On Wednesday evening we have interesting 1 mile class three  handicap.On the poly track at Kempton Park .

8 runners declared for (0-95) 1 mile Fillies & mares Class three handicap at 6.20 .The three main contenders are Absolute Blast , Russian Radiance & Gleaming Girl .

ABSOLUTE BLAST : Progressive 5-Y-0 mare ,winning 2 out 4 on All Weather ,formerly trained in France.Shown some decent form since joining the Iain Jardine stable ,including bolting up in 9.5 furlong handicap at Wolverhampton last time .Up 12LB in weights for that victory ,though looks interesting contender .

RUSSIAN RADIANCE :Consistent 5-Y-0 mare ,winning 2 out 12 on All Weather .Finished decent second in 7 furlong class 3 handicap at Lingfield last time ,behind fairly useful Mick Channon trained Summer Icon .Should go well off 2LB lower mark ,returning to this longer trip .

GLEAMING GIRL : Improving 5-Y-0 mare ,winning 4 out 10 on All Weather ,including winning twice here at Kempton .Been in good form recently ,winning 8.5 furlong class three handicap at Wolverhampton last time .Up 2LB in the weights ,though still looks fairly handicapped off mark 80 .

VERDICT : Absolute Blast will have plenty supporters after bolting up last time at Wolverhampton,though the handicapper has taken no chances raising the mare 18LB in two races .Odds around even money look short enough,with this drop back in trip also an unknown .

At the prices GLEAMING GIRL looks the each-way value.Goes well here at Kempton winning twice at track back 2014 .Has been in decent form this winter ,including winning class three handicap last time at Wolverhampton .Not badly treated off 2LB higher mark ,with Aaron Jones taking off valuable 3LB. Odds around 6-1 look solid value ,against the short price favourite .

6.30 Dundalk 1M (0-96 ) Handicap (Fri 13th Jan )

On Friday evening we back in Ireland for decent looking 1 mile 0-95 handicap on poly track at Dundalk .

10 runners  declared for quality 1 mile handicap on poly track at Dundalk .The three main contenders are Chestnut Fire , Red Avenger & Reckless Lad .

CHESTNUT FIRE : Progressive 5-Y-0 gelding ,winning 3 out 7 on poly track at Dundalk ,including winning twice over C&D.Looked unlucky when beaten nose by Red Avenger over C&D in December,when finding trouble in running.Also finished creditable third in 7F handicap at Dundalk last time,finishing strongly in closing stages.Obvious claims returning to his this longer trip .

RED AVENGER : Useful sort for Ed Dunlop back in 2014/15 ,including winning the Betfred Mile at Glorious Goodwood off mark 96 .Bounced back to form after changing stables this winter ,winning last two starts over C&D for trainer D.J English .Up 11LB in weights for last two victories ,though still fairly handicapped on old form .

RECKLESS LAD : Consistent sort ,winning 5 out 25 at Dundalk ,also been placed nine times ,Been in good form this winter ,without winning ,Finished fair 2 length fourth ,behind Red Avenger last time .Should be thereabouts , though not won since November 2015 .

VERDICT :  CHESTNUT FIRE looks the one beat returning to this 1 mile trip , looked unlucky not to beat Red Avenger over C&D earlier last month ,losing on the nod ,after suffering trouble in running .Should reverse that form on 7LB better terms .Odds around 5-2 look solid value .

On Thursday we have decent looking card from Newcastle ,featuring three class two races,on the tapeta .For the blogs best bet ,we are going concentrate on the 12 furlong Betway handicap at 3.30 .

8 runners declared for quality 0-105 class two handicap at Newcastle .The four main contenders are Watersmeet , Bayre , Masterpaver & Natural Scenery .

WATERSMEET : Progressive 6-Y-0 gelding , winning 6 out 12 on All Weather ,also finished 2ND four times .Been in good form this winter ,winning 14 furlong class two handicap at Wolverhampton last time .Races off career high mark (103) , though can't be ruled out .

BAYRE :Useful 6-Y-0 Gelding on his day ,winning 5 out 18 on All Weather ,also finished 2ND five times .Returned to form last time at Lingfield ,finishing good 2ND behind the useful Pinzolo in course record time at Lingfield .Solid claims off 1LB higher mark .

MASTERPAVER : Consistent 6-Y-0 Gelding ,winning 5 out 36 on All Weather ,also been placed 13 times .Finished good second over C&D last time at Newcastle in Class 4 handicap.Looks fairly treated off 1lb higher mark .Should be thereabouts.

NATURAL SCENERY : Lightly race 4-Y-0 filly ,Winning 1 out 3 on All Weather ,including winning 12 furlong class 4 handicap at Wolverhampton in October .Finished fair 3RD in class three handicap at Lingfield in course record time.Should go well for top connections.
  
VERDICT : Natural Scenery will be popular for the Saeed Bin Suroor stable , having looked improving sort on All Weather , though was beaten off this mark last time when odds on favourite ,also is 10LB higher than last victory .Odds around 7-4 look no value .

BAYRE looks solid having finished promising second at Lingfield last time in course record time .Looked unsuited by slow early pace ,before staying on well at finish .Odds around 9-2 look decent each-way value .

9 runners declared for decent looking 12 furlong  (0-96) handicap at Dundalk .The three main contenders look to be  SONG OF LOVE, UDOGO &MAINICIN

SONG OF LOVE : Progressive 5-Y-0 gelding ,winning 4 out 15 at Dundalk,including winning in good style at Dundalk last time .Up 7LB in weights ,though won off the same mark last season .Will also be suited returning to this longer trip . 

UDOGO : Consistent sort , winning 1 out 12 at Dundalk .Been running consistently this winter without winning,including finishing good second behind Song Of Love last time at Dundalk .Has 6LB pull in the weights with that rival ,should be thereabouts ,though not easy to win with.

MAINICIN : Consistent 5-Y-0 mare , yet to win at Dundalk from 5 starts ,though has finished second three times,including finishing close second over C&D in November .Up 2lb in the weights ,though solid each-way claims .

VERDICT : SONG OF LOVE can land the hatrick .Has been in great form recently at Dundalk ,and won with plenty in hand at the track two weeks ago .Up 7LB in the weights , though has won off mark 78 .Will also be suited returning to this 12 furlong trip .Odds around 3-1 look solid value .

3.40 Meydan 9.5F (95-115) Dirt Handicap (Thu 5th Jan )

The blog returns for eighth consecutive season .We will again be concentrating on class 1 & 2 flat races .Hopefully we can have another profitable year in 2017 .

On Thursday we see the start of the Dubai Carnival at Meydan .For the blogs first bet in 2017 we are going concentrate on Longlines Passion In Equestrian handicap, on dirt over 9.5 furlongs at 3.40 .

9 runners declared for 9.5 furlong ( 95-115 ) handicap on the dirt at Meydan.The three main contenders look to be SALTARIN DUBAI,STORM BELT & TOP CLEARANCE .

SALTARIN DUBAI :  South American import , winning three times in 2016 at Palermo in Argentina ,including winning in  group one company .Not easy to weigh up that form, and has not raced since June 2016, though looks interesting runner for Mike De Kock stable .

STORM BELT :  Decent 8-Y-0 ,winning 5 out 25 on All Weather surfaces , including winning twice here at Meydan .Produced career best effort last time ,when bolting up in 10 furlong listed race .Obvious claims returning to handicap company,though has been raised 6LB in weights .

TOP CLEARANCE : Former American import ,winning 3 out 9 on All Weather surfaces ,including winning 1 mile handicap at Meydan last season , off mark 100 .Finished fair second behind Storm Belt last time, running on at finish,despite not getting clearest of runs and being forced to race wide .Should get lot closer on 7LB better terms .Each-way claims .

VERDICT: Storm Belt will be popular after bolting up in listed company last time at Meydan,though faces no easy task returning to handicap company off mark 110 , having been beaten in handicaps off lower marks last season .Odds around 7-4 look too short .

At the prices TOP CLEARANCE looks the each-way value , having finished promising second last time at Meydan .Won decent handicap here at Meydan last season ,and looks fairly treated off mark 104 . Odds around 7-1 look solid each-way value .
