Just small profit on the month ,though that keeps the good run going and making it three winning months in a row since switching to the claiming races in December ,and hopefully there will plenty more opportunities when the turf season gets underway in April .

Mondays Claiming Analysis !!!

Just the one flat card on Monday at Wolverhampton with 6F claiming race at 3.00 .Unfortunately there are two early morning non runners .Which includes my intended each-way selection My Lord who looked to have decent each-way chance against the short price favourite Steelcut .

WOLVERHAMPTON 3.00 6F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Seven runners go to post for 6F claimer at Wolverhampton .With My Lord being non runner in this 6F claimer ,this looks golden opportunity for Steelcut to land his fifth course win .

STEELCUT :Four time course winner here at Wolverhampton .Finished second on his last two starts here at Wolverhampton both times getting beat in photo finishes .Looks well treated at the weights and looks sure to go well returning to claiming company .

SARAH'S ART : Fair record on poly track winning seven times including winning four times here at Wolvehampton ,though hasn't won since December 2010 .Finished fair third in 6F claimer at Kempton in November .

VERDICT : STEELCUT is 3LB clear on official handicap ratings and looks difficult to oppose in this weak looking claimer .Odds around 4-6 don't make great appeal ,though looks to have very little to beat .

Sarah's Art could be possible danger if repeating his third in claimer at Kempton in November ,though has been very inconsistent in recent starts and not horse to rely on these days .

Weekly results / round up !!

Finally we had some action this week with two bets.

The first bet was at Kempton's evening meeting  on Wednesday in 7F claiming stakes on Last Sovereign at 5-1,Well supported in the market going off 4-1 second favourite .
After travelling well in early stages of the race ,never picked up with two furlongs to go and finished well beaten third behind easy winner Marajaa and loss of £100/ 1.00pt on the race.

The second bet was at Wolverhampton's evening card on Friday in 1 mile 4F claiming stakes on Thundering Home at 11-4 .In the race Thundering Home was always travelling well and drew clear in closing stages to win by 3.25 lenghs for tidy £343.00  profit on the race.

Overall its been solid week with £243 profit and its good to finally have some action in the claiming races .On Monday we have interesting looking 6F claimer at Wolverhampton with nine runners declared and there looks strong possibility of another bet on Monday .

THE RESULTS :

ON THE WEEK :
2 BETS ) 1 WINNER ) 1 UNPLACED ) PROFIT £243/2.43 PTS

Fridays best bets!!

Two flat cards on Friday at Lingfield & Wolverhampton and we have two claiming races .
(1.40 Lingfield 10F Claiming stakes ) & (8.00 Wolverhampton 12F Classified claiming stakes )

1.40 LINGFIELD 10F 3-Y-0 CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Five runners go to post for 10F claiming stakes at Lingfield .This looks match between old rivals Clean Bowled & Crowning Star .

CLEAN BOWLED : Looks improved performer since be fitted with the cheek pieces .Winning his last two starts in claiming company beating Crowning Star both times over 1 mile .Looks well treated at the weights and should be difficult to beat.

CROWNING STAR : Won 6F maiden at Lingfield in July ,not won since though has finished second four times .Unproven over this longer trip and has plenty to find with old rival Clean Bowled.

VERDICT : CLEAN BOWLED has to prove himself over this longer trip ,though should take plenty beating in this weak looking claimer .Crowning Star looks the only danger ,though will need to show improvement over this longer trip .Odds around 4-5 make little appeal and no bet race.

(1) CLEAN BOWLED (2) CROWNING STAR

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8.00 WOLVERHAMPTON 12F CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Six runners go to post for 12F claimer at Wolverhampton .This looks quite competitive little claimer with the three C&D winners. Kames Park ,Ahlawy & Thundering Home looking the main contenders.

KAMES PARK : Consistent sort and four time winner here at Wolverhampton, won 12F handicap at Lingfield in December off mark 63 ,been placed on his last three starts including over C&D earlier this month .

AHLAWY : Course specialist with 7 wins here at Wolverhampton ,won seller over C&D in December ,ran good second on Monday in seller here at Wolverhampton over 9F behind Red Somerset .Looks well weighted off 8stone 4LB.

THUNDERING HOME :Dual course winner here at Wolverhampton .Won handicap over C&D off mark 61 at the end of December .Slightly disappointing last time at Wolverhampton ,though appeared not to stay the longer trip (1 mile 6F) .Will be suited returning to this shorter trip .

VERDICT : Not much to choose  the three main contenders at these weights .Both Kames Park & Ahlawy should be thereabouts in this claimer .

THUNDERING HOME is preferred now having his ideal conditions (1 mile 4F at Wolverhampton) .Has put in three solid runs over this course and distance .Winning once and finishing second twice . Will also be suited returning to claiming company odds around 11-4 look fair value .

FRIDAY'S BEST BET :
THUNDERING HOME 8.00 WOLVERHAMPTON

Wednesday's Best Bets !!!

Two flat cards on Wednesday with two claiming races (1.45 Lingfield 5F claiming stakes ) and (6.30 Kempton 7F claiming stakes )

1.45 LINGFIELD 5F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Just five runners go to post for 5 furlong claimer .On official handicap ratings this looks between Drawnfromthepast & Brenin Taran who look very closely matched at these weights .

DRAWNFROMTHEPAST :Back to form winning his last two races at Southwell & Lingfield ,didn't need to be at his best last time when winning 5F seller at Southwell .Better judged on winning 6F claimer at Lingfield last month when beating Hinton Admiral .

BRENIN TARAN :Fair sprinter back in 2009 ,ran good third in 6F class 3 handicap at Lingfield last time (first run for 28 months ) Should go well with this big drop in class .

VERDICT : Very little to choose between Drawnfromthepast & Brenin Taran at these weights .

DRAWNFROMTHEPAST  is just preferred after winning his last two starts in similar company ,though odds around 11-8 don't make great appeal with Brenin Taran looking big danger .

(1) DRAWNFROMTHEPAST (2) BRENIN TARAN

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6.30 KEMPTON 7F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Six runners declared for 7F claimer at Kempton ,This looks to concern the top three runners Marajaa ,Last Sovereign & Mambo Spirit

MARAJAA :Been in good form this winter winning twice including winning claimer over C&D in December ,finished fair third last time in 1 mile claimer at Lingfield behind two subsequent winners Munsarim & Red Somerset .Looks well treated at these weights .

LAST SOVEREIGN :Front runner ,dual C&D winner here at Kempton .Won 6F handicap at Pontefract back in August off mark 75 .Finished fair fifth last time in 7F handicap at Kempton behind Ocean Legend off mark 77 .

MAMBO SPIRIT :Three time course winner here at Kempton ,Won 6F seller at Kempton in December .This looks tougher race and has bit to find at these weights ,though does have fair record here at Kempton .

VERDICT : Marajaa is 5LB clear on official handicap ratings ,though has been beaten favourite on his last two starts in claiming company .Has to respected at these weights though odds around 4-6 look very short.

LAST SOVEREIGN has little to find at these weights ,though does have some decent form in  handicap company here st Kempton .Will be suited with this drop in class and could take some pegging back in this small field .Odds around 5-1 look fair value against the short price favourite.

WEDNESDAY'S BEST BET :
LAST SOVEREIGN 6.30 KEMPTON
(THIRD SP 4-1 LOSS £100.00)
0.50 PTS EACH-WAY @ 5-1 BOYLESPORTS
BEST PRICE GUARANTEE

*Odds of 6-1 was available with betfair ,though those odds quickly disappeared and bet will go down at 5-1 best price guarantee which is still available with Boylesports at 2.50 pm

Another Blank Week !!!

Not a great deal to report after another blank week with no suitable betting opportunities in the
claiming races this week. That makes it three weeks without a bet, with the lack of runners still  a major problem in the claimers.

After getting good start to the year in January, this month has been frustrating with very limited  betting opportunities.Hopefully there will be some bets before the start of the flat turf season in April lol!!!

Looking ahead to next week the best chance of any action looks like being on Wednesday or Friday with two claiming races scheduled for both days. That's hope we will be back in action sometime this week.

Thursdays Claiming Analysis!!

Two flat cards on Thursday at Southwell & Kempton with 6F claiming stakes on the fibresand at Southwell at 3.55

3.55 SOUTHWELL 6F 3-Y-0 CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Six runners declared for 6F claimer at Southwell .This looks quite competitive little 3-Y-0 claimer with .Isheamiracle ,Claretintheblood & Faraway looking the three main contenders.

ISHEAMIRACKLE : Consistent filly on fibresand,Won 5F maiden here at Southwell back in December  beating Forever Janey by 6 lenghs .Has also finished second three times at the track up to 1 mile.Ran fair third last over C&D at Southwell off mark 65 .Should go well dropping into claiming company for first time .

CLARETINTHEBLOOD : Won 5F handicap at Southwell in December off mark 54 beating Russian Bullet by 0.50 lengh .Finished fair third last time at Southwell over 5 furlongs behind Laura's Bairn .Has to prove himself over this 6 furlong trip .

FARAWAY : Won three races in 2011 ,including winning 6F claimer at Wolverhampton in December, though has looked disappointing on his last three starts in this grade . Wears first time blinkers.

VERDICT : Claretintheblood has put in two solid runs in handicaps here at Southwell over five furlongs ,though there still remains question mark over this longer trip .Also has bit to find at these weights having second lowest handicap rating.

Faraway would be difficult to beat if reproducing his fourth over C&D off mark 70 in class 5 handicap back in December ,though has looked disappointing on his recent starts .First time blinkers may help ,though there still remains a question mark .

ISHEAMIRACKLE looks more solid than her two main rivals, with fair record here at Southwell in handicap company .Will be suited dropping into claiming company for first time .

Was expecting around 5-2 mark for a bet ,though the 9-4 quickly disappeared early this morning and now best price 13-8 which doesn't make great appeal ,and another no bet race.

Wednesday's Claiming Analysis !!!

Two flat cards on Wednesday with one claiming race at Kempton's evening fixture.Again we have another uncompetitive claiming race over 7 furlongs with six runners going to post.

7.10 KEMPTON 7F CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 5
Six runners declared for 7 furlong claiming stakes .This looks straight match between Twinkled & Lutine Charlie .

TWINKLED : Fair record on the poly track with 2 wins from 5 starts .Won 1 mile seller at Lingfield last time beating Tuxedo in good style .Looks well treated in this claimer off bottom weight and will be difficult to beat .

LUTINE CHARLIE :Won 6F seller at Kempton in November ,Also finished creditable second behind Lastkingofscotland in 7F claimer at Lingfield in January.Looked very disappointing last when finishing last of 6 behind Twinkled in 1 mile seller .

VERDICT : Lutine Charlie will need to settle a lot better today, after pulling far too hard last time in first time visor .Luke Morris replaces the 7LB claimer today which could make big difference, though doesn't have great strike rate and has very poor record in claiming company 0 from 8.

TWINKLED  is reliable sort and looks very well treated off 8 stone 4LB and will be difficult to beat in this weak looking claimer .Goes particularly well for 7LB claimer Ian Burns who has won on the horse twice. Not betting race for me at odds on ,though 5-6 looks a very fair price in such weak race.

(1) TWINKLED (2) LUTINE CHARLIE.

Patience Patience Patience !!!

The last two weeks have been very quiet with only one bet .Good betting opportunities in the claiming races have been non existent this week with small field sizes and poor value odds being the main problem.

In small fields its always difficult to find any kind of value and particularly in claiming races were there are only two or three runners with any kind of chance .

The main problem when specializing in certain type of race it does limit your betting opportunities.Since switching over to the claiming races in December the results have definitely improved big time with more consistent profits .

It does now mean a lot less bets each month ,which also means showing plenty more patience waiting for the right opportunities to come along  .Saying that February has always been quiet month for me,though hopefully there will be some bets before the end of the month .

With no claiming races scheduled for Monday or Tuesday the next blog post will be on Wednesday .

Thursday's claiming analysis !!!

Just the one flat card on Thursday at Wolverhampton with 1 mile 3-Y-0 claiming stakes at 3.30 .Again we have disappointing turn out with four runners going to post .

3.30 WOLVERHAMPTON 1 MILE 3-Y-0 CLAIMING STAKES
Just four runners for very weak looking 3 year old claimer .This looks two horse race between Crowning Star & Clean Bowled .

CROWNING STAR :Won 6F maiden at Lingfield in July .Returned to form at the end of December finishing close second in 7F claimer at Wolverhampton behind One More Roman .Ran fair third last time in class 4 handicap over 7F at Wolverhampton .Will be suited returning to claiming company .

CLEAN BOWLED :Still maiden after 9 starts ,though did finish fair third in handicap over C&D at Wolverhampton earlier last month behind Complex ,though finished well beaten fourth last time at Wolverhampton.

VERDICT : Claimers don't come much weaker than this race, and this looks golden opportunity for CROWNING STAR to win his second race after contesting a much stronger race last time at Wolverhampton  .Odds around 4-6 make little appeal and again no bet race for me.

(1) CROWNING STAR  (2) CLEAN BOWLED

Wednesday's Claiming Analysis !!!

Not great deal happening this week in claiming races with very few betting opportunities. On Wednesday we have one claiming race at Kempton over 7 furlongs ,though again we have very small field with four runners going to post .

3.55 KEMPTON 7F CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6:
Disappointing turn out with just four runners declared for 7F claiming stakes on poly track at Kempton .

APRIL FOOL :Tough front runner and course specialist here at Kempton winning five times .Won 7F handicap over C&D earlier last month off mark 69 .Been disappointing on his last two starts in handicap company ,though will be suited returning to claiming company .

RUSSIAN ICE :Three time C&D winner here at Kempton ,been in good form this winter winning 7F handicap over C&D in November off mark 66 .Finished fair third last time at Lingfield in 1 mile handicap .

SATWA LAIRD : Returned to form last time winning 7F claimer at Lingfield beating Fishforcompliments by 0.5 lenghs .Looks well treated at these weights, though isn't the easiest horse to win with

VERDICT : Satwa Laird is 5LB clear on official handicap ratings and has to be respected after winning claimer last time at Lingfield ,though that didn't look the strongest claimer and odds around 6-4 look on the short side for horse with such modest strike rate .

Russian Ice is very consistent and goes well here at Kempton ,though does have bit to find at these weights.

Preference is for course specialist APRIL FOOL who should be able to dominate in this small field and will be difficult to pass if getting an uncontested lead .

Not betting race for me at  best price 15-8 ,though APRIL FOOL looks certain to trade lot shorter in running and looks good back to lay for in running punters.

(1) APRIL FOOL (2) SATWA LAIRD

Monday's claiming analysis !!!

One claiming race on Monday at Wolverhampton over extended mile at 4.30.Another small field with just six runners declared.

4.30 WOLVERHAMPTON 1 MILE 141YDS CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Six runners go to post for 1 mile claiming race with two main contenders ,This looks weak looking claimer with just two main contenders Spinning Ridge & Violent Velocity .

SPINNING RIDGE :Strong traveller ,with decent record on poly track having won 8 times ,been in good form this year already winning two claimers at Kempton and Wolverhampton .Looks well treated in this claimer .

VIOLENT VELOCITY : Won twice last year on turf in handicaps at Beverley & Doncaster ,ran fair fourth last time over C&D at Wolverhampton in class 5 handicap only beaten 1.75 lenghs behind Zafeen's Pearl .

VERDICT : Violent Velocity has to be respected dropping into claiming company for first time, and should go well if fully fit after 3 month break ,though has looked a better horse on turf  (8 wins)  doesn't have the greatest record on the All Weather with one 1 win from 10 starts.

SPINNING RIDGE has been in top form this year, having already won two claimers and looks the one to beat in what looks weak claimer .Odds around 11-10 don't make great appeal and another no bet race for me.

Saturdays claiming analysis !!!

Two flat cards on Saturday with one claiming race at Wolverhampton ,though once again we have small field with just five runners .

February looks like being very quiet month with very few betting opportunities in claiming races. Will just have to stay very patient and wait for  good betting opportunity.Hopefully sooner rather than latter .

4.15 WOLVERHAMPTON 12F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Just five runners go to post for 12F claiming stakes at Wolverhampton .This looks golden opportunity for La Estrella to record his 12th claiming success.

La Estrella :Fantastic record in claiming company winning 11 from 12 .Easy winner last time in claimer over C&D at Wolverhampton beating Country Road  by 5 lenghs .

Halla San : One time useful flat and hurdles performer, including finishing close 2ND in 2008 Northumberland Plate at Newcastle .Has shown very little on his last three starts on turf including when beaten in claimer at York.

Country Road : Consistent type and dual C&D winner here at Wolverhampton ,finished well beaten third yesterday at Wolverhampton in 9F claimer .Will be suited returning to this longer trip ,though has plenty to find with La Estrella .

VERDICT : LA ESTRELLA cannot be opposed in this company and should make it win number 19 .For those who like odds on shots 1-3 looks very fair price in such weak race.

Country Road normally runs his race and will be suited returning to this longer trip and can again chase home La Estrella for the forecast.

(1) LA ESTRELLA (2) COUNTRY ROAD

Fridays claiming analysis !!!

Two flat cards on Friday with two claiming races .Wolverhampton 2.40 & Lingfield 2.55 .

Field sizes this week in the claiming races have been very disappointing, with not one race with more than six runners ,this makes it very difficult to find any value bets , though hardly a surprise to see such small fields when your racing for peanuts .

2.40 WOLVERHAMPTON 9F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 5
5 runners go to post for 9F claimer at Wolverhampton .This looks match between Munsarim & Faithful Ruler .

Munsarim : Been in good form this winter winning back to back claimers at Wolverhampton and Lingfield over mile .Won with bit in hand last time at Lingfield in what looked decent claimer when beating Red Somerset by 0.5 lenghs .

Faithful Ruler : Reliable sort and has fair record here at Wolverhampton having won four times .Won 1 mile seller here at Wolverhampton earlier last month beating Unlimited by short head.

VERDICT : Faithful Ruler goes well here at Wolverhampton and looks the main danger ,though this looks lot stronger race than the seller he won earlier this month .

MUNSARIM unbeaten in claiming company 2 from 2, has looked improved performer since wearing blinkers and can land the three timer in this claimer .At the likely prices not betting race for me.

(1) MUNSARIM (2) FAITHFUL RULER

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LINGFIELD 2.55 7F 3-Y-0 CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Only three runners go to post for 3 year old claimer .

Roedean : Landed a quick fire hatrick at Southwell on Thursday winning a maiden and two sellers ,looks sure to go well in this weak looking claimer.

Haafhd Handsome :Still a maiden after 7 starts ,though has been placed three times in maiden company .Has looked bit disappointing on his last two starts in handicap company .Drops into claiming company for first time .

VERDICT :Haafhd Handsome in first time blinkers has to be respected, taking this drop into claiming company for first time ,still needs to improve on his last two efforts, though still rates as main danger

ROEDEAN looks more solid than his main rival and has shown plenty improvement since wearing cheek pieces .Odds around 8-13 make little appeal and another no bet race for me.

(1) RODEAN  (2) HAAFHD HANDSOME

Thursday's claiming analysis !!!

Two flat cards on Thursday at Southwell & Wolverhampton .Just the one claiming race at Wolverhampton over 6 furlongs .

2.20 WOLVERHAMPTON 6F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 :
6 runners go to post for 6F claiming stakes at Wolverhampton .The three main contenders look to be, Hinton Admiral , Haadeeth & Steel Cut .

Hinton Admiral : Good record in claiming company winning five times .Been in good form this winter winning seller at Lingfield earlier last month and finishing second last time in 6F claimer at Lingfield.

Haadeeth : Won 6F handicap over C&D at Wolverhampton in October off mark 63 .Bounced back to form last time finishing close second in 6F handicap at Kempton off mark 70 .Drops into claiming company for first time .

Steelcut : Four time winner here at Wolverhampton ,including winning two claimers in 2011 .Returned to form last time finishing fair third in 5F claimer behind Master Of Disguise at Wolverhampton.

VERDICT : Hinton Admiral has to be respected in this grade ,though faces no easy task trying to concede 10LB to his main rival .

Steelcut is very inconsistent type, though does have good record here at Wolverhampton in this grade and looks possible danger.

HAADEETH looks bit more solid than his two main rivals and will be suited dropping into claiming company for first time .However odds around 9-4 don't make great appeal .I was hoping for around the 11-4 / 3-1 mark for definite bet .At the current odds its unfortunately a no bet race for me.

(1) HAADEETH (2) STEELCUT

Monthly results round up !!!

With no claiming races on Wednesday, this gives me good opportunity to update the monthly figures for January .

Overall its been good month with 4 winners from 10 bets for profit £824 / 8.24 pts .After slow start to the month the last two weeks have been very good with 4 winners and 2 places from 6 bets .

Since switching to the claiming races in December the results have definitely shown big improvement with two winning months in row .Hopefully the good run of results will continue in February .

 MONTHLY RESULTS FOR JANUARY :
10 BETS ) 4 WINNERS ) 1 SECOND ) 1 THIRD ) 4 UNPLACED)
PROFIT +£824 / 8.24 PTS

RETURN ON INVESTMENT FOR JANUARY :
STAKED £1550 / 15.50 PTS ) RETURN £2374 / 23.74PTS ) ROI +53.84% )
