On to Saturdays racing only one flat card at Lingfield and betting opportunities look thin on the ground  and no possible bet on Saturday, though Sunday looks lot more promising with couple interesting races at Kempton park.

Fridays best bets!!

Finally we have some action on Friday with the first bet of the week ,going concentrate on the 1 mile claiming stakes at Wolverhampton's evening card at 5.10

1M 141YDS CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 5 WOLVERHAMPTON 5.10

DREAM OF FORTUNE :Very consistent 7 year old , seven wins on poly track winning twice in 2010 ,ran decent second last time in 10 furlong claimer at Lingfield behind Faithful Ruler, this looks weaker race with plenty of out of form horses in opposition.

VERDICT: Not the strongest of claimers with plenty out form horses.Course specialist QUEREDO looks main danger after winning 4 times in 2010 ,though was bit disappointing last time only finishing 6TH in handicap .Wears visor for first time which is bit surprising after winning 3 times this winter without any headgear. DREAM OF FORTUNE very rarely runs bad race in this grade and should go close in this ordinary looking claimer.looks fair value at around 7-2 mark.

Very quiet week !!

Not great deal happening this week ,after going through Tuesday & Wednesdays cards there looks no good betting opportunities till at least Thursday.

Tuesdays only flat card at Southwell looks very moderate which features six poor looking handicaps with no interest there.

Wednesday we have two flat cards at Lingfield & Kempton ,though again nothing really makes much appeal.Hopefully there will be some decent betting opportunities later in the week.

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Weekly review !!

Sundays split stakes bet on LOWTHER, finished second the other part of the bet BEAUCHAMP VICEROY finished disappointing forth.

After missing the break LOWTHER made up lot ground and did well to finish second though was no match for impressive winner Brave Echo who won easing down. The other part of the bet BEAUCHAMP VICEROY tried to make all, though folded tamely two furlongs out.Loss of £100 / 1.00 pt on the day.

Finished up a losing week. All three bets ran ok finishing placed, though to be honest never came that close to winning ,not the greatest week though could been lot worse .

RESULTS:

ON THE WEEK
3 BETS ) 0 WINNERS ) LOSS £195 / 1.95 PTS

OVERALL AFTER WEEK THREE 2011
7 BETS )2 WINNERS ) PROFIT £420 / 4.20 PTS

2010 PROFIT: £4670 / 46.70 PTS
2011 PROFIT: £420 /  4.20 PTS

RUNNING TOTAL PROFIT + £5090 / 50.90 PTS

Sundays best bets!!

Saturdays bet SNOWY PEAK finished well beaten third behind newcomer Ruby Brook ,no real excuses had perfect position in second place but was in trouble fully three furlongs out and soon beaten.

I was expecting much better run than that, though at least she did hold on for third. So could been lot worse
Loss £50.00 / 0.50 PTS on the day.

Sunday we have one flat card at Kempton park with quite decent 1 mile conditions race at 3.45, though this looks quite competitive race there does look two runners in the race that look bit overpriced.

1 MILE CONDITION STAKES CLASS 4 KEMPTON 3.45
BEAUCHAMP VICEROY : Useful performer  on polytrack with 7 wins.Won class 2 handicap here at Kempton over 7 furlongs last April off mark 102.Not won since though has ran some good races in defeat including finishing close third in listed race  behind the useful Riggins.Takes big drop in class into class 4 company and should go well.

LOWTHER : Consistent 6-Y-0 been in good form this winter ,ran excellent second in class 2 handicap back in December behind Final Drive only beaten neck of mark 92 ,that form has been boosted with Final Drive winning six of his last seven races .

VERDICT : Both BEAUCHAMP VICEROY & LOWTHER look to have solid chances against the surprising favourite Greyfriarschorista, who does have good record on polytrack and is trained by inform Mark Johnston ,though hasn't ran for 4 months and has shown very little on his last 4 starts on turf and hasn't won race for 11 months. At the prices BEAUCHAMP VICEROY & LOWTHER look decent value and are worth split stakes bet at decent odds.

Saturdays best bets !!

Only the one flat card on Saturday at Lingfield ,with just one race of interest  3 year old 1 mile maiden stakes at 2.00.

1 MILE MAIDEN STAKES CLASS 5 LINGFIELD 2.00
SNOWY PEAK : Promising debut at Lingfield in maiden over 7 furlongs in December ,stayed on well in closing stages to finish never nearer 5TH  ,given very easy introduction that day and looks open  plenty improvement on her second start, the step up to 1 mile looks sure to suit.Trainer Jeremy Noseda is also in excellent form 5 winners from 9 runners  in January.

VERDICT : Crafty Roberto looks obvious danger after finishing promising 2ND at Kempton over 1 mile in fair maiden ,though has been put in very short here and looks no value at around 8-11.
At over 3 times the price SNOWY PEAK looks decent value to upset the odds on favourite.

No action on Friday !!

Not great deal happening this week with only one bet so far, Friday looks much the same with two very competitive looking flat cards at Lingfield & Wolverhampton ,very difficult to find any good betting opportunities at either card and Friday will be another blank day.

Saturday & Sunday looks bit more promising with couple interesting races at Lingfield & Kempton and hopefully we will be back in action over the weekend.

Wednesday reflections !!

Wednesdays bet RUBENSTAR was slightly disappointing finishing a never nearer third ,could never quite get to the first two beaten short head & one lengh ,bit surprising he did trade as short as 1-3 in running, though to  be honest never really looked like catching  I Confess & Fivefold .

With the place part of the bet coming in no real damage done .Loss on the day £45.00 / 0.45 PTS

On to Thursdays racing two average flat cards at Lingfield & Wolverhampton ,though after going through both cards not great deal of interest at either card and no bets on Thursday.

Wednesdays best bets!!

Two flat cards on Wednesday at Lingfield & Kempton ,no real interest at Kempton's  evening card which features seven very competitive looking handicaps. For the first bet of the week,I'm going concentrate on the 7f claiming stakes at Lingfield

7F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 LINGFIELD 1.20

RUBENSTAR : Four time C&D winner at Lingfield , in great form winning twice in 5 days earlier this month .Won handicap over C&D at Lingfield beating Lord Deevert by 1.5 lenghs, followed that win by winning 7f handicap at Wolverhampton beating Saddlers Charm by head, did well to win that day after getting hampered at start .Should go well with ideal conditions.

VERDICT : I CONFESS looks the main danger, goes well here at Lingfield winning 4 times ,though not the easiest horse to win with only 1 win from last 30 starts.
RUBENSTAR has excellent record over course & distance (4 wins from 7 starts in handicaps ) takes drop into claiming company and looks well treated off 8 stone 1lb.3-1 or bigger looks value !!

RUBENSTAR 1.20 LINGFIELD
£100 WIN @ 3.90 BETFAIR
£100 PLACE @ 1.58 BETFAIR

Two early morning non runners ,Phytheas & Jack Olantern, just over 11-4 with betfair still looks very fair price and they are still paying three places on the place market.

The week ahead !!

Similar story too the last two weeks with not a great deal happening in the early part of the week.

Wolverhampton have two day fixture on Monday & Tuesday ,though both cards look incredibly poor with hardly any runners on Monday ,six of the seven races having 6 or less runners.

Tuesday doesn't look much better with no stand out bets.Hopefully there will be some better opportunities later in the week.

Sunday, January 16, 2011

Weekly review !!

Good finish to the week with FAITHFUL RULER winning nicely at Lingfield in 10 furlong claiming stakes at 3-1 landing very late gamble ,in fact 10 minutes before the race was available at  7-2 on betfair ,before being heavily backed into 15-8 just before the off . Tidy £360 / 3.60 PTS PROFIT on the day.

Overall I'm pleased how the first two weeks have gone ,not many bets (4) though  its been quite solid start to January.

 RESULTS :

ON THE WEEK
3 BETS ) 1 WINNER 3-1 )  PROFIT + £215 / 2.15 PTS

OVERALL AFTER WEEK TWO 2011
4 BETS ) 2 WINNERS ) PROFIT + £615 / 6.15 PTS

2010 PROFIT : £4670 / 46.70 PTS
2011 PROFIT : £615 / 6.15 PTS

RUNNING TOTAL + £5285 / 52.85 PTS

Saturdays best bets !!

Fridays split stakes bet on ROSEWOOD LAD & MR MUDDLE was bit disappointing, both horses were heavily supported ROSEWOOD LAD 5-1 into 11-4 & MR MUDDLE 9-2 into 3-1,though in particular MR MUDDLE was bitter disappointment finishing last of 9 ,dropping away very tamely before half way stage, and not horse I would trust again on flat after that disappointing performance.

ROSEWOOD LAD after getting outpaced in early part of the race, looked like catching Mister Frosty inside last 50yds and traded as short as 1-7 in running ,though just couldn't quite get there in the end getting beat half lengh ,ended up slightly disappointing race, though at least only half the stake was lost .
Loss on the day £100 / 1.00 PT

On to Saturday's racing just one flat card at Lingfield ,though there looks  interesting 10 furlong claiming stakes at 1.15

10F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 5 LINGFIELD 1.15

FAITHFUL RULER : Bolted up in 1 mile seller at Lingfield 18 days ago, winning easily by 7 lenghs for Richard Fahey ,was then sold for £8600 at the auction to Ron Harris.Had some decent form last season in good handicaps finishing third in two class 2 handicaps .Looks well weighted in this class 6 claimer.

VERDICT : Course specialist SGT SCHULTZ is best in at  the weights ,though has big question marks having not run for nearly 6 months and shown nothing on last three starts on turf last summer. FAITHFUL RULER was very impressive winner last time at Lingfield when dropped in class ,and that form has been boosted by second & third horses both running well next time in handicaps.Should go well on his first run for in form Ron Harris

Fridays best bets

Two flat cards  at Lingfield & Wolverhampton ,just the one race of interest on Friday the 1 mile 4F maiden stakes at 2.00

1 MILE 4F MAIDEN STAKES CLASS 5 LINGFIELD 2.00

ROSEWOOD LAD : Very consistent 4-Y-0 gelding finishing second six times , in good form this winter finishing 2ND on all three starts in handicaps ,goes well here at Lingfield, including when finishing good 2ND over C&D back in December.Should go well under ideal conditions.

MR MUDDLE : Two promising runs in novice hurdles over 2 miles, finishing second both times behind fair sorts ,looks open to plenty improvement returning to flat, and should go well in this weak looking maiden race.

VERDICT : Very interesting betting race with Mister Frosty being put in as favourite on betfair which is very surprising for horse that's still maiden after 27 starts .Both ROSEWOOD LAD & MR MUDDLE look to have solid chances and both look over priced against weak looking  favourite.

Wednesday reflections !!

HONKERS BONKERS could only manage 3RD in 6 furlong selling stakes behind  the odds on favourite Fifth in Line, with two furlongs to run he looked to have every chance and did trade as short as 8-13  in running  ,though didn't find great deal inside final furlong and was well held at finish and beaten 1.75 lenghs. No real complaints and not too much damage done with £45.00 / 0.45 PTS Loss.

On to Thursdays racing ,two flat cards at Southwell & Kempton both cards make limited appeal. Kempton's seven race card features six tough looking  handicaps and Southwell once again suffering from lack runners and no interest there.

Wednesdays best bet

Not great deal been happening  in January with only one bet so far this month. On Wednesday we have the second bet of the month, going concentrate on the first race at Lingfield  6 furlong 3-Y-0 selling stakes at 12.40

6F 3-Y-0 SELLING STAKES CLASS 6 LINGFIELD 12.40
HONKERS BONKERS :Good third in seller over C&D at Lingfield back in December behind Slatey Hen & Silence is Bliss ,that looked quite decent selling race with the winner & second both winning better races since.Finished second at Southwell last time in claimer over 6 furlongs behind Bold Dictator only beaten 1.25 lenghs that form was boosted yesterday with Bold Dictator finishing good second in Handicap at Southwell.Should go well back in selling company.

VERDICT : FIFTH IN LINE looks to have plenty in her favour after finishing 2ND four times in better company, drops into selling company for first time ,though looks no value at 10-11 for horse yet to get her head in front. HONKERS BONKERS has run well on his last two starts, and looks decent value to upset the hot favourite.Alan McCabe stable has been good form with 4 winners already this month and has decent draw in stall 2.

Blank on Monday & Tuesday !!

Another quiet start to the week with both Monday & Tuesday offering no decent betting opportunities today's flat card at Wolverhampton looks typical Monday card with some very tricky low grade handicaps.Tuesday looks much the same at Southwell with no interest there either

Wednesday looks lot more promising at Lingfield & Kempton with two very interesting races.

Weekly review !!

Finished up quite decent week with £400 profit / 4.00 points ,just the one bet this week on Wednesday SCARY MOVIE  winning selling stakes in good style at 10-3.It turned out very quiet week with very few betting opportunities .though nice to get off to solid start in 2011.

Weekend off !!

Not great deal happening at the weekend ,just one flat card on Saturday at Lingfield park and no stand out bets there,Sunday is much the same one card at Southwell with very poor quality card

No bets over the weekend ,though quite happy how the first week of 2011 has gone with £400 profit, hopefully there will be few more betting opportunities next week.

It's waiting game !!

January looks like being one of them very quiet months, decent betting opportunities on the flat look very limited at the moment, mainly due to the lack of runners. Two flat cards on Friday at Lingfield & Wolverhampton both cards make no appeal whatsoever.

January & February are always the two quietest months for me,with most punters focusing on jumps racing,  though I made the decision this year to concentrate solely on flat racing, which means lot less betting opportunities in the winter months.Just have to stay patient and wait for the right races to come along.

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

Good start to 2011 !!

Good start to 2011 after SCARY MOVIE landed some tasty bets in great style winning 1 mile 2 furlong selling stakes at Lingfield by  easy 3.5 lenghs.

Available at around 10-3 in morning,  in fact he did touch as big as 4-1 with betfair thirty minutes before the race, was then subject to heavy late support forcing him into 5-2 favourite.Tidy profit on the day  £400 - 4.00 points.

On to Thursday two flat cards at Southwell & Wolverhampton ,though both cards make no great appeal with no outstanding bets.

Wednesday best bets !!

Two flat cards on Wednesday at Lingfield & Kempton.

One bet on Wednesday the first bet of 2011, going concentrate on the first race at Lingfield 1 mile 2 furlong selling stakes at 12.55.

1 MILE 2F SELLING STAKES CLASS 6 LINGFIELD 12.55

SCARY MOVIE : Lightly raced 6-Y-0 gelding, only ran 3 times in 2010 ,won class 6 handicap over 1 mile 1 at Wolvehampton last march beating Alfie Tupper by 1.25 Lenghs of mark 62.

Followed that run with good 2ND in November at Kempton in 1 mile 4f claimer behind multiple claiming winner Talenti only just beaten by half  lengh .

Finished disappointing 4TH last time in claimer at Southwell ,though looked unsuited by deep fibresand. Will be suited by the return to polytrack and drop into selling company for first time.

VERDICT :  VISIONS OF JOHANNA looks the main danger after winning class 5 handicap at Haydock in May and finishing placed 4 times on turf this summer, drops into selling company for first time ,though hasn't run since last July.SCARY MOVIE with proven record on polytrack and also taking drop in class looks bit more solid and at around 3-1 mark looks fair value.

Quiet start in 2011!!

Two flat cards on Tuesday at Southwell & Kempton ,though again both cards make no real betting appeal with plenty tricky looking handicaps, decent betting opportunities look very limited .Wednesday looks lot more promising ,with couple interesting races at Lingfield Park.

Nothing doing on Bank holiday Monday !!

Two flat cards on Bank holiday Monday at Wolverhampton & Southwell ,though both cards make no appeal with next too no runners. In total there are only two races with more than 7 runners ,very disappointing !!

With so few runners most races end up very tactical  with many false results ,and its always difficult to find any real value in 5 or 6 runner races. No bets on Bank holiday Monday.

Sunday, January 02, 2011

My betting methods !!

Just little information how I operate from day to day,I concentrate on non handicap flat races which consists of (CLAIMERS) (SELLING STAKES) (GROUP RACES) (LISTED RACES) (MAIDEN STAKES) (CONDITION RACES) (NOVICE STAKES) On average this would be 3 to 4 bets per week though there would be less bets in winter months

My starting betting bank in FEBRUARY 2010 was 100 points it increased to 146 points at the start of JANUARY 2011. all bets are level stake bets of 1 point each-way .this will not change till my betting bank reaches 200 points, then the bets would increase by 50 % .All my bets are normally posted just after midnight with price updates at around 11.00 am the next morning..

Saturday, January 01, 2011

Quiet start on New years day !!

Not great deal happening on New years day ,with just the one flat meeting at Southwell and this card makes no great appeal with some very tricky looking races.

Seems to be quite problem at Southwell lately with lack of runners and New years day is no different with four  races having 6 or less runners ,always difficult to find any value bets with such small fields. No bets on New years day.
