Monday 25th June Claiming bet !!!

On Monday we have 6 furlong claiming stakes on the poly track at Wolverhampton, with 10 runners declared for very competitive 3 year old sprint claimer.

3.15 WOLVERHAMPTON 6F 3-Y-0 CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 5:
10 runners go to post for wide open looking three year old claimer .Three main contenders on official handicap ratings are Fayr Fall , Aquasulis & Tiablo.

FAYR FALL:Won 5 furlong maiden at Wolverhampton last year and finished placed four times in handicap company up to 7 furlongs .Returned to form last time finishing third in 6 furlong seller at Ripon .

AQUASULIS :Good record here at Wolverhampton winning 3 from 5 the last win coming back in September in 6 furlong handicap over course and distance .Hasn't shown great deal in three runs on turf this season in handicap company ,though will be suited returning to Wolverhampton in claiming company.

TIABLO :Dual course and distance winner in claiming company at Wolverhampton this season.Been below form on her last three starts ,though looks well treated at the weights off 8 stone and should be thereabouts.

VERDICT : Fayr Fall should go well here after reurning to form last time at Ripon and Paul Hanagan looks interesting jockey booking for Tim Easterby ,though doesn't have the greatest strike rate 1 win from 14 starts.

AQUASULIS will need to bounce back to form after some disappointing runs on turf ,though all her best form has been here at Wolverhampton and will be suited returning to claiming company for first time this season.Odds around 9-2 look very fair value.

Weekly Update !!!

Another blank week with no bets in the claiming races .The bad weather has made it impossible to find any suitable betting opportunities in the claimers over past two weeks .

On Friday there did look decent opportunity in 1 mile 2 furlong claiming stakes at Redcar ,though the intended bet on Jack Dawkins was late non runner.Ground conditions changing very quickly at Redcar after heavy morning rain.

The last two weeks have been frustrating with three intended bets having to be cancelled due to non runners and changing ground conditions .June has been very difficult month with so much rain about ,though on a positive note the month is still showing small profit .

Looking ahead to next week there does look like a strong possibility of bet on Monday at Wolverhampton in 6 furlong claiming stakes at 3.15.With ground conditions not going to be an issue on the poly track surface. Will post the selection on Monday morning between 11.00/11.30 .

Friday 22nd June Claiming Bet !!!

On Friday we have 1 mile 2 furlong 0-75 classified claiming stakes at Redcar .

4.35 REDCAR 1 MILE 2 FURLONG 0-75 CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES:
9 runners go to post for 1 mile 2 furlong claiming stakes on ground described as good ,though showers are forcast through the day .This looks competitive claimer with plenty of out form horses .The three main contenders look to be Jack Dawkins , Scottish Boogie & Elizabeth Coffee

JACK DAWKINS : Useful performer for Henry Cecil in the past ,though not the force of old .Been running well on the fibresand at Southwell this year winning twice ,including winning 11 furlong claimer in April .Has plenty turf form in past and should go well in this claimer.

ELIZABETH COFFEE : Won three races in Ireland last season for M.Halford.Finished fair third in 10 furlong handicap at Chester in May for Ian Williams .Takes drop in class here into claiming company for first time .

SCOTTISH BOOGIE : Won four times for Sylvester Kirk 2009/10 ,though didn't show great deal for Charles Brynes in Ireland .Rejoined Syvester Kirk stable in May ,though has shown very little on his last two starts ,including in claiming company .

VERDICT: Elizabeth Coffee should go well here after winning three times in Ireland last year and would be difficult to beat if she can reproduce her Chester form in this claimer .However she did run poorly last time and wouldn't want ground to get much softer .

At the prices JACK DAWKINS looks the value bet here after running three solid races at Southwell this year .Has won three times on turf and seems to go well in this grade.Odds around 9-2 look fair each-way value .

FRIDAY 22ND CLAIMING BET :
JACK DAWKINS 4.35 REDCAR

Weekly Update !!

It's been very quiet week with no bets in claiming races .With so much rain about this week its been very difficult to find any suitable betting opportunities in the claimers. With most of the races cutting up badly.

Hopefully we will be back in action sometime next week ,with four claimers scheduled for later in the week :  (Wednesday 5.20 Hamilton 5F claimer ) (Thursday 2.45 Ripon 6F claimer & 2.20 Warwick 8F claimer ) (Friday 4.35 Redcar 10F claimer )

As we approach the last two weeks in June the claiming bets have performed OK in first half of the year. With four winning months out of five and June is also showing small profit of £177.00 / 1.77 with very respectable return on investment in 2012 of 54.55 % .

In the second half of the year there will hopefully be few more betting opportunities .This year there has only been 24 bets which is an average of one bet per week .That's far less than I was expecting at the start of the year, though that's not big concern as I'm prepared to wait as long as it takes for good betting opportunities .

From Small number of bets the strike rate has been good this year with over 37% strike rate ,compared to last years 21% .Hopefully that will continue in the second half of the year.

Weekly Results Round / Up

Good result yesterday with Flamesoftheforest winning 7 furlong claiming stakes at Chester in good style for £288.00 profit .Flamesoftheforest seem to relish the testing ground conditions, drawing clear in closing stages to win comfortably by just under 3 lenghs.

With so much rain falling at Chester there was total of 6 non runners in the race with 20P rule 4 deduction to early prices making it 4.8-1 .That was very fair price considering there were so many non runners in the race.

Overall its been solid week with  £271.00 profit on the week .Thursday's bet on All About You finished second at 10-3 in 5 furlong claiming stakes at Wolverhampton for small loss of £17.00

Moving on to next week we have four claimers scheduled for early part of the week, including two claimers on Monday .Hopefully we will be back in action on Monday or Tuesday .

Saturday 9th June Claiming Bet !!

On Saturday we have 0-80 classified claiming stakes at Chester over 7 furlongs .

4.15 CHESTER 7F CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES 0-80
14 runners declared for very competitive 7F claiming stakes at Chester ,with more rain forecast ground conditions are likely to be very testing .The three main contenders with decent draws & proven form on soft ground conditions are Flameoftheforest,Jungle Bay & Kingswinford

FLAMESOFTHEFOREST: Won 6F handicap at Newcastle last October on soft ground off mark 75 .Also had some fair form in Ireland when trained by Charlie Swan in 2010 .Hasn't shown great deal on his first two starts this season in handicap company ,though will be suited by ground conditions and drops into claiming company for first time .

JUNGLE BAY : C&D winner here at Chester on good/soft last season .Returned to form last time winning 7F handicap on poly track at Wolverhampton off mark 73 .Well drawn in stall one and should go well dropping into claiming company for first time .

KINGSWINFORD :Dual course winner here at Chester last summer ,including winning this race last year .Has good record in turf claimers 1312 and effective on soft ground .Has to bounce back after couple disappointing  runs on turf ,though will be suited returning to claiming company .

VERDICT: There are 4 non runners this morning leaving 10 runners ,though this still looks wide open claimer .

Kingswinford is best in at the weights and goes well here at Chester ,also has decent record in claiming company .Has to be respected though this looks stronger race than last years event.Odds around 3-1 look little short in wide open race.

FLAMESOFTHEFOREST will be suited by testing conditions having won at Tipperary on heavy ground and soft ground at Newcastle .Should come on for his first two runs this season and  odds around 6-1 look very fair each-way value .

Thursday 7th June Claiming Bet

On Thursday we have two claiming races, going concentrate on the five furlong claiming stakes on poly track at Wolverhampton .

3.40 WOLVERHAMPTON 5F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 :
Nine runners declared for 5F claimer at Wolverhampton .This looks quite decent claimer for this grade .The two main contenders look to be What About You & Redair .

WHAT ABOUT YOU :Course winner over 6 furlongs here at Wolverhampton ,though not won since November 2010 .However did show some useful form in handicaps on poly track last season including finishing second in class 2 handicap at Lingfield of mark 86 .

REDAIR : Three time C&D winner here at Wolverhampton and has excellent record on poly track over 5 furlongs winning 5 from 6 . Will be suited returning to claiming company and looks big player.

VERDICT : Question marks about most of these, with most of the runners looking totally out of form .

Redair looks to hold obvious chance having already won four times this year and goes well in this grade, though not the best treated at these weights and trainer David Evans has not been in best form .

WHAT ABOUT YOU has to bounce back after couple disappointing runs on turf ,though all his best form has been on poly track and if he can reproduce last seasons solid handicap form ,would take plenty beating in this class 6 claimer.Odds around 3-1 look fair value

Weekly Results Round / Up

Yesterday's bet on Overrule in 1 mile 4 furlong claiming stakes at Catterick was disappointing. No real excuses for Overrule who looked to be coming with promising run with 3 furlongs to go ,though could only find the one pace in closing stages and finished well beaten 4TH .The 10-1 winner Herostatus was very difficult to find having never been placed on the turf from 7 starts .

Not great week with no winners from two bets for loss - £100 / 1.00 pt .The last three bets haven't really performed that well with two them finishing unplaced ,though overall  the bets have been doing OK  with over 36% strike rate this year .Hopefully we can come back with winner next week .

Looking ahead to next week we have three claimers scheduled : Tuesday 7F claimer at Leicester ) Thursday 6F claimer at Hamilton & 5F claimer at Wolverhampton )

THE RESULTS :

ON THE WEEK:
2 BETS ) 0 WINNERS ) 1 SECOND ) 1 UNPLACED ) LOSS £100.00 / 1.00 PTS

Saturday 2nd June Claiming Bet !!

On Saturday we have 0-75 classified claiming stakes at Catterick .Quite interesting little race with 8 runners declared .

1.45 CATTERICK 1 MILE 4F 0-75 CLASSIFIED CLAIMER
8 runners declared for 1 mile 4 furlong classfied claimer at Catterick on fast ground .Strictly On official handicap ratings this looks quite competitive little race ,though there are question marks about few these .The two proven horses with suitable conditions are Overrule & Eijaaz

OVERRULE : Won four times on fibresand at Southwell this year .Has also won three times on turf ,though not since June 2009 .Lightly raced on turf last season and struggled in handicaps ,though did finish good second in decent claimer at York.

EIJAAZ : Course specialist with 7 wins here at Catterick .Has excellent record in claiming company at Catterick with 5 wins from 11 starts .Ran good second on his seasonal reappearance in claimer at Catterick in May only beaten nose.

VERDICT: Eijaaz looks sure to go well with his last 7 wins coming in claiming company with five ot them coming at Catterick over C&D .However on official handicap ratings has bit to find with couple of these .Odds around 5-2 look on the short side .

OVERRULE looks well treated at the weights in this claimer and has shown plenty form on the turf in the past.Odds around 9-2 look fair value in this weak looking claimer .
