Thursday 31st July Goodwood Cup Bet

(Brown Panther storms home in last years Goodwood Cup  )

3.10 GOODWOOD 2 MILES GOODWOOD CUP GROUP 2 :
With two non runners 8 runners go to post for Goodwood Cup over 2 miles on good/firm ground .The three main contenders on official ratings are : Brown Panther , Cavalryman & Estimate .

BROWN PANTHER :Won nine from 22 starts, including winning this race last year in impressive style, beating Ahzeemah by 3.5 lenghs .Been in good form this season ,winning both G3 Ormande stakes at Chester & Henry 11 stakes at Sandown .Slightly disappointing when only fourth in Ascot Gold Cup , though appeared not to stay the 2 mile 4 trip. Will be suited returning to this more suitable trip.

CAVALRYMAN :Been in good form this season winning 2 out 3,including winning G2 Princess Of Wales stakes at Newmarket last time ,beating Hillstar in close finish .However was only sixth in this race last year beaten over 6 lenghs by Brown Panther .Each-way claims ,though has normally come up short in the top staying races .

ESTIMATE : Grand five year old mare ,winning four from 9 starts .Has excellent record at Ascot ,including winning last years Ascot Gold Cup .Finished excellent second in this years Ascot Gold cup ,only beaten neck by Leading Light with Brown Panther back in fourth.Obvious claims if handling the track .

VERDICT :Estimate looks sure be popular for Sir Michael Stoute & Ryan Moore ,after just getting touched off in Ascot Gold Cup last time, though has looked real Ascot specialist and this track is not sure to suit, dropping back in distance ,having been well beaten third in Lillie Langtry when favourite back in 2012 . At around 2-1, looks short enough in the market .

At the prices last years winner BROWN PANTHER looks the value .Was impressive winner of this race last year .Strictly on form has bit to find with Estimate on Ascot Gold Cup form ,though looked non stayer over that marathon trip .The return to 2 miles on fast ground will suit and looks rock solid each-way bet at 7-2 .

Sunday 27th July Pontefract Listed Stakes Bet

For Sunday's best bet we go to Pontefract for good looking listed contest over 1 mile on ground described as good/firm .

4.05 PONTEFRACT 1 MILE POMFRET LISTED STAKES :
8 runners declared for Pomfret Listed stakes over 1 mile .The three main contenders on official ratings are Artigiano , Elleval & Highland Knight .

ARTIGIANO : Very useful two year old back in 2012 ,finishing second in both the G2 Vintage stakes & Royal Lodge Stakes.Hasn't looked as good this season, after returning from long lay off ,though did finish good second in 1 mile class 2 handicap off mark 105 in June .

ELLEVAL :Had some useful form last season, including finishing second in G2 UAE Derby at Meydan. Also finished good second in G3 Enterprise Stakes at Leopardstown in September .Won 10 furlong handicap at Meydan in Feb off mark 107 .Slightly disappointing last time finishing ,fourth of 5 in 10 furlong G3 at the Curragh ,though should come on for that run .

HIGHLAND KNIGHT : Useful sort on his day ,won six 6 from 35 starts ,including winning this race two years ago .Had some decent form last season ,including winning G3 Darley Stakes at Newmarket in October .Been highly tried this season in group company, including finishing six of 9 in G2 Summer Mile at Ascot last time .Should be suited by this drop in class.

VERDICT : HIGHLAND KNIGHT can land this race for second time in three years ,has faced some difficult tasks in group company this season, however there was nothing wrong with his fourth behind French Navy in Diomed Stakes at Epsom in June under a penalty .Odds around 7-2 look very fair .

Elleval looks the main danger ,on the pick last seasons group form ,though seems better horse on poly track/tapeta,doesnt have the greatest win record on turf  (1 out 13) ,and odds around 3-1 look short enough.

HIGHLAND KNIGHT 4.05 PONTEFRACT
£50.00 EACH-WAY @ 7-2 BETVICTOR*

Thursday 24th July Silver Flash Stakes Bet

After few frustrating results in July ,it was nice to finally hit the board with Minalisa winning 6 furlong listed race at Naas @ 3-1 for tidy £180.00 profit .Hopefully we can finish the month strongly.

Moving quickly on to Thursday we stay in Ireland for good looking two year old fillies G3 race at Leopardstown on ground described as good/firm .

6.25 LEOPARDSTOWN 7F 2-Y-0 FILLIES G3 STAKES :
8 runners declared for high quality looking 7 furlong G3 two year old fillies race. The three main contenders are Jack Naylor , Marsali & Raydara

JACK TAYLOR : Improved with each start ,winning 7 furlong maiden at Roscommon in good style last time beating Syntax by 3.5 Lenghs .That didn't look the strongest race ,though her second at Fairyhouse at the end of May has worked out very well with six winners coming out of the race.Each-way claims .

MARSALI : Impressive 3.5 lengh winner on debut when winning 6 furlong maiden at Fairyhouse from wide stall in 15 runner maiden. That form hasn't really worked out with no winners coming out of the race ,though looks open to plenty improvement over this longer trip and has group one entry in Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket

RAYDARA :Eyecatching debut finishing second in hot looking maiden at the Curragh ,behind the highly regarded A . O' Brien trained Words ,that form has worked out well with both 5th & 6th from that race winning maidens next time.Made no mistake last week winning 7 furlong maiden over C&D at Leopardstown .

VERDICT : RAYDARA looks very promising sort, and the form of her second at the Curragh last month looks the strongest form in the race .Won easily in maiden over  C&D last week at Leopardstown and looks the one beat in this G3 contest . Odds around 3-1 look decent value.

Marsali looks the main danger after winning in good style at Fairyhouse on debut from bad draw, couldn't been more impressive that day and looks good prospect ,though its a bit of concern that nothing has won from that race.

RAYDARA 6.25 LEOPARDSTOWN

9 runners declared for decent looking fillies & mares sprint listed race .The three main contenders on offiial ratings are Tobann , Gathering Power & Minalisa

GATHERING POWER : Dual C&D winner at Naas ,winning two handicaps, including winning 10k handicap in April off mark 87 .However showed improved form in May ,finishing second at Haydock in 6 furlong listed race behind Joyeuse on soft ground.Bit disappointing last time only finishing 6 of eight in G3 contest at Leopardstown.

MINALISA : Consistent mare ,winning four from 14 starts .Ran some good races last season ,including finishing excellent second in this race last year ,only beaten head by Miss Lahar. Also Ran respectable 2 lengh fourth last time in 6 furlong listed race at Salisbury behind Indigant.Should go well with conditions to suit .

VERDICT :Interesting listed contest for fillies & Mares .Tobann has clearly the best form on offer here, winning decent group three contest last time, though all three of her wins have been over 7 furlongs and has never convinced over this shorter trip .Under 5lb penalty looks worth opposing.

MINALISA looks the percentage call ,having gone close in this race last year .Ran some decent races in listed company last season and looks to coming to the boil with fair fourth last time in stronger looking race .Has her optimum conditions here six furlongs on fast ground .Odds around 3-1 look very fair .

GABRIAL THE DUKE : Been in good form this season ,winning twice in June, including winning 10 furlong handicap at Salisbury by 3.5 lenghs off mark 66 .Also won claimer at Leicester .Bit disappointing last time when well beaten in four runner handicap at Yarmouth ,though will be suited returning to claiming company and looks well treated at the weights .

GABRIAL'S HOPE : Returned to form last month winning 10 furlong handicap over C&D at Redcar beating Magnolia Ridge in good style .Followed that with close second at Newcastle just getting touched off in 10 furlong handicap off mark 58 .Has bit to find on official ratings ,though comes to the race in good form.
