Leicester 4.15 7F King Richard 111 Listed Stakes (Sat 25th April )

On Saturday we go to the East Midlands track for decent looking seven furlong listed race at Leicester .

LEICESTER 4.15 7F KING RICHARD 111 LISTED STAKES :
8 runners declared for the 7F Richard 111 Listed Stakes .On ground described as good/firm. On official ratings the three main contenders are ALJAMAAHEER ,COULSTY & SIRUIS PROSPECT.

ALJAMAAHEER :  Useful type ,Won G2 Summer Mile at Ascot in 2013.Also Shown some useful form in group one/two company over last two seasons ,including finishing third in G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot & second in G2 OLBG Park stakes at Doncaster. Obvious claims dropping into listed company .

COULSTY : Progressive sort ,winning twice last season in the 7F King Charles 11 Listed stakes at Newmarket and G3 & Prix De Meautry at Deauville .Has good record fresh, winning first time out the last two seasons . Should go well for inform Richard Hannon stable .

SIRIUS PROSPECT : Won seven out 38 , including winning three listed races .Finished fair third in Doncaster mile listed race ,behind Tulius earlier this month .However hasn't won on the turf since August 2013 .

VERDICT : Aljamaaheer is the clear pick on form .8LB clear on official BHA ratings .Takes big drop in class here, though not easiest horse to win with, only 1 win from last 13 starts. Also was beaten favourite, when last racing in Listed company back in 2013 .Odds around 11-8 simply look too short .

At the prices COULSTY looks solid each-way play .Finished last season in good form winning G3 in France .Also Proven winner in Listed company over 7 furlongs on fast ground.Has good record fresh .Odds around 4-1 look decent value .

Greenham Stakes (group 3 ) 7 furlongs (Sat 18th April )

On Saturday we have very decent card from Newbury featuring three group 3 races ,for blogs main bet we will be concentrating on the 7 furlong  Greenham Stakes at 2.50 for 3-Y-0 colts & geldings.

2.50 NEWBURY 7F GREENHAM STAKES GROUP 3:
9 runners declared for Greenham Stakes at 2.50 on ground described as good/firm .This looks high quality 2000 guineas trial .The three main contenders look to be Belardo , Estidhkaar & Ivawood .

BELARDO : Won 3 out 5 last season ,including winning Washington Singer listed stakes over C&D in August .Showed big improvement on final start last season ,winning group one Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on soft ground .Should be thereabouts ,though has reverse form with Ivawood on earlier form, and seems better horse on softer ground .

ESTIDHKAAR : Progressive sort last season ,winning 3 from 5 ,including winning both group two Superlative stakes at Newmarket & Champagne Stakes at Doncaster .Disappointed on final start of the season when finishing well fourth behind Belardo in Dewhurst .Looked unsuited by the soft ground that day .Needs bounce back ,though will be suited by this better ground .

IVAWOOD : Useful sort last season ,winning 3 out 4 , including winning G2 July stakes at Newmarket & G2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood both over 6 furlongs .Only defeat came on soft ground in 6 furlong Middle Park stakes at Newmarket when odds on favourite, just getting touched off by Charming Thought by nose .Faster ground will suit, and should stay this longer trip .

VERDICT:  Ivawood is clear second favourite for 2000 guineas and will be popular here with Hannon team already striking form in two guineas trials this week ,ground conditions will suit and the longer trip shouldn't be problem, though doesn't have much in hand on the figures and top price of 7-4 look too short .

ESTIDHKAAR will need bounce back after poor run in Dewhurst ,though  had some useful form last season, winning two group 2 races over 7F .Will also be suited by this faster ground and looks the each-way value against the short price stablemate.

4.45 Lingfield All Weather Marathon Condition Stakes 1 mile 7F 169yds

On Good Friday we have the All Weather finals day at Lingfield . I will be travelling down early Friday morning for great days racing at Lingfield .Hopefully the rain will clear away before the racing gets under way at 1.40 PM.

For the blogs main bet on the card, we have to wait for last race the 1 mile 7 furlong 32 Red All Weather Marathon at 4.45 .

4.45 LINGFIELD 1MILE 7F 169 YDS ALL WEATHER MARATHON:
11 runners declared for the All Weather Marathon on poly track at 4.45 .The three main contenders look to be Hurricane Higgins ,Anglophile & Hidden Gold .

HURRICANE HIGGINS : Useful stayer for Mark Johnston back in 2012 ,including finishing third in G2 Doncaster Cup behind Times Up .Bounced back to form on first start for Nicky Henderson, after over two year absence, when winning fast track qualifier over C&D at Lingfield at the end February. Fair record on poly track 1231 ,each-way claims .

ANGLOPHILE :Progressive 4 year old gelding ,winning three of last four ,including bolting up in fast track qualifier over C&D in January .Good record at Lingfield (121) and looks open to plenty improvement over staying trips .

HIDDEN GOLD : Fast improving filly ,winning last four starts ,including winning listed race over 13 furlongs at Lingfield in October .Won in good style at Wolverhampton last time when stepped up to 2 miles .Should go well receiving weight all round .

VERDICT: HIDDEN GOLD looks very progressive filly, winning her last four starts .Looked well suited to this longer trip when winning fast track qualifier at Wolverhampton last time .Looks sure go well receiving plenty weight off her main rivals .Odds around 10-3 look good value .

Anglophile looks the obvious danger after bolting up last time over C&D at Lingfield ,though will still need show more improvement to beat Hidden Gold on these terms .
