3.50 Curragh 8F Park Hill Express Stakes(Fillies & Mares G3)

On Sunday we see the start of flat turf season in Ireland ,with high quality filly & mares group three contest over 1 mile .

11 runners declared for group three Park Hill Express stakes at 3.50 on ground described as soft . The four  main contenders are Devonshire ,Joailliere Glamorous Approach & Queen Catrine  .

DEVONSHIRE :Useful filly ,winning 2 out 13,including bolting up in 9 furlong listed race at Listowel in September on heavy ground, though ran her best races in defeat ,including finishing excellent third in Irish 1000 guineas last season .Will be suited by this soft ground and ran well first time out last season .

JOAILLIERE : Only had the two starts , bolted up in weak 7F maiden at Gorwan Park on debut ,winning by 7 lenghs , finished fair 9th of 18 in Irish 1000 guineas, finishing 4.5 lenghs behind Devonshire .Looks open to plenty improvement ,after just two starts .

GLAMOROUS APPROACH :  Lightly raced 3-Y-0 filly ,winning 2 out 4 ,including winning 10 furlong listed race at Newmarket in October .Looks open to  improvement this season ,though unproven on soft ground .

QUEEN CATRINE : Formerly trained by Charles Hills winning 2 out 19.Bounced back to form on first start for Ger Lyons, winning 8 furlong listed race at Naas on fast ground in  October . Has never convinced on soft or G/S  ground (0 out 5 )

VERDICT : DEVONSHIRE showed some useful form last season.Producing a career best effort here over C&D at Curragh, when finishing third in Irish 1000 guineas .Looks the one to beat with ground conditions in her favour .Odds around 7-2 look fair value.
