SENNOCKIAN STAR : 7-Y-0 gelding ,winning 13 out 82 (4 out 18 on All Weather ) Been in decent form this winter, winning two handicaps over 1 mile 4 at Lingfield & Kempton .Also finished creditable 1L fourth in 9.5 furlong class two handicap at Wolverhampton last time. Will be suited returning to this longer trip.

VERDICT : SENNOCKIAN STAR  stands out returning this longer trip, after finishing creditable fourth in 9.5 furlong class two handicap at Wolverhampton last time. All his best recent form has been over this 12 furlong trip .Also Still looks fairly handicapped off mark 90 ,has won off higher marks in past .Odds around 3-1 look solid value .

Petite Jack looks the obvious danger, after winning his last three starts at Lingfield, though has gone up 17LB in the weights for those three victory's,also has to prove himself on different surface away from Lingfield .Odds around 2-1, look short enough in this higher grade .

5.25 Meydan 7F Range Rover 100-112 H'cap (Thu 9th Feb )

Not the greatest start to 2017 ,with few disappointing results for blog in January ,though January is often a tricky month ,hopefully we can get back on track in February.

Moving quickly on to Thursday,we have interesting 7 furlong turf handicap at Meydan at 5.25 .

10 runners declared for the seven furlong Range Rover 100-112 Handicap .The three main contenders look to be  Flash Fire ,Tahanee & Rene Mathis .

FLASH FIRE : Five year old Gelding ,winning 5 out 25 ,including winning Victoria Cup at Ascot in May 2016 off mark 104 . Returned to form in January winning 7F handicap in good style over C&D at Meydan ,off mark 107 .Finished fair 2ND in group 2 Al Fahidi over C&D last time .Should go well returning to handicap company .

TAHANEE : Four year old South American filly ,winning two group three contests in Argentina .Shown promise on both starts at Meydan ,including finishing fair fifth of 10 in 1M group two Cape Verdi only beaten 2.5 lenghs .Should be suited by this drop in trip ,returning to handicap company .

RENE MATHIS : Seven Year old Gelding ,winning 4 out 34 on turf ,though not won since August 2015 .Finished good second of 16 over C&D in competitive handicap at Meydan last time ,behind Flash Fire .Has 5LB pull in the weights with that rival ,though not easy to win with .

VERDICT :  Flash Fire will be popular dropping down in class, after finishing good second in group two company last time at Meydan ,though faces no easy task off career high mark (112) ,has never won off mark this high .Respected though Odds around 7-4 look short enough .

At the prices TAHANEE looks solid each-way value ,after finishing promising 5TH in group two  Cape Verdi last time .The drop back to 7 furlongs in h'cap company should suit ,having raced too keenly over 1 mile last time .Looks fairly treated off mark 105 for the Mike De kock & Christophe Soumillion combination .Odds around 4-1 look very fair value.
