Windsor 3.20 1M Summer Stakes Listed Race (Sat 27th June )

On Saturday we go to Windsor for interesting looking Listed race at 3.20

WINDSOR 3.20 1M SUMMER STAKES LISTED RACE :
10 runners declared for Summer Stakes at Windsor on good/firm ground .The three main contenders on official ratings are Complicit , Short Squeeze & Kodi Bear .

COMPLICIT : Consistent sort ,winning 6 from 18 (five wins on poly track ) Has shown some decent form on turf this season, finishing fair third in G3 Diomed Stakes at Epsom last time. Also finished good second over C&D in Royal Windsor listed stakes ,behind Shifting Star.Solid each-way claims .

SHORT SQUEEZE : Won 4 from 17 on turf .Had some useful form last season ,including winning 1 mile class two handicap at York off mark 102 ,also finished good second in 1 mile handicap at Meydan in February off mark 107 .However was well beaten fifth in this race last year.

KODI BEAR : Lightly raced three year old ,had some very useful form as two year old winning 7 furlong listed race at Ascot in July and then finishing excellent second in G1 Dewhurst stakes at Newmarket in October on soft ground .Obvious claims if staying this longer trip .

VERDICT : Interesting race that clearly revolves around Kodi Bear ,who's head and shoulders above these rivals on last years Dewhurst form ,though there is question mark over this longer trip on ground this quick .Could easily outclass this field ,though odds around 7-4, look short enough on first start for 8 months .

At the prices COMPLICIT looks the each-way value at around 6-1 ,has put in two solid efforts this season ,including finishing good second over this course & distance in listed race in May. Looks the bet against short priced Kodi Bear .

COMPLICIT 3.20 WINDSOR

4.10 Carlisle 7F Eternal Listed Stakes (Wed 24th June)

On Wednesday we go up north, for decent looking seven furlong fillies listed race at Carlisle.

CARLISLE 4.10 7F ETERNAL LISTED STAKES 3-Y-0 FILLIES:
10 runners declared for 7 furlong three year old fillies Listed race on Good (G/F) places. The three main contenders are Tempting ,Touchline & Excilly .

EXCILLY : Progressive sort, been in good form this season winning twice, including winning handicap at Leicester in May off mark 82.Showed improved form last time ,when finishing good second in class three 7 furlong handicap at Goodwood  .Looks open to further improvement .Each-way claims .

TEMPTING : Lightly raced filly ,only had two starts .Looked unlucky on debut when finishing close third in 7F maiden at Newmarket ,when not getting clear run .Made no mistake when winning weak 7F maiden at Thirsk last time .Big step Up in class ,though has potential .

TOUCHLINE :Improving filly ,Won 6 furlong maiden at Yarmouth last season.Shown much improved form this season, including finishing third in hot listed handicap at Royal Ascot last week ,behind the useful Osaila in Sandringham Stakes over 1 mile .Obvious claims in this easier looking race .

VERDICT : TOUCHLINE should go close here, after finishing eye catching third in Sandringham stakes at Royal Ascot last week ,having been slowly away and finding trouble in running, ran a cracker to finish third  .The drop back to 7 furlongs on this stiffer track should also suit.Odds around 7-2 look decent value .

TOUCHLINE 4.10 CARLISLE

Royal Ascot Day 3 Ascot Gold Cup (Thu 18th June )

Very frustrating day on Wednesday, with the days only bet The Grey Gatsby a desperately unlucky loser in Prince Of Wales Stakes, failing by short head .With anything like clear run would clearly won the race .Small profit on the race , though no consolation when you miss out on 13-2 winner.

Moving on to day three at Royal Ascot the feature race of the day is Ascot Gold cup at 4.20

4.20 ROYAL ASCOT 2 MILE 4F ASCOT GOLD CUP G1 :
14 runners declared for Ascot Gold Cup over 2 mile 4 furlongs ,though there are two possible withdrawals Forgotten Rules & Tac De Boistron due to fast ground .The three main contenders look to be Mizzou ,Trip To Paris & Vent De Force .

MIZZOU :Progressive sort ,winning 4 out 6 .Shown big improvement since stepping up in trip ,including winning G3 Sagaro Stakes over 2 miles at Ascot last time ,beating Vent De Force by 2 lenghs .Should be suited by this longer trip and ground conditions will suit .

TRIP TO PARIS : Been in great form this season in handicap company ,landing hatrick in Chester Cup in May off mark 95 .Finished creditable second in G3 Henry 11 stakes at Sandown last time .This longer trip shouldn't be problem, though has to reverse form with Vent De Force.

VENT DE FORCE : Improving sort ,winning 4 from 10 .Won G3 Henry 11 stakes at Sandown last time in good style, beating Trip To Paris .Looks open to plenty improvement over this kind trip .Each-way claims .

VERDICT : MIZZOU looks to have plenty in his favour here ,having won the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot last time ,that looks strong form with Vent De Force boosting the form at Sandown next time in G3 company .Fast ground and this longer trip will also suit .Odds around 11-2 look decent value .

Vent De Force has bit to find With Mizzou  on Sagaro Stakes form , though is open to plenty improvement over this longer trip and rates the main danger .

Royal Ascot Day 2 Prince Of Wales Stakes( Wed 17th June )

Not great start to Royal Ascot on day one, with both recommended bets Night of Thunder & Sole Power running well below form .Both bets were well supported in market ,though finished unplaced for 2 points loss .

Moving on to day two the feature race is  G1 Prince Of Wales Stakes at 4.20

4.20 ROYAL ASCOT 10F PRINCE OF WALES STAKES G1 :
8 runners declared for G1 Prince Of Wales stakes over 10 furlongs on Good/Firm ground .The three main contenders are Channock Chase ,The Grey Gatsby & Free Eagle .

CHANNOCK CHASE : Progressive sort winning 3 out 6 ,including winning  over C&D at Royal Ascot in G3 Terecentenary Stakes last year .Been slightly disappointing this season when finishing third in Gordon Richard Stakes & Second in Huxley Stakes at Chester .Will be suited returning to Ascot on faster ground, though will need big improvement to land this G1 race .

FREE EAGLE : Lightly raced four year old ,winning 2 from 4 .including winning group three contest at Leopardstown by 7 lenghs .Finished excellent third in Champion Stakes at Ascot on final start last season .Should go well, if fully fit on seasonal reappearance .

THE GREY GATSBY :Had some very useful form last season over 10 furlongs ,including winning Dante Stakes , French Derby & Irish Champion Stakes .Not looked as good so far this season, though was beaten on first two starts last season .Obvious claims if reproducing last seasons form .

VERDICT : THE GREY GATSBY looks decent each-way value here .On last seasons top G1 form ,would take all the beating .On official BHA ratings is 6LB clear and looks the value bet at around 13-2.

Free Eagle would go close if reproducing last season Champions stakes form ,and has won first time out the last two seasons ,though this looks hot race and will need to produce his best form first time out to win this group one race .

Royal Ascot Day One King Stand Stakes (Tues 16th June)

For the second bet on day one at Royal Ascot ,we concentrate on big sprint .The King Stand Stakes at 3.40 .

3.40 ROYAL ASCOT 5F KING STAND STAKES GROUP ONE:
19 runners declared for group one King Stand stakes over 5 furlongs on fast ground .The three main contenders look to be Muthmir , Sole Power & Shamal Wind

MUTHMIR : Progressive sort winning 4 from 10 starts , including winning group 2 contest at Chantilly last time .Had some useful form in top handicaps last season ,winning Porland at Doncaster in good style .Looks open to plenty improvement over 5 furlongs ,though yet race in group one company .

SOLE POWER : Excellent record over 5 furlongs on fast ground. Won this race for last two years and looked good as ever when winning the Al Quoz at Meydan in March ,can be forgiven for poor effort at Curragh last time over 6 furlongs .Looks to have ideal conditions here and should make bold bid to land the hatrick .

SHAMAL WIND : Useful Australian sprinter winning 8 from 24 starts.Produced career best effort last time when winning grade one handicap at Caufield last time .Still looks to be improving ,though not in same league as some former Australian sprinters ,that won at Royal Ascot .

VERDICT : SOLE POWER stands out here after winning this race for last two years and looked good as ever when winning group one Al Quoz at Meydan in March .Has ideal conditions here (5 furlongs on fast ground) .4-1 looks very fair value .

Royal Ascot Day one (Tue 16th June )

On Tuesday we see the start of  Royal Ascot meeting with some excellent racing over the next five days . On day one we have three group one races with Queen Anne and King Stand, the two most interesting races .

2.30 ROYAL ASCOT QUEEN ANNE STAKES G1 :
8 runners declared for group one Queen Anne Stakes for four year olds and upwards, over 1 mile .This looks very high quality contest ,with the three stand out performers .Able Friend , Night Of Thunder & Solow .

ABLE FRIEND : Useful 5-Y-0 gelding from Hong Kong ,winning 12 from 18 starts (11 wins at Sha Tin ) including four group ones .Rated 127 and 3LB clear on official ratings ,though not easy assess having beaten the same horses in recent races at Sha Tin . This straight mile on stiffer track will be different test .

NIGHT OF THUNDER : Won 4 from 9 starts ,including winning group one 2000 guineas at Newmarket last season .Returned to winning ways ,when winning group one Lockinge Stakes at Newbury last time .That looks strong form ,with three winners coming out of the race .Should go well with ideal conditions .

SOLOW : Useful French 5-Y-0 gelding winning 8 of last 9 starts .including winning group one Dubai Turf at Meydan in March over 9 furlongs, beating The Great Gatsby by 4.5 lenghs .Won Group one Prix D'ispahan last time at Longchamp in good style .Drops back to mile ,though obvious claims .

VERDICT : On official ratings Able Friend is rated one best milers in the world , though still has prove he will be as effective away from Sha Tin on stiff straight track .

At the prices NIGHT OF THUNDER looks solid each-way play at around 5-1 ,had some useful form last season, including winning 2000 guineas at Newmarket and looked good as ever when winning group one Lockinge stakes at Newbury last time .

Solow has looked good winning his last 6 starts ,including winning two group ones ,though odds around 13-8 look short enough, back over this shorter trip .
