Kachy Listed Stakes Preview Lingfield (Sat 31st Jan 2026 )

The Kachy Stakes is a Listed flat horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Lingfield Park over a distance of 6 furlongs and 1 yard (1,208 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in February.[1]

The race was first run in 2007 as the Cleves Stakes. It was renamed from the 2021 running to honour Kachy, the winner of the race in 2018 and 2019. He broke the Lingfield Park track record in his 2019 win but suffered a fatal injury when running at the course in 2020.[2]

JBB FORM RATINGS : (1) MARSHMAN (121) (2) DILIGENT HARRY (120) (3) FERROUS (118)
(4) COMPLETLY RANDOM (115)

Last years winner MARSHMAN should go well for Karl Burke & Sam James, though only seventh at Southwell last time in Golden Rose Stakes , lost all chance at the start when completely missing the break when fly-jumped leaving the stalls, made late progress for never nearer seventh, though had hopeless task. Lightly raced on All Weather ( 2 out 5 ) though was impressive winner this race last year.Looks the one to beat .Odds around 11-4 mark look fair value .

2024 winner DILIGENT HARRY , has obvious claims on his best form , including winning G3 Chipchase stakes at Newcastle last season , has good record on All Weather winning 8 out 16 , though returns after five month break and was disappointing in this race last year. Best watched on his seasonal reappearance.

COOL HAND LUKE  had some very useful form as two-year-old , including winning G2 Gimcrack Stakes at York back in August 2024 , looks intresting runner for Andrew Balding , though likely to need the race after 526 days absence .

FERROUS has good strike rate on All Weather (5 out 8) also goes well fresh including winning first time out for the last two seasons, including winning first three races last season on All Weather. 0 out 4 in graded company, though can't be ruled out .

COMPLETLY RANDOM  looks interesting after winning class 3 handicap easily over C&D at Lingfield last time in quick time.Takes big step up in class, though looks open to further improvement with Ryan Moore back in the plate, though hasn't been missed in the market .
