Quiet Spell

Just quick update ,not much happening recently with the bad weather playing havoc with the racing. The All Weather racing has been very poor this month ,with not many suitable betting opportunities in claiming races .

On Wednesday we have 1 mile claiming stakes on poly track at Lingfield with just six runners declared . This looks another uncompetitive claimer with RED SOMERSET looking the one to beat having won five times in 2012 and was impressive winner of 1 mile seller on Monday at Wolverhampton.

No claiming bet today ,though I do finally have an each-way double bet on my other blog.Click on the link below for details .

Claiming Stakes Analysis !!!

On Wednesday we have three claiming races ,though again all three races have small fields. At Lingfield the first race on the card is 2 mile claiming stakes at 12.30 .

LA ESTELLA made hard work winning 12 furlong claimer last time at Wolverhampton ,though only has Right Stuff to beat in another weak looking claimer and should make this win number 24.

Moving on to the 7 furlong classified claiming stakes at 1.30 ,with two non runners, just four runners go to post.

Course specialist PAPHOS was good winner over course & distance on Monday at Lingfield in class 5 handicap (Making All) ,should take some catching here and can record his seventh win at the track.

At Kempton we have 1 mile claiming stakes at 4.45 ,with just six runners declared . HURRICANE SPIRIT won in good style last time in 1 mile claimer at Lingfield ,beating One Way Or Another ,that form has been boosted with that horse winning his next two starts .Six time course winner APRIL FOOL goes well here at Kempton and looks the main danger ,especially if he gets an easy lead ,though will need to bounce back after some below par efforts recently.

With the small fields ,there doesn't look lot value in claiming races today ,just watching brief and hopefully we will be back in action on Friday .

Monday 14th January Claiming Bet

We are finally back in action after quiet spell recently .On Monday we have 7 furlong claiming stakes on poly track at Wolverhampton

1.50 WOLVERHAMPTON 7F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6:
10 runners declared for 7 furlong claimer at Wolverhampton. On official handicap ratings the three main contenders are Rakaan , Frequency & Polar Kite .

RAKAAN :Won 1 mile class 3 handicap at Wolverhampton in November off mark 85 ,been running consistently since in handicap company .Looks well treated at the weights and should go well dropping down in grade .

FREQUENCY : Good record in claiming company 5 out 10 ,Also goes well here at Wolverhampton with three wins at the track .Won 6 furlong handicap at Ayr in August of mark 74 ,not been in greatest form since, though has plenty winning form in this grade .

POLAR KITE : Won 7 furlong claimer at Kempton last month ,had Frequency five lenghs back in third .though looked disappointing last time in handicap over Course & Distance .Will be suited returning to claiming company .

VERDICT: Rakaan dropping down in grade has obvious claims in this claimer , though has been beaten both times when favourite in claiming company .Odds around 8-11 represent no real value and looks worth taking on at short price .

FREQUENCY at big price looks fair each-way value at around 10-1,has good record in claiming company 5 out 10 and goes particularly well here at  Wolverhampton .Joe Fanning back on board also looks positive jockey booking having won on horse 4 times .

Of the others Polar Kite should also be thereabouts having won claimer at Kempton last month ,though will need bounce back after poor run last time.

MONDAY 14TH JANUARY CLAIMING STAKES BET :
FREQUENCY 1.50 WOLVERHAMPTON
0.50 PTS EACH-WAY @ 10-1 BET365*,BET VICTOR*. BETFRED*
(UNPLACED SP 10-1 LOSS £100.00 )

Another Blank Day !!!

On Friday we have 12 furlong claiming stakes at Wolverhampton's evening card ,though we have another small field with just five runners declared .

Course specialist Stand Guard cannot be opposed in this weak looking claimer and should record his eighth win at the track .However odds around 4-6 make little betting appeal .

The racing this week on the All Weather has been very poor with far too many small fields ,though this is always major problem in January & February, especially in non handicap races, were you seem to see 4 or 5 runner races all the time .

With cold snap forecast for next couple of weeks, there looks like being very few suitable betting opportunities on All Weather .Just got to stay patient and hopefully we will be back in action soon.

Quick Update

This looks like being very quiet week, with limited opportunities in non handicap flat races so far this week .The main problem has been the small fields ,with very little value in five or six runner races .

Hopefully we will be back in action later in the week ,with possible betting opportunities at Wolverhampton on Friday & Lingfield on Saturday .

Weekly Results Round Up

Disappointing start to 2013 with both bets running very poorly this week .The first bet was on Thursday on Hardy Red in 6 furlong claiming stakes at Wolverhampton.

Really disappointing effort from Hardy Red after being heavily supported in the market 11-4 into 5-4 ,though was in trouble long way out weakening quickly in the straight ,finishing last of 4 and £200 / 2.00 loss on the race.

Saturday's bet on Officer In Command in 10 furlong classified claiming stakes at Lingfield ,had no real excuses just never picked up in straight finishing sixth, most disappointing for another £200 loss .

Overall not good start to the year with £400 loss on the week ,though these bad weeks will happen now and again .Long term profits are what count in this game and hopefully we can bounce back next week .

THE RESULTS :

ON THE WEEK :
2 BETS ) 0 WINNERS ) 2 UNPLACED )
LOSS - £400 / 4.00 PTS

OVERALL AFTER WEEK ONE :
2 BETS ) 0 WINNERS ) 0 SECONDS ) 0 THIRDS ) 2 UNPLACED)
LOSS £400 / 4.00 PTS

Saturday 5th January claiming stakes bet

Early start on Saturday at Lingfield with the first race on the card 10 furlong 0-70 classified claiming stakes at 11.50 .

11.50 LINGFIELD 10F CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES 0-70 :
Nine runners declared for 10 furlong classified stakes on poly track at Lingfield .This looks competitive race with five course winners .The four main contenders look to be Officer In Command ,Carter ,Daniel Thomas & Resplendent Alpha .

OFFICER IN COMMAND : Three time course & distance winner at Lingfield , won 10 furlong seller in July .Been running consistently since finishing placed three times .Disappointing run last time in handicap .though has fair record in claiming company (3212) .Should go well with cheek pieces refitted .

CARTER : Won four times in 2011 in handicap company ,though disappointing in five starts last year .Looks well treated at the weights and drops into claiming company for first time .

DANIEL THOMAS : Won seven times in 2012 and goes particularly well here at Lingfield with 6 course wins .Won 10 furlong seller last time over course & distance winning in good style .This looks stronger race ,though can't be ruled out in wide open race.

RESPLENDENT ALPHA : Consistent sort ,won three times in 2012 the last win coming over course & distance in seller three weeks ago .Goes well at this track and should be thereabouts off bottom weight .

VERDICT : Carter is 4LB clear on official handicap ratings ,though is hard to assess after some poor efforts recently .Will need to bounce back in first time blinkers ,though there remains big question mark .

OFFICER IN COMMAND has been running well in handicap company and last three wins came over this course & distance .Should also be suited returning to claiming company and can win open looking race .

Of the others both Daniel Thomas & Resplendent Alpha should be thereabouts ,though are taking on stronger opposition here.

SATURDAY 5TH JANUARY CLAIMING STAKES BET:
OFFICER IN COMMAND 11.50 LINGFIELD
1PT EACH-WAY @ 11-4  BET365* .STAN JAMES* BETFRED*
(UNPLACED SP 3-1 -LOSS £200 / 2.00 PTS )

Quick Update

Disappointing result on Thursday with Hardy Red running shocker in 6 furlong claiming stakes at Wolverhampton. After being very well supported in the market 11-4 into 5-4 ,though weakened very quickly in the straight finishing well beaten last of 4.For £200 loss on the race.

Moving on to Friday we have 5 furlong claiming stakes at  Wolverhampton 4.00 .Master of disguise is now non runner leaving just 7 runners .

Favourite Drawnfromthepast looks solid here after winning his last two claiming races and looks well treated at the weights ,though with 6 course and distance winners in the race looks poor value at around 5-4 .

Of the others three time course winner Mother Jones also looked possible each-way option off bottom weight (7 stone 13lb) ,goes particularly well here at Wolverhampton ,though will need to bounce back after disappointing run at Lingfield yesterday.

Not betting race for me with too many question marks about the seven ruuners, though I do expect to be back in action tomorrow with interesting 10 furlong classified claiming stakes at Lingfield .

Thursday January 3rd Claiming Bet !!!

On Thursday we have 6 furlong three year old claiming stakes on poly track at Wolverhampton .Another small field with just five runners declared .

2.35 WOLVERHAMPTON 6F CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES 0-75
Just five runners declared for 0-75 three year old classified claiming stakes at Wolverhampton .On official handicap figures this looks three horse race between Hardy Red , Hidden Coin & Windforpower .

HARDY RED : Won 6 furlong handicap at Ffos Las on heavy ground off mark 70 in September .Returned to form last week when just touched off in 7 furlong claimer at Wolverhampton .Should go well dropping back to 6 furlongs .

HIDDEN COIN :Won 6 furlong maiden on the turf at Redcar in May , though well beaten on next two starts in better company .Makes  poly track debut and not easy to assess on his first start for nearly 6 months .

WINDFORPOWER : Consistent sort ,won two races over 5 furlongs at Lingfield ,including winning weak looking 4 runner seller last time .Not badly treated off bottom weight ,though this looks stronger race.

VERDICT : This looks tight little race on official handicap ratings, with little to choose between the three main contenders.

HARDY RED ran well here last Thursday in claimer over 7 furlongs and should be suited returning to this shorter trip .Odds around 11-4 look very fair value in this small field .

Hidden Coin looks main danger if he can reproduce his turf form from last season ,though there has to be question mark about his fitness after six month break .

THURSDAY JANUARY 3RD CLAIMING STAKES BET:
HARDY RED 2.35 WOLVERHAMPTON
2PT @ 11-4 BET VICTOR
(UNPLACED SP 5-4 LOSS -£200 / 2.00PTS)

Update at 11.45 now four runner race with Be On The Bell now non runner bet will go down as 2PT win bet .

Quick Update on Wednesday January 2nd !!!

On Wednesday we have 1 mile claiming stakes at Wolverhampton ,the favourite Desert Vision goes particularly well in this grade having won two claimers over course & distance recently .Also finished good third last time in class two handicap at Wolverhampton .

This doesn't look the strongest claimer ,with question marks about most of the opposition and Desert Vision should be difficult to beat here ,though not betting race for me at around the 6-4 mark .

Hopefully we should be back in action later in the week ,though no bets on Wednesday .
