Sunday 30th June Pretty Polly Stakes Bet

On Sunday we have top quality card from the Curragh with the feature race being the group one Pretty Polly Stakes for Filly's and Mares over 10 furlongs .

3.35 CURRAGH PRETTY POLLY STAKES G1 FILLYS & MARES:
10 runners declared for group one Pretty Polly Stakes on ground described as good to firm .The three main contenders look to be Alive Alive Oh , Was & Princess Highway .

ALIVE ALIVE OH : Won both starts this season ,including 10 furlong listed race at Navan in May  by impressive 6 lenghs .Still looks open to plenty improvement  ,though takes big step up in class and yet to race on ground this fast .

WAS : Won Epsom Oaks last season beating Shirocco Star & The Fugue in close finish. Also finished third in Group one Nassau Stakes at Goodwood & Yorkshire Oaks at York .Found the mile trip too short when finishing unplaced in Abu Dhabi Stakes at Curragh last time .

PRINCESS HIGHWAY : Had some useful form last season winning three times, including group two Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot by impressive 6 lenghs ,though has looked disappointing on her last three starts, including when beaten odds on favourite at Naas last time .Will need to bounce back to win in group one company ,

VERDICT : Alive Alive Oh looks open to plenty improvement this season ,though has only won in listed company, also is unproven on ground this fast, and was withdrawn from Ribblesdale stakes at Royal Ascot last week on similar ground .Odds around 2-1 look too short for horse who has never raced in group company

WAS has proven form at group one level on fast ground .She Ran with credit in most top group one fillies races last season.Should come on for her first run of the season .9-2 looks very fair value in not the strongest looking group one contest .

Princess Highway has been disappointing on recent starts and will need to bounce back in first time blinkers, though can't be ruled out and would go close if she can reproduce last season's Ripplesdale form when beating The Fugue by 6 lenghs.

Criterion Stakes & Irish Derby Bets !!!

On Saturday we have some top quality racing action from Newcastle,Newmarket & Curragh .Going concentrate on the two main races the Irish Derby & Bet365 Criterion Stakes .

Over at Headquarters we have good looking 7 furlong group three contest with nine runners declared on good ground .The three main contenders look to be Hawkeyethenoo,Pastoral Player & Producer .

HAWEYETHENOO :High class handicapper over 5 to 7 furlongs winning stewards cup & Victoria Cup .Been running with credit in group races this season including finishing fair sixth in group one Golden Jubilee stakes at Royal Ascot last time .However is 0 from 6 in group company.

PASTORAL PLAYER : Group three winner over 7 furlongs at Haydock last season.Looked unlucky last time when trying to win the race for second year running, when getting beat short head after not getting the clearest run.Obvious claims in similar race.

PRODUCER :Group three 7 furlong winner at Goodwood last season.Returned to form when winning listed race at Leicester in April beating the useful Aljamaaheer by head .Looked non stayer over 9 furlongs last time at Epsom .

VERDICT : Producer should go well here returning to his optimum trip ,all six career wins have come over seven furlongs and has winning form in this grade .

However preference is for PASTORAL PLAYER who was very unlucky not to score in group three company last time and can gain compensation here. This race should be run to suit with confirmed front runners Red Jazz & Libranno in the race .Odds around 3-1 look decent value .

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the second bet we go over to Ireland for weekends feature race the Irish Derby .This looks match race between the first and second from Epsom Derby. Ruler Of The World & Libertarian .

RULER OF THE WORLD : Unbeaten colt winning Chester Vase & going on to win Epsom Derby in good style .Seemed to win with plenty in hand at Epsom ,though that looked very tactical race run in very slow time .

LIBERTARIAN :Shock 33-1 winner of Dante at York in May .Proved that was no fluke finishing excellent second in Epsom Derby .Looked unsuited by track and the slow pace there, and did well to finish second.Looks open to plenty improvement and should be suited better by this track.

VERDICT : Ruler of the World looks the one to beat on his Epsom form ,though there still remains doubt about the form of that race .Odds around 11-10 look too short .

LIBERTARIAN has 1.5 lenghs to find with Ruler Of World ,though this track looks certain to suit much better than Epsom .At around four times the price looks solid each-way bet against short price favourite.

Royal Ascot Day Five

The Final day at Royal Ascot with two feature races being group one Diamond Jubilee stakes over 6 furlongs & Group two Hardwick Stakes over 12 furlongs .

Going concentrate on group two Hardwicke stakes at 3.05 .which looks interesting race with nine runners declared .The three main contenders look to be Mount Athos , Ektihaam & Thomas Chippendale .

3.05 ROYAL ASCOT 1 MILE 4F HARDWICKE STAKES G2
MOUNT ATHOS : Improving six year old ,won three times last season, including group three Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury in August beating Brown Panther .Returned to action with an easy win at Chester in May in G3 Ormonde stakes .Should go well ,though not certain to be suited by this shorter trip .

EKTIHAAM :Shown improved form this season ,finishing good third on Seasonal reappearance in Gordon Richard stakes at Sandown behind the very useful Al Kazeem .Looked very impressive last time when winning over C&D in listed race at Ascot beating Thomas Chippendale by 6 lenghs.Looks open to plenty improvement over this trip .

THOMAS CHIPPENDALE :C&D winner at Royal Ascot winning G2 King Edward V11 stakes last season .Finished second on both starts this season ,including excellent second behind Al Kazeem in Gordan Richard stakes .Has plenty to find with Ektihaam on there last meeting ,though looked unsuited by slowly run race.

VERDICT : Mount Athos is 2LB clear on BHA ratings and looks typical Luca Cumani improving older horse .However this shorter trip is concern .All his best form seems to be over 1 mile 5 + and could get done for pace over this shorter trip .

EKTIHAAM looks open to plenty improvement over this trip and looked very good when winning over C&D last time beating the reliable Thomas Chippendale by 6 lenghs .Looks the one to beat and odds around 3-1 look fair value .

Thomas Chippendale goes well here at Ascot and would be suited  by any rain having won twice on soft ground ,though has plenty to find with Ektihaam. Looked unsuited by slowly run race that day .Should get much stronger pace today and can go well decent odds .

SATURDAY 22ND JUNE
EKTIHAAM 3.05 ROYAL ASCOT
0.50 PTS EACH-WAY @ 3-1 BET365*

Passing of true Legend .RIP SIR HENRY CECIL 1943-2013

Tuesday 11th June is one of horse racing's saddest days-the loss of absolute legend Sir Henry Cecil .He was masterful trainer who won 25 British classics and guided the brilliant Frankel to 14 straight wins .Sir Henry won 75 races at Royal Ascot .Next week's meeting will not be the same without him.

Sunday 9th June Listed Stakes Bet

No luck yesterday with Pastoral Player getting beat short head in group three timeform jury stakes at Haydock .

Very frustrating race as Pastoral Player would clearly won the race with anything like clear run .When your luck's out these close finishes always seem to go the wrong way .

Nevermind hopefully we can have change luck soon .Moving on to Sunday we have interesting 10 furlong listed race at the Curragh at 3.50

3.50 CURRAGH 10F TRM SILVER STAKES LISTED RACE:
10 runners declared for very decent looking listed race at the Curragh on fast ground .The three main contenders look to be Trading Leather ,Lines of Battle & Zand

TRADING LEATHER :Won twice last season including the group three Autumn Stakes at Newmarket over 1 mile .Also finished good second in the Dante at York in May behind subsequent Derby second Libertarion .Ran another solid race last time finishing third in Irish 2000 guineas behind Magician .Looks sure go well dropping back to listed company .

ZAND : Promising sort ,won 1 mile maiden at Leopardstown on soft ground in October .Looks open to plenty improvement this season and has plenty big race enteries later in the season .However has been off the course for 8 months and tackles fast ground for first time .

LINES OF BATTLE :Won three times from 7 starts ,including group two contest over 10 furlongs at Meydan in March.Far from disgraced finishing seventh in Kentucky Derby last month . Will be suited by this drop in class and should go well .

VERDICT : This looks quite hot listed race on paper .Trading Leather looks the one to beat after running well in both Dante & Irish 2000 guineas .However is only 2LB clear on official handicap ratings and odds around 11-8 don't look great value .

At the prices LINES OF BATTLE  looks the each-way play here at 5-1 , has been running with credit in some top races including Kentucky Derby & Breeders Cup  juvenile .Has also won in group two company this season and will be suited by this drop back into listed company

Zand looks promising type, though odds around 3-1 look short for horse who has only won in maiden company and is unproven on very fast ground .

SUNDAY 9TH JUNE LISTED STAKES BET :
LINES OF BATTLE 3.50 CURRAGH
£50.00 EACH-WAY @ 5-1 STAN JAMES* & BOYLESPORTS*

Saturday 8th June Listed Stakes Bet

Another very busy Saturday with six flat cards. Haydock Park staging the best quality card with two decent group three contests being the highlight.Going concentrate on the 7 furlong Timeform Jury group three stakes at 3.15 .

3.15 HAYDOCK 7F TIMEFORM JURY STAKES GROUP 3:
Eight runners declared for decent looking 7 furlong group three contest at Haydock Park .The main contenders look to be Eton Forever ,Pastoral Player & Red Jazz .

ETON FOREVER : Useful soft ground performer over 7 & 8 furlongs .Won decent 7 furlong listed race over C&D at Haydock in May beating the useful Gregorian .However fast ground is major concern having never won on ground this fast .

PASTORAL PLAYER : Won this race last year in good style beating Majestic Myles .Also showed some decent form last season in group two company finishing second twice . Should come on for first run of the season behind Eton Forever and will be suited by fast ground .

RED JAZZ : Consistent sort, though not the easiest horse to win with these days .Won 7 furlong listed race over C&D last May,though finished well behind Pastoral Player in this race last year . Ran fair third on seasonal reappearance behind Eton Forever .Should be thereabouts ,though more likely to be placed than win .

VERDICT : Eton Forever would take plenty of beating if reproducing last months C&D form when beating subsequent group three winner Gregorian ,though has poor record on ground this fast and looks worth taking on at around 5-2 .

Last years winner PASTORAL PLAYER looks to have ideal conditions here and can reverse form with Eton Forever on this much faster ground .Showed decent form last season at higher level and can take this race for second year running .Odds around 3-1 look good value .

SATURDAY 8TH JUNE GROUP THREE BET :
PASTORAL PLAYER 3.15 HAYDOCK
1PT EACH-WAY @ 3-1 BETFRED*
(SECOND SP 5-2 LOSS £40.00 (BEATEN SHORT HEAD )

Friday 7th June Listed Stakes Bet

This has been disappointing year for the blog after three winning years with profits of over £7600/76.00 Pts .Things haven't gone to plan in 2013.After slow start on the All Weather this winter the results haven't improved so far on the turf  .With nine point loss this year from 15 bets .

I have made changes to the blog this year and this has been mistake. The bets have suffered big time with some disappointing results .However I think I've discovered were I was going wrong and hopefully we can get back on track over the next few months .

Moving on to Friday we have decent looking five furlong listed race at Haydock Park's evening card .

8.15 HAYDOCK 5 FURLONG LISTED RACE CLASS 1
Eleven runners declared for the days feature race at Haydock ,this looks competitive sprint with the four main contenders being .Medicean Man ,Excelette, Jiroft & My Propeller .

MEDICEAN MAN : Won decent 5 furlong handicap at Meydan in January off mark 107 .Has the highest BHA rating 110 ,though not the most consistent filly and has struggled in listed company in the past .

EXCELLETE: Consistent filly, won this race last year beating Spirit Quartz by neck .Showed plenty useful form last season in listed company .Finished fair fourth on her seasonal reappearance in listed race at Bath

MY PROPELLER :Finished good second on her seasonal reappearance in fillies listed race at Bath with Excellete 3/4 lengh behind in fourth .No show in group three contest at Newmarket last time ,though will be suited returning to listed company .

JIROFT : Had some useful form in Italy winning 8 races ,including in listed company .Ran close fifth  in Epsom dash handicap on the first start for Robert Cowell . Yet to race on fast ground ,though still looks interesting runner .

VERDICT : This looks competitive listed race on official handicap ratings .

Jiroft looks interesting runner on his Italian form and ran well on his first start in the UK ,though all his best form has been on soft ground . Odds around 4-1 look little short for horse unproven on very fast ground .

At the prices last years winner EXCELETTE looks fair value here at 5-1 ,has plenty solid form in listed company and ground conditions will also suit .Should come on for her reappearance run in April and looks solid each-way bet .

Of the other runners My Propeller looks best of the rest ,with Ryan Moore riding for first time looking interesting jockey booking and looks closely matched with Excellette on earlier form.

FRIDAY 7TH JUNE LISTED STAKES BET :
EXCELETTE 8.15 HAYDOCK
0.50 PTS EACH-WAY @ 5-1 *BETVICTOR
