Monday 28th October, finishing the month with winner !!!

Good finish to the month with Tac De Boistron winning the Group one Prix Royal - Oak at Longchamp in great style .After few disappointing results recently for the blog,it's good to finish the month with nice 9-2 winner for £412 profit on the race .

October Still goes down as small losing month for the blog (-£70.00) loss. Two winners from 8 bets ,though overall the results have improved big time over last three months, since concentrating on better quality races. With 10 winners from 22 bets and profit £1461 since start of August .

The next blog update will be on Friday 1st November. I will be previewing the Breeders Cup from Santa Anita plus Newmarket's final meeting of the season .

Sunday 27th October Prix Royal Oak Bet !!!

Disappointing result yesterday with Stuccodor finishing fourth in 10 furlong Trigo listed stakes at Leopardstown behind easy winner Euphrasia .

Succodor was very well supported in market 7-2 into 2-1 ,though had every chance in the race, just never picked up in straight finishing well beaten fourth for £200.00 loss .

After two decent months in August & September .October has been disappointing month with only one winner from 7 bets with losses of £482.00 .Saying that October is never the easiest month with ground conditions changing all the time and flat season coming too end .

Nevermind moving onto Sunday we have some decent action at Longchamp in France with the highlight being group one Royal Oak over 1 mile 7 furlongs .

15 runners declared for group one Prix Royal Oak on ground described as very soft .This looks quite competitive for group one contest, with the three main contenders Altano ,Tac De Boistron & Ebiyza .

2.40 LONGCHAMP 1 MILE 7F PRIX ROYAL OAK GROUP ONE :
ALTANO : Useful German stayer winning 12 from 28 starts ,finished fifth in Ascot Gold Cup & Third in Goodwood Cup earlier in season . Returned to winning ways last time winning group one Prix Du Cadron over 2 miles 4 furlongs .Well suited by testing conditions .

TAC DE BOISTRON : Returned form in September winning 12 furlong Listed race at Chester by impressive 8 lenghs beating Cubanita(winner since) .Also Finished good second last time behind Altano in Prix Du Cadron ,getting outstayed in closing stakes .Lightly raced this season only had three starts .

EBIYZA : Lightly raced three year old filly, finished second in group two Prix Du Royallieu at Longchamp last time, though was awarded the race after getting bump in closing stages .Looks open to improvement over this longer trip .

VERDICT : TAC DE BOISTRON looks to have ideal conditions here and can reverse form with German raider Altano over this shorter trip .All six career victories have come on soft or heavy ground and 2 miles seems his best trip .Odds 9-2 with William Hill look very fair value.

Altano has to be respected after winning Prix Du Cadron last time ,though seems better suited by further than 2 miles .

On Saturday we have plenty top quality action in Uk & Ireland ,with the highlight being the group one Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster .

This years race looks very competitive with  11 runners declared .Kingston Mill looks to have best form after winning group three Autumn Stakes at Newmarket ,though there looks too many unknowns in the race to have any serious bet .

For the days main bet we go over to Leopardstown for interesting 10 furlong Listed race at 3.45

3.45 LEOPARDSTOWN 10 FURLONG TRIGO  LISTED STAKES :
10 runners declared for 10 furlong listed race on soft/heavy ground .On official handicap ratings this looks competitive listed race the three main contenders look to be Stuccodor ,Tarana & Uleavemebreathless .

STUCCODOR :Improving 4-Y-0, Dual course winner at Leopardstown ,landed five timer in May at Tipperary in 7 furlong conditions race .Also won three handicaps ,including 6 lengh winner at Leopardstown in April . Finished respectable fifth of 10 in 1 mile group three at Curragh last  time .Will be suited returning to this longer trip on soft ground .

TARANA : Lightly raced 3-Y-0 filly, won her only start as two year old last season in 1 mile maiden at Curragh in September .Looks open to plenty improvement over this longer trip ,though has long absence to overcome and unproven on soft ground .

ULEAVEMEBREATHLESS: Consistent filly ,though only win came in 7 furlong maiden Roscommon last season .Finished good second in 9 furlong group three at Gowan Park last month behind useful Mango Diva .Also ran fair third last week in listed race at Naas behind Wannabe Better .Should be thereabouts with ground conditions to suit .

VERDICT : STUCCODOR with ground conditions in his favour, can get back to winning ways, the return to 10 furlongs will also suit .Has good record at Leopardstown unbeaten in two starts . Trainer Dermot Weld  has excellent record in race winning the race for the last three years .Odds  7-2 with BET365 look good value .

Of the others Uleavemebreathless should be thereabouts after two creditable efforts recently in listed and group company .

Sunday 20th October Listed Stakes Bet !!!

Not great day yesterday for blog at Ascot, with both selections under performing. In particular Mareek in British Champions Sprint, running very poorly after playing up in stalls and then completely missing the break, that more or less put paid to his chance in the race.

The second bet on Talent in British Champions fillies & mares had every chance ,though had to settle for third behind impressive winner Seal of Approval .Overall disappointing day with £256 loss .

Moving quickly on to Sunday we have decent looking 1 mile listed race at Naas for fillies and mares on ground described as yielding/soft .

3.15 NAAS 1 MILE FILLIES & MARES GARNET LISTED STAKES :
13 runners declared for 1 mile fillies & mares listed race .This looks competitive race with plenty possible chances, the three main contenders  Pearl Of Africa ,Rasmeyaa & Spinacre

PEARL OF AFRICA : Improving filly landing hatrick in July .Creditable efforts on her last two starts in group company ,finishing good third behind Say in group three at Curragh in September .Also finished good fourth last time behind the useful Belle De Crecy in group two Blandford stakes.Should go well with this drop in class.

RASMEYAA : Lightly raced filly ,Impressive winner of maiden at Leopardstown last October .Well supported for 1000 guineas at Newmarket in May ,though finished disappointing 14th .Returned to form last time finishing good third behind Fiesolana in group three contest over 7 furlongs .Looks open to improvement over this longer trip .

SPINACRE :Decent two year old for Kevin Prendergast last season winning two races, including listed race at Curragh .Hasn't shown much this season though has been highly tried in group company .Has first start for Roger Varian today and takes drop in class ,though will need bounce back after some disappointing efforts recently .

VERDICT : Rasmeyaa looks open to plenty improvement after just four starts, and has to be respected after finishing good third  in group company last time .However odds around 5-2 look very short in competitive race .

PEARL OF AFRICA  reunited with Johnny Murtagh, looks solid here after putting two creditable efforts in group company .Will be suited by this drop in class and returning to 1 mile. Odds around 9-2 look fair value .

MAAREK : In great form recently winning group one Prix De L 'Abbaye at Longchamp last time.Has fantastic record over 5 or 6 furlongs on soft / heavy ground (1121212331141).Also won this race last year .Obvious claims with conditions sure to suit .

SLADE POWER :Consistent Sprinter winning 6 times from 14 starts .Won twice this season in group three company at Curragh . Also finished creditable second in group one Sprint Cup at Haydock last time behind Gordon Lord Byron .Seems to handle any ground .

VERDICT : Last years winner MAAREK will relish these testing ground conditions .The return to 6 furlongs in group two company will also suit and looks the one beat here .Odds around 3-1 look good value.

Of the others both Jack Dexter & Slade Power are decent sorts with each-way claims ,though will both need produce career best efforts to land this group two contest .

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BRITISH CHAMPIONS FILLIES & MARES 12 FURLONGS GROUP 1 :
9 runners declared for 12 furlong fillies & mares G1 championship .On official figures this looks another competitive race with the two main contenders being Dalkala & Talent

DALKALA :Decent French filly winning 6 from 12 starts .Won 10 furlong G2 Middleton Stakes at York in May .Returned to winning ways last time winning G1 Prix De L ' Opera over 10 furlongs on soft ground .Should go well with conditions to suit .

TALENT : Impressive winner of Epsom Oaks in June beating stable companion Secret Gesture by an easy 3.75 lenghs on softish ground .Bounced back to form last time finishing creditable second in St Leger at Doncaster behind Leading Light again on softish ground .Will be suited returning to fillies & mares company.

THE LARK : Finished fair third in Epsom Oaks behind Talent in June.Returned to form last time winning Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster over 14 furlongs in good style,Will also be suited by soft Ground conditions .

VERDICT : TALENT looks to have plenty in her favour here after running excellent second in St Leger last time against the colts.Seems well suited to soft surface and won't have any problems returning to 12 furlongs .Odds around 7-2 look very fair.

Of the others The Lark could go well at decent odds ,has bit to find with Talent ,though was good winner of Park Hill Stakes last time and  ground conditions will suit .

Sunday 13th October Waterford Testimonial Listed Stakes Bet

Enjoyable day at Newmarket yesterday ,though very difficult to find the winners with some big turn ups .The main bet of the day on Lockwood was very disappointing  in group two Dubai Challenge Stakes.

Having played up at the start Lockwood never ran his race finishing last of 9 for £100 loss on the race .Nevermind moving on to Sunday we have decent looking card from the Curragh which includes three Listed races .Going concentrate on 6 furlong Waterford Testimonial listed race at 2.55

11 runners go to post for good looking listed race over 6 furlongs on ground described as good. The two main contenders being Balmont Mast & Cristoforo Colombo .

2.55 CURRAGH 6F WATERFORD TESTIMONIAL LISTED STAKES :

BALMONT MAST : Useful sprinter on his day .Showed some decent form earlier in the season at Meydan only getting beat neck in G1 Dubai Golden Shaheen. Also finished decent fifth of 15 behind Russian Soul last time at Curragh only beaten 1 lengh .Will be suited by this drop in class .

CRISTOFORO COLOMBO : Decent 2 year old last season finishing third in Coventry stakes behind Dawn Approach and fourth in Middle Park at Newmarket behind Reckless Abandon .though very lightly raced this season after finishing fifth in 2000 guineas in May .Returned to some kind form last time winning weak looking conditions race at Dundalk over 6 furlongs .

VERDICT : BALMONT MAST dropping back into listed company looks the one to beat here after running some decent races in G1 company earlier in the season .Ran creditable fifth last time over C&D after 4 month break .Goes well this time year with all four career victories coming in October .Odds around 3-1 look very fair value .

Cristoforo Colombo looks the obvious danger if he can reproduce his two year old form ,though did finish behind Balmont Mast over this C&D in September .

Saturday 12th October Future Champions Day Bet

On Saturday we have an early start. I will be making the 70 mile trip form Lowestoft too Newmarket for Future champions day .The weather forecast doesn't look great, though hopefully it wont be too bad when the racing gets under way at 2.05 .

Newmarket stage a cracking seven race card with 6 group races plus the Betfred Cesarewitch Handicap on Rowley mile course .

Going concentrate on the first race on the card the 7 furlong group two Dubai Challenge Stakes for my main bet of the day .

10 runners declared for 7 furlong group two contest ,with plenty rain forecast ground is likely to be on the soft side . This looks quite competitive  race with the four main contenders being .Darwin ,Lockwood, Amarillo & Fiesolana

DARWIN :Progressive 3-Y-0, winning three from five starts ,including beating Gordon Lord Byron in 7 furlong group three contest in July on fast ground .Slightly disappointing last time when beaten odds on favourite in 1 mile G3 contest at Curragh .

LOCKWOOD :In good form winning two of last three starts ,including winning G3 Supreme stakes at Goodwood in August .Also finished good second last time in G2 Park Stakes at Doncaster.Goes well on soft ground and will suited by any more rain .

FIESOLANA :Improving Irish filly ,Already won four times this season ,including two G3 races .Finished fair fifth last time in G1 Matron stakes at Curragh over 1 mile .Seems to handle any ground and should go well dropping into G2 company .

VERDICT : Darwin looked good when beating Gordon Lord Byron at Curragh in July ,though may been flattered by that result ,and was disappointing last time when beaten odds on favourite .Soft ground conditions would also be concern .

LOCKWOOD has been in top form recently and looks to have ideal conditions here 7 furlongs on easy ground .Finished good second last time behind the useful filly Irish Filly Viztoria in group 2  at Doncaster .Odds around 9-2 looks decent each-way value .

Of the others Fiesolana has to be respected after showing some decent form in top fillies races this season and German raider Amarillo could also go well if reproducing his early season form ,which includes finishing second to Moonlight Cloud .

Sunday 6TH October Prix Da La Foret Bet

Disappointing result on Friday with Dark Crusader running an absolute stinker in 1 mile 6F listed race at Ascot .After being heavily supported in market going off the 5-4 fav from recommended 7-2 (25P IN £ RULE 4)

Dark Crusader seemed to have ideal conditions, however after pulling hard in messy race she was soon beaten finishing very disappointing last of 6 for £100 loss on the race .

No bets on Saturday as the racing looked very tough at Ascot & Newmarket .

Moving on to Sunday we have some top quality racing in Paris with the highlight being Europe's premier race the Prix De L ' Arc De Triomphe .The Japanese trained Oferve looks the one to beat after getting mugged in the race last year ,though odds around 9-4 don't rate great value in such competitive  race .Treve & Intello should also both run well at fair odds .

Looking at the other races on the card the G1 Prix  Da La Foret at 4.40 looks the most interesting race on the card.

4.40 LONGCHAMP 7 FURLONG PRIX DA LA FORET GROUP ONE :
11 runners declared for G1 Prix Da La Foret over 7 furlongs on ground described as soft .This looks cracking race with two main contenders Gordon Lord Byron & Moonlight Cloud .

GORDON LORD BYRON :Won this race last year in good style on heavy ground .Also impressive winner of G1 Haydock sprint cup last time beating Slade Power by 3 lenghs .Well suited to soft ground and should go well for Johnny Murtagh .

MOONLIGHT CLOUD :Unbeaten this season winning all three starts ,including beating Gordon Lord Byron in G1 Prix Maurice De Gheest in August by 2.5 lenghs .Won the 1 mile G1 Jacques Le Marois last time at Deauville beating Olympic Glory by short head .Obvious claims with conditions to suit .

VERDICT : Moonlight Cloud is going be very popular here after beating the best colts in 1 mile Jacques Le Marois last time at Deauville ,though looks very short in market and there looks no value at around 8-11 mark

Last years winner GORDON LORD BYRON has to reverse form with Moonlight Cloud ,though wasn't at his best that day, however looked right back to his best last time when impressive winner G1 Haydock sprint cup .Has ideal conditions today 7 furlongs on soft ground .At odds of 7-2 looks rock solid each-way bet against the short price favourite ,especially with the bookmakers going 1/4 odds 1-2-3 .

Of the others Viztoria looks an improving filly and was impressive winner of  G2 OBLG Park Stakes at Doncaster last time, and has very good record on softish ground ,though will need to show lot more improvement to take this group 1 contest .

GORDON LORD BYRON 4.40 LONGCHAMP

Friday 4th October Listed Stakes Bet !!!

September finished up very decent month for blog with £901 / 9.01 pt profit with four winners from seven bets . (9-2) (4-1) (11-4) (5-2) for + 90% return on investment profit on the month.

After terrible start  to the year £1373 /13.73 loss for first six months ,the blog has really bounced back to form over last two months with 8 winners from 14 bets and profits £1531/15.31 for August and September .

With the blog now showing very small profit for the year of £158/1.58 pts. Hopefully we can have good final three months of the year and make this the fourth winning year in row since the blog started in Feb 2010 .

I think the changes made at the start of August have made big difference.Which has been concentrating on quality races (listed and upwards) .The results have shown big improvement .

Moving on to Friday we have couple decent looking races at Ascot 1 mile 6 furlong listed Stakes & over in Ireland,Dundalk stage good quality group three race over 1 mile 3 furlongs on there evening card.

Going concentrate on Ascot's feature race at 3.40 on ground described as good/soft .

3.40 ASCOT 1 MILE 6F UNDERWRITING  NOEL MURLESS LISTED STAKES:
8 runners declared for 14 furlong Listed race at Ascot .On paper this looks competitive listed race with the three main contenders look to be Dabadiyan .Greatwood & Dark Crusader .

DABADIYAN : Landed hatrick earlier this summer ,including winning decent looking 12 furlong handicap at Curragh of mark 92 . Finished fair second last time behind the useful Afonso De Sousa in conditions race at Dundalk .

GREATWOOD :Consistent sort ,though only win came in maiden at Kempton last season .No show in group two company at York & Ascot ,though returned to form last time finishing second in 12 furlong class 2 handicap at Doncaster off mark 102 .

DARK CRUSADER : Fast improving filly since stepping up in trip ,landing hatrick last time at York winning the 14 furlong Melrose handicap in good style off mark 90 .Looking well suited by soft ground conditions.

VERDICT : Dabadiyan has highest BHA rating 107 and to be respected after winning three times this summer ,though is unproven over this trip and has yet race on softish ground .

DARK CRUSADER is stepping up in class ,though looks fast improving filly since stepping up in trip and will be suited by soft ground conditions .Trainer Tony Martin has done well with his few Flat runners in UK this season  2 out 3 .Odds around 7-2 look good value .

Of the others Greatwood should be thereabouts after finishing good second last time at Doncaster ,though has only won maiden at Kempton and is unproven over this longer trip .
