Slightly frustrating result on Tuesday with Barista just getting caught (beaten head) in 7 furlong claiming stakes at Chepstow after being well supported in market going off 7-4 favourite.
Barista looked all over the winner inside final furlong trading as short as 3-10 in running ,though just couldn't hold off Opus Maximus near the line .Loss on the day £47.00
Moving quickly on to Wednesdays racing we have four flat cards at Nottingham,Salisbury ,Newcastle & evening fixture at Kempton .Going concentrate on t Kempton's evening fixture on the poly track the 1 mile 4 furlong claiming stakes at 8.40
1 MILE 4F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 KEMPTON 8.40
PORGY :Useful type in this grade, won three times this year including winning class 4 handicap over C&D in January .Won twice back in June in handicap at Goodwood and claimer at Beverley .Finished fair fourth last time in above average claimer at York over 1 mile 2f .Will be suited returning to this longer trip.
VERDICT : Not bad little claimer with three main contenders Scamperdale ,Porgy & Uphold.
Scamperdale is 3lb clear on official handicap ratings being rated 89 and ran decent fifth last time in class 3 handicap off mark 90 here at Kempton .Will be suited by this longer trip and this drop in class, though not won since February.
Uphold has won twice this season including winning handicap & claimer back in May & June ,though has shown very little on his last two starts ,finishing last of 11 last time at Hamilton .Will be suited by this drop in class ,though will need to bounce back.
PORGY has got little to find with Scamperdale at these weights ,though has proven record over C&D and has good record in claiming races winning 2 from 3. At around 4-1 looks good each-way value in not strongest looking claimer .With Scamperdale looking the obvious danger.
