Saturday 10th August Sweet Solera Stakes Bet.

After six week break the blog returns, just hoping for change of luck sometime soon .June was another frustrating month with plenty second's and thirds ,though no winners again .Loss 4.13 points on the month. No bets in July and decided to sit out Glorious Goodwood last week, not one my favourite tracks to say the least .

After seven months the blog is 12.63 points down and this looks like being first losing year since blog started in February 2010 .After slow start to the year on the All Weather ,things haven't shown any improvement so far on the turf.On positive note the blog is still showing 64 points profit since starting in February 2010  .

Moving on to Saturday we have plenty racing ,with Ascot staging the Shergar Cup ,though this event has never really appealed to me .Not sure why the event is given so much coverage seems complete waste of time in my opinion.

Looking ahead to the other cards Newmarket & Haydock stage the main meetings and going concentrate on group three Sweet Solera Stakes for 2 year olds at Newmarket at 3.35

8 runners go to post for group three Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket over 7 furlongs on ground described as good/firm .This looks competitive race, with the three main contenders being Wedding Ring ,Ihtimal & Baby Bush .

WEDDING RING :Won 6 furlong maiden at Newmarket on debut beating Ihtimal by neck in June.Followed that with good fifth of 19 at Royal Ascot in G3 Albany Stakes behind Kiyoshi.Looks open to improvement after just two starts and this longer trip should suit .

IHTIMAL :Maiden after three starts, though has shown plenty of promise on all three starts .Finished good third in Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot last time behind Berkshire, after not getting the clearest of runs and doing best of the fillies in the race .

BABY BUSH :Good winner on debut in 6 furlong maiden at Newbury ,not easy assess the form that race ,though won in good style and that  looked well above average maiden .Should be suited by this longer trip and has to be respected.

VERDICT : Godolphin have won the last four running's of the the race and there pair Wedding Ring & Ihtimal look the two to concentrate on here .

IHTIMAL has ran well on all three starts and looked little unlucky last time in Chesham when not getting much luck in running .That looked strong race with winner Berkshire highly regarded.Should go well returning to this fillies race and odds around 4-1 look decent value .

  2. Thanks Jason, nice to come back with winner. The Chesham looked strong race this year.I thought Ihtimal was beaten by smart horse in Berkshire last time.

    Cheers
