2013 Results Review !!!

Good finish to the year with SHAWKANTAGO winning the 5 furlong claiming stakes at Southwell on Friday at 9-2 for £268.00 profit.

December has been quiet month with suitable betting opportunities on All Weather very thin on the ground ,though no complaints with small profit on the month with two winners from five bets for £155.00 profit .

Overall this has been the worse year since the blog started in February 2010 ,though having been £1373 down at the end of June. Its been good finish to the year finishing with small profit £674 .

The first 6 months of the year have to be described as awful with only one winner from 22 bets ,though since August there has been massive improvement with 16 winners from 35 bets. Not great year for blog ,though this has been the fourth consecutive winning year since blog started in February 2010.

The main reason for improvement has been concentrating on better quality races on the flat ,listed and group races have been particularly profitable since August .

In the past the claiming races have always been very profitable for the blog, though for some reason this season they never really fired with loss £179.00 .

In 2014 I will mainly be concentrating on Listed & group races ,though there will be few bets in claiming races,as these races have done well for the blog in the past .I will also be focusing more on International graded races ,starting with Meydan Carnival in January .

My other blog http://timefordouble.blogspot.co.uk/ never really got started last year due to time restraints ,though from January 2014 I will have lot more time and there will be regular blog posts .Hopefully the each-way doubles will show some decent profits in 2014 .

Friday 27th December Claiming Stakes Bet !!!

December has been very quiet month for blog with very few suitable betting opportunities on All Weather ,though we do have quite interesting five furlong claiming stakes at Southwell today.

8 runners go to post for 5 furlong claiming stakes on fibresand at Southwell .Not bad little contest for class 6 claimer .The three main contenders are Shawkantango ,Angelio Poliziano & Quality Art

SHAWKANTANGO : Course specialist at Southwell 5 wins from 12 starts ,not the most consistent performer though normally goes well at this course .Returned to form winning 5 furlong handicap at Wolverhampton earlier this month .Should go well returning to his favourite course .

ANGELEO POLIZIANO : Good record on All Weather at Wolverhampton winning five times , has put in two solid efforts here at Southwell over 6 furlongs recently, finishing good second last time in claimer .Will be suited returning to five furlongs .

QUALITY ART :Returned to form last time winning 5 furlong handicap over C&D at Southwell ,though looks inconsistent sort and doesn't have greatest strike rate .Also looks to have plenty to find with Shawkantago on Wolverhampton form ealier this month .

VERDICT : Angeleo Polizano will be popular here returning to minimum trip .All eight career victories have come over 5 furlongs ,and looks sure to go well in this claimer .However the negative is the inexperienced jockey Josephine Gordon who has only ridden one winner in two seasons.

At the prices course specialist SHAWKANTANGO looks the each-way value in the race. Can be forgiven for poor run last time at Lingfield .All his best form has been at Southwell and will be suited dropping into claiming company and can record his sixth win over course & distance .

SHAWKANTANGO 1.25 SOUTHWELL

Sunday 8th December Sha Tin Preview !!!

On early Sunday morning we have some top quality action from Hong Kong .Just quick preview of four big races from Sha Tin .(Vase)(Sprint)(Mile) (Cup)

Starting with Hong Kong Vase at 6.00 am .14 runners declared for vase over 12 furlongs on ground described as good/firm .Plenty British interest here with the four main contenders being Red Cadeaux ,Mount Athos ,The Fugue & Galileo Rock .

6.00  SHA TIN HONG KONG VASE 12 FURLONGS :
RED CADEAUX : Likeable seven year old gelding ,been campaigned in all top international races ,including winning this race last year and finishing third in 2011 .Also finished second in Dubai World Cup and Melbourne Cup .

MOUNT ATHOS : Won 8 races from 33 starts ,won group three Ormonde Stakes at Chester in May ,also finished creditable third in Melbourne Cup last month .Has bit to find with Red Cadeaux on that form .

THE FUGUE : High class four year old filly winning three group one races .Been in good form this season winning Yorkshire Oaks & Irish Champion Stakes .Finished close second in Breeders Cup turf last time at Santa Anita .

GALILEO ROCK :Consistent sort ,Ran some good races this season without winning ,finishing placed in Epsom Derby ,Irish Derby & St Leger .Looks open to improvement after six starts ,though doesn't have best draw in stall 13 .

VERDICT : The Fugue is 6LB clear on official ratings and will be difficult to beat if reproducing her recent group one form. However at best price 6-4 does look on short side ,though very much the one beat .

At the prices last year winner RED CADEAUX looks fair each-way value at around 8-1 .Has good record in these top international races and seems go well here at Sha Tin, having won this race in 2012 and finishing third in 2011 .
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hong Kong sprint over 6 furlongs at 6.40 am .14 runners declared for sprint .This race looks to concern the runners from far east .Lord Kanaloa ,Lucky Nine & Charles The Great

6.40 SHA TIN HONG KONG SPRINT 6 FURLONGS :
LORD KANALOA : High class sprinter from Japan winning 8 from 12 starts ,winning five grade one races ,including winning this race last year  in good style .Not drawn the best in stall 12 ,though rated one the worlds best sprinters .

LUCKY NINE :Won 9 races from 33 starts, winning five grade one races ,including winning this race in 2011 .Could only manage fifth in this race last year and had has plenty to find with Lord Kanaloa on that form .

CHARLES THE GREAT : Won 4 races from 10 starts ,winning grade two Jockey Club sprint  last time over course & distance .Will need improvement to win this much stronger grade one race .

VERDICT : LORD KANALOA stands out here having won six of last seven starts including winning this race by 2.5 Lenghs last year .Has the class to over come tricky draw in stall 12 .Odds around 7-4 look fair value .

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hong Kong Mile at 7.50 am .14 runners declared for mile .This looks cracking contest for the mile with the three main contenders Gold-Fun , Moonlight Cloud & Sky Lantern .

7.50 SHA TIN HONG KONG MILE :
GOLD FUN :Progressive four year gelding ,winning 5 from 9 starts, including winning last three starts at Sha Tin .Has good record over 1 mile winning 4 out 5 . Should go well with ideal conditions .

MOONLIGHT CLOUD : High class French mare ,winning 12 from 20 starts ,including winning 6 grade one races .Been in great form this season winning all four starts ,though her best form has been on good or softer ground .Will be difficult to beat if handling this quicker ground .

SKY LANTERN : Top Class three year old filly winning 6 from 12 starts, winning four grade one races this season over 1 mile ,including 1000 guineas ,Coronation Stakes and Sun Chariot .Obvious claims with ideal conditions here 1 mile on fast ground .

VERDICT : Moonlight Cloud has clearly the best form unbeaten this season and 7lb clear on official ratings .However all her best form has been on softer ground over 7 furlongs and was beaten on both starts over mile on fast ground .Looks worth taking on at short odds .

GOLD-FUN will need to improve to beat Moonlight Cloud ,though 1 mile at Sha Tin on fast ground are his optimum conditions and looks the value bet against the short price favourite at around 5-1.

Of the others Sky Lantern can't be dismissed ,though takes on the colts for first time and will need to produce career best effort to land this high quality grade one contest .

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The feature race at Sha Tin The Hong Kong Cup over 10 furlongs worth 1.7 million to the winner .12 runners declared for another cracking looking contest .The the three main contenders Cirrus Des Aigles , Military Attack & Endowing .

8.30 SHA TIN HONG KONG CUP 10 FURLONGS :
CIRRUS DES AIGLES : High class seven year old gelding ,winning 19 races from 54 starts .Including four grade one races .Won twice this season in grade two & grade three company in France .Also finished good second in champion stakes at Ascot in October .However all his best form has been on soft ground and was well beaten in this race in 2010 and 2011 .

MILITARY ATTACK : Former British trained gelding winning three times for John Hills in 2011 .Big improver this season since racing in Hong Kong ,winning five times ,including three grade one races .Impressive winner of Singapore International Cup at Kranji in May .Obvious claims with conditions to suit .

ENDOWING : Former British trained  gelding finishing second for Richard Hannon as two year old in 2011 .Been good form this season at Sha Tin winning two races and finishing second twice.Won grade two Jockey Club Cup last time at Sha Tin .Should go well with optimum conditions .

VERDICT : MILITARY ATTACK wasn't at his best last time ,though will take plenty of beating if he can reproduce his early season grade one winning form ,including winning Singapore International by 3.5 lenghs .Odds around 3-1 look decent value .

Of the others Endowing rates as main danger if reproducing his recent Sha Tin form ,which includes 1.75 defeat of Military Attack last time ,though has still to win in grade one company.  .

November Monthly Review !!!

Quiet finish to the month with no suitable betting opportunities on the All Weather last week .Overall November finished up decent month with four winners from 8 bets for profit £431.00

The month started really well with Pearl Of Africa winning 1 mile fillies listed stakes at Dundalk at 4-1 for profit £240.00 .

That was followed by an excellent Breeders Cup  with three winners from 4 bets .Dank (2-1) Wise Dan (11-10) Mucho Macho Man (9-2) for £491.00 profit .

The month finished bit disappointing with the last three bets finishing unplaced Eton Rifles (6-1) Hitchens (8-1) & Tullius (3-1) ,though overall quite happy with the bets in November and keeps the good run going since the blog returned in August .

After bad start to the year with losses of over £1373 in first six months ,the blog has returned to form over last four months, since concentrating on class one flat races with profits £1892 .

Though 2013 hasn't been the greatest year with small profit £519.00 ,this will hopefully be the fourth winning year in row for the blog, since starting  in February 2010, with total profits £8113 .

Moving onto December this looks like being quiet month with limited betting opportunities on All Weather .However I will be previewing the big meeting from Hong Kong at Sha Tin this Weekend which features plenty European interest with four grade one races (Sprint) (Vase) (Mile) and feature race the Hong Kong Cup over 10 furlongs.

Wednesday 20th November Stallions Hyde Listed Stakes

(Tullius can return to winning ways in the days feature race at Kempton)

Going back to Saturday disappointing result with HITCHENS finishing unplaced in 6 furlong listed race at Lingfield for £100.00 loss on the race.

No real excuses there as the race was run at very fast pace ,that should have suited Hitchens though he never really picked up in closing stages finishing sixth beaten just over three lenghs behind the the Jeremy Noseda trained Valbchek who won in course record time .

The last couple of bets have been slightly disappointing ,though saying that we are still nicely in profit for the month with £531 profit with 4 winners from 7 bets .Hopefully we can return to winning ways this week .

6.30 KEMPTON  1 MILE STALLIONS HYDE LISTED STAKES:
Moving onto Wednesday we have decent looking 1 mile listed race on poly track at Kempton .11 runners declared for Stallion Hyde listed stakes. The two that stand out on official handicap figures are :Graphic & Tullius .

GRAPHIC : Dual course winner at Kempton, with career record 6 wins from 21 starts .Big improver since August winning 4 out 5 handicaps ,including winning three class two handicaps .Impressive winner last time winning 1 mile handicap at Nottingham on soft ground beating Breton Rock by 4 lenghs off mark 102 .Steps up into listed company for first time, though with handicap rating of 110 ,looks well up to winning in this grade .

TULLIUS : Useful 5-Y-0 gelding winning 7 from 17 starts.Big improver in 2012 when joining Andrew Balding winning 4 out 5 ,including winning two listed races and group three Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury, only defeat came in group two summer mile at Ascot finishing 1 lengh third to Fanunalter .Returned last month after 14 month lay off ,though could only manage 10th of 13 in group three Darley Stakes at Newmarket .However bounced back to form last time finishing close third in very strong 1 mile listed race at Newmarket behind the useful mudlark Penitent .Has good record on poly track 2 out 3 ,looks to hold obvious claims .

VERDICT : Graphic has highest BHA rating of 110 and will be popular after winning  4 of last 5 starts ,though is stepping up in class and faces his stiffest task to date.Has to be respected ,though looks no great value at top price 7-4

TULLIUS has solid form in this grade ,after winning two listed races and group three last season .Looked back to his best last time at Newmarket when only beaten half lengh behind the useful mudlark Penitent .4-1 with BET365 quickly disappeared on Tuesday evening ,though 3-1 still represents fair value with Ladbrokes

Of the others Galician has each-way claims after finishing close second in fillies listed race at Lingfield last time , though will still need to improve to take this stronger looking  race .

TULLIUS 6.30 KEMPTON

3.10 LINGFIELD 6 FURLONG GOLDEN ROSE LISTED STAKES:
11 runners go to post for competitive looking 6 furlong listed race on poly track at Lingfield .The three main contenders : Hitchens, Ballista & Hawkeyethenoo .

HITCHENS : C&D winner at Lingfield won this race in 2010 .Been in fair form this season winning twice, including group three at Curragh & Listed race at Chester .Slightly disappointing on his last two starts in group company ,though will be suited returning to listed company .

BALLISTA : Inconsistent front runner ,though useful on his day, won this race last year beating Lady's First by 2 lenghs, making all .Won conditions race at Chester in May again making all to beat Masamah .Been disappointing on two of last three starts, though always dangerous when getting easy lead .

HAWKEYETHENOO : Returned to form last time finishing close second in hot handicap at Doncaster in October off mark 105 .Also finished creditable fourth in G1 sprint cup at Haydock in September ,though hasn't won since winning Stewards Cup in 2012 .

VERDICT :  HITCHENS should go well here returning to listed company. Also goes well on poly track, should get the race run to suit with three confirmed front runners in the race .Looks over priced at 8-1 with Stan James & William Hills

Of the other last years winner Barista has to be respected ,though is likely to get taken on for lead with both Tangerine Trees & Take Cover being confirmed front runners .

Hawkeyethenoo has some decent form on turf and can't be ruled out  ,though is unproven on poly track 0 from 3 and is on losing run 13 races .

Saturday 9th November Wentworth Listed Stakes Bet !!

On Final day flat season we have very competitive card at Doncaster with some very big fields . Going concentrate on 6 furlong listed race at 2.25 .

2.25 DONCASTER 6F WENTWORTH LISTED STAKES :
19 runners declared for very competitive 6 furlong listed race on soft ground .The three main contenders : Jack Dexter , Eton Rifles & Highland Colori .

JACK DEXTER : Improving 4 year old, winning 7 from 18 starts ,goes particularly well on soft ground .Won twice this season ,including 6 furlong G3  at Newcastle in June  .Produced career best effort last time finishing close second in G2 champions sprint at Ascot behind Slade Power .Obvious claims with this drop in class .

ETON RIFLES : Decent 8 year old sprinter winning 8 from 33 starts .Won this race last year in good style beating Ultrasonic.Made highly promising return to action last month just getting touched off by Steps in 5 furlong listed race at Ascot. Also has excellent record in listed company over 6 furlongs winning 4 out 6 and Soft ground conditions will suit .

HIGHLAND COLORI : Been in great form this season winning four times ,has career record 9 wins from 25 starts .Won Ayr Gold Cup in great style in September off mark 104 with Jack Dexter back in third .Seems to act on any ground and effective at 6 or 7 furlongs .

VERDICT : Last years winner ETON RIFLES looks to have plenty in his favour here after finishing close second in good 5 furlong Listed race at Ascot last time . The return to 6 furlongs will suit and will relish testing ground conditions .Odds around  6-1 look very fair value .

Highland Colori has been great form recently winning 3 from last 4 starts and rates as main danger with conditions to suit .

Jack Dexter takes big drop in class ,though faces no easy task trying concede 6LB and is far from certain to reverse Ayr Gold Cup form with Highland Colori on these terms .

2.55 MAISONS-LAFFETTE 6F PRIX DE SEINE GROUP THREE :
MYASUN : Decent 6-Y-0 sprinter, winning 10 from 28 starts, goes well here at Maison-Laffette ,including winning this race last year on heavy ground .Won group three contest over 6 furlongs at Deauville in August .Ran a lot better than finishing position suggest last time ,when finishing 8 of 20 in group one Prix D Le 'Abbaye over 5 furlongs ,finishing strongly after missing the break. The return to 6 furlongs on heavy ground will suit

CATCALL : Very consistent 4-Y-0 gelding, winning 3 from 10 starts .Won twice this season including in group three company at Longchamp in May .Produced career best effort last time when finishing close second in group one Prix D Le 'Abbaye behind Mareek .Should go well dropping back in class .

VERDICT : Last years winner MYASUN  makes plenty each-way appeal here returning to 6 furlongs on heavy ground .Has good record at track and can reverse form with Catcall over this longer trip .Odds 5-1 with Paddy Power look good each/way value .

Catcall  looks the obvious danger after finishing second in Prix D Le 'Abbaye last time ,though odds of 11-8 look poor value, and his best form has been over five furlongs  .

On Saturday we had four bets in Breeders Cup at Santa Anita .Dank looked very solid bet @ 2-1 in Filly & Mare for Sir Michael Stoute & Ryan Moore .Dank had to dig deep in closing stages ,though battled well to win by half lengh for £200 profit .

The next bet was in Breeders Cup turf on Point Of Entry each-way @ 5-1 ,though could only manage fourth behind A P O 'Brien trained Magician . Loss of £100.00

Wise Dan at @ 11-10 in Breeders Cup turf mile looked very strong bet having won much stronger race last year, after stumbling at start had plenty on at halfway , though came with strong run in straight and won quite cosily in the end for £110 profit.

The feature race the Breeders Cup classic looked quite competitive race .Mucho Macho Man looked to have good each-way chance @ 9-2 ,after finishing close second in race  last year.In thrilling finish Mucho Macho Man ,just held on by nose and head from Will Take Charge & Declaration Of War for tidy £281.00 profit on the race .

Its been good start to November with £731 profit .Hopefully we can continue the good run next week, on the final week of  flat turf season .

7.43 SANTA ANITA 10F BREEDERS CUP FILLY & MARE TURF:
10 runners declared for Filly & Mare turf over 10 furlongs on firm ground .The three main contenders : Dank , Tiz Flirtatious & Marketing Mix .

DANK : Progressive filly for Sir Michael Stoute ,winning 3 out 4 this season ,including winning group two Kilboy Estate stakes at Curragh in July  .Followed that with impressive performance in grade one Beverly D Stakes at Arlington beating Gifted Girl by over 4 lenghs . MARKETING MIX :Won 9 from 18 starts. Finished good second in this race last year behind Zagora .Won twice this season, including grade one Gamely Stakes at Hollywood Park .Looks closely matched with old rival Tiz Flirtatious .

VERDICT : DANK stands out here after winning grade one Beverly D Stakes last time in impressive style, with Marketing Mix well held in fourth .The fast ground will suit and should be difficult to beat .Looks solid bet at around 2-1 .

Tiz Flirtatious looks main danger, has good record here at Santa Anita 4 out 6  and looks to have each/way claims at around 7-1 .
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10.22 SANTA ANITA 12 FURLONG BREEDERS CUP TURF:
12 runners declared for Breeders Cup turf over 12 furlongs .The three main contenders : The Fugue ,Point Of Entry & Magician

THE FUGUE : High class 4 year old filly ,winning 5  from 12 starts ,including three group one races .Been better than ever this season winning last two starts ,including the Irish Champion Stakes at Curragh in September.Should go well with conditions to suit

POINT OF ENTRY : Five time grade one winner in America, winning 7 from 9 starts .Finished unlucky second in this race last year behind Little Mike, when not getting very clear run in the race .Been in good form this season winning both starts at Belmont & Gulfstream .

MAGICIAN :Won 3 from 7 starts ,including the Irish 2000 guineas back in May .Big disappointment when finishing last of 9 in St James Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in June .Will need to bounce back ,though is still lightly raced and could improve over this longer trip .

VERDICT: The Fugue will be popular here after beating the colts in Irish Champion stakes at Curragh last time and has ground conditions in her favour .However she was beaten in filly & Mare turf last year after getting no luck in running, though this looks stronger race .Has to respected ,though odds around 9-4 look poor value .

POINT OF ENTRY has done little wrong winning five grade one races and finished good second in this race last year .Has some useful form this season ,including beating Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom in February .Odds around 9-2 look good each/way value .

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

11.40 SANTA ANITA BREEDERS CUP MILE :
10 runners declared for Breeders Cup turf mile .The three main contenders: Wise Dan ,Silver Max & Olympic Glory .

WISE DAN :Highest rated horse in North America ,winning 17 from 24 starts ,including winning 7 grade one races .Has fantastic record on turf winning 10 from 11 starts .Impressive winner of this race last year beating Animal Kingdom

OLYMPIC GLORY : Decent three year old colt for Richard Hannon ,winning 6 from 10 starts .Impressive winner of group one Queen Elizabeth stakes at Ascot by 5 lenghs last time on heavy ground .

VERDICT :Last years winner WISE DAN will take plenty beating here after winning much stronger race last year .Has fantastic record on turf winning his last 9 starts .11-10 looks good value bet.

Of the others Olympic Glory best form is on heavy ground and this tight track on firm ground looks big concern .

Silver Max is improving with each start and should be in frame, though has plenty to find with Wise Dan on turf form .
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

12.35 SANTA ANITA 10 FURLONGS BREEDERS CUP CLASSIC
12 runners declared for feature race the Breeders Cup classic .Three main contenders : Mucho Macho Man ,Fort Larned & Game On Dude .

MUCHO MACHO MAN : Won 6 of 19 starts ,finished close second in this race last year behind Fort Larned . Returned to form last time winning grade one Awesome Again Stakes over 9 furlongs at Santa Anita .Should go well for Gary Stevens.

FORT LARNED : Game winner of this race last year ,making all running beating Mucho Macho Man in close finish .Won twice this season at Churchill Downs, including the grade one Stephen Foster handicap by 6 lenghs .Should make bold bid from the front .

GAME ON DUDE : Disappointing favourite in this race last year only finishing seventh behind Fort Larned ,hardly put foot wrong since winning his last six starts .Won seven grade one races and also has good record at Santa Anita with 7 wins .

VERDICT : MUCHO MACHO MAN has been lightly raced this season ,though returned to his best form last time at Santa Anita .Should get the race run to suit here and can reverse last years form with Fort Larned .Odds around 4-1 look very fair value

Last years winner Fort Larned has to be respected if getting on the lead ,though is likely to be taken on by Game on Dude in early stages and both could be vulnerable in the closing stages .

VERDICT : Lily's Angel will be very popular here, after finishing second in group one Matron Stakes last time and is unbeaten on all weather surfaces 4 out 4 ,including winning this race last year .However has 5lb penalty and is only 1lb clear on official figures and doesn't look great value at even money .

PEARL OF AFRICA reunited with Johnny Murtagh looks the solid each/way bet against the short price favourite .The return to 1 mile will suit, having won three times over distance ,including over C&D here at Dundalk .Odds around 4-1 look very fair each/way value .

Good finish to the month with Tac De Boistron winning the Group one Prix Royal - Oak at Longchamp in great style .After few disappointing results recently for the blog,it's good to finish the month with nice 9-2 winner for £412 profit on the race .

October Still goes down as small losing month for the blog (-£70.00) loss. Two winners from 8 bets ,though overall the results have improved big time over last three months, since concentrating on better quality races. With 10 winners from 22 bets and profit £1461 since start of August .

The next blog update will be on Friday 1st November. I will be previewing the Breeders Cup from Santa Anita plus Newmarket's final meeting of the season .

Sunday 27th October Prix Royal Oak Bet !!!

Disappointing result yesterday with Stuccodor finishing fourth in 10 furlong Trigo listed stakes at Leopardstown behind easy winner Euphrasia .

Succodor was very well supported in market 7-2 into 2-1 ,though had every chance in the race, just never picked up in straight finishing well beaten fourth for £200.00 loss .

After two decent months in August & September .October has been disappointing month with only one winner from 7 bets with losses of £482.00 .Saying that October is never the easiest month with ground conditions changing all the time and flat season coming too end .

Nevermind moving onto Sunday we have some decent action at Longchamp in France with the highlight being group one Royal Oak over 1 mile 7 furlongs .

15 runners declared for group one Prix Royal Oak on ground described as very soft .This looks quite competitive for group one contest, with the three main contenders Altano ,Tac De Boistron & Ebiyza .

2.40 LONGCHAMP 1 MILE 7F PRIX ROYAL OAK GROUP ONE :
ALTANO : Useful German stayer winning 12 from 28 starts ,finished fifth in Ascot Gold Cup & Third in Goodwood Cup earlier in season . Returned to winning ways last time winning group one Prix Du Cadron over 2 miles 4 furlongs .Well suited by testing conditions .

TAC DE BOISTRON : Returned form in September winning 12 furlong Listed race at Chester by impressive 8 lenghs beating Cubanita(winner since) .Also Finished good second last time behind Altano in Prix Du Cadron ,getting outstayed in closing stakes .Lightly raced this season only had three starts .

EBIYZA : Lightly raced three year old filly, finished second in group two Prix Du Royallieu at Longchamp last time, though was awarded the race after getting bump in closing stages .Looks open to improvement over this longer trip .

VERDICT : TAC DE BOISTRON looks to have ideal conditions here and can reverse form with German raider Altano over this shorter trip .All six career victories have come on soft or heavy ground and 2 miles seems his best trip .Odds 9-2 with William Hill look very fair value.

Altano has to be respected after winning Prix Du Cadron last time ,though seems better suited by further than 2 miles .

On Saturday we have plenty top quality action in Uk & Ireland ,with the highlight being the group one Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster .

This years race looks very competitive with  11 runners declared .Kingston Mill looks to have best form after winning group three Autumn Stakes at Newmarket ,though there looks too many unknowns in the race to have any serious bet .

For the days main bet we go over to Leopardstown for interesting 10 furlong Listed race at 3.45

3.45 LEOPARDSTOWN 10 FURLONG TRIGO  LISTED STAKES :
10 runners declared for 10 furlong listed race on soft/heavy ground .On official handicap ratings this looks competitive listed race the three main contenders look to be Stuccodor ,Tarana & Uleavemebreathless .

Finished respectable fifth of 10 in 1 mile group three at Curragh last  time .Will be suited returning to this longer trip on soft ground .

TARANA : Lightly raced 3-Y-0 filly, won her only start as two year old last season in 1 mile maiden at Curragh in September .Looks open to plenty improvement over this longer trip ,though has long absence to overcome and unproven on soft ground .

ULEAVEMEBREATHLESS: Consistent filly ,though only win came in 7 furlong maiden Roscommon last season .Finished good second in 9 furlong group three at Gowan Park last month behind useful Mango Diva .Also ran fair third last week in listed race at Naas behind Wannabe Better .Should be thereabouts with ground conditions to suit .

VERDICT : STUCCODOR with ground conditions in his favour, can get back to winning ways, the return to 10 furlongs will also suit .Has good record at Leopardstown unbeaten in two starts . Trainer Dermot Weld  has excellent record in race winning the race for the last three years .Odds  7-2 with BET365 look good value .

Of the others Uleavemebreathless should be thereabouts after two creditable efforts recently in listed and group company .

Sunday 20th October Listed Stakes Bet !!!

Not great day yesterday for blog at Ascot, with both selections under performing. In particular Mareek in British Champions Sprint, running very poorly after playing up in stalls and then completely missing the break, that more or less put paid to his chance in the race.

The second bet on Talent in British Champions fillies & mares had every chance ,though had to settle for third behind impressive winner Seal of Approval .Overall disappointing day with £256 loss .

Moving quickly on to Sunday we have decent looking 1 mile listed race at Naas for fillies and mares on ground described as yielding/soft .

3.15 NAAS 1 MILE FILLIES & MARES GARNET LISTED STAKES :
13 runners declared for 1 mile fillies & mares listed race .This looks competitive race with plenty possible chances, the three main contenders  Pearl Of Africa ,Rasmeyaa & Spinacre

PEARL OF AFRICA : Improving filly landing hatrick in July .Creditable efforts on her last two starts in group company ,finishing good third behind Say in group three at Curragh in September .Also finished good fourth last time behind the useful Belle De Crecy in group two Blandford stakes.Should go well with this drop in class.

RASMEYAA : Lightly raced filly ,Impressive winner of maiden at Leopardstown last October .Well supported for 1000 guineas at Newmarket in May ,though finished disappointing 14th .Returned to form last time finishing good third behind Fiesolana in group three contest over 7 furlongs .Looks open to improvement over this longer trip .

SPINACRE :Decent two year old for Kevin Prendergast last season winning two races, including listed race at Curragh .Hasn't shown much this season though has been highly tried in group company .Has first start for Roger Varian today and takes drop in class ,though will need bounce back after some disappointing efforts recently .

VERDICT : Rasmeyaa looks open to plenty improvement after just four starts, and has to be respected after finishing good third  in group company last time .However odds around 5-2 look very short in competitive race .

PEARL OF AFRICA  reunited with Johnny Murtagh, looks solid here after putting two creditable efforts in group company .Will be suited by this drop in class and returning to 1 mile. Odds around 9-2 look fair value .

Of the others both Jack Dexter & Slade Power are decent sorts with each-way claims ,though will both need produce career best efforts to land this group two contest .

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BRITISH CHAMPIONS FILLIES & MARES 12 FURLONGS GROUP 1 :
9 runners declared for 12 furlong fillies & mares G1 championship .On official figures this looks another competitive race with the two main contenders being Dalkala & Talent

DALKALA :Decent French filly winning 6 from 12 starts .Won 10 furlong G2 Middleton Stakes at York in May .Returned to winning ways last time winning G1 Prix De L ' Opera over 10 furlongs on soft ground .Should go well with conditions to suit .

THE LARK : Finished fair third in Epsom Oaks behind Talent in June.Returned to form last time winning Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster over 14 furlongs in good style,Will also be suited by soft Ground conditions .

VERDICT : TALENT looks to have plenty in her favour here after running excellent second in St Leger last time against the colts.Seems well suited to soft surface and won't have any problems returning to 12 furlongs .Odds around 7-2 look very fair.

Of the others The Lark could go well at decent odds ,has bit to find with Talent ,though was good winner of Park Hill Stakes last time and  ground conditions will suit .

Sunday 13th October Waterford Testimonial Listed Stakes Bet

Enjoyable day at Newmarket yesterday ,though very difficult to find the winners with some big turn ups .The main bet of the day on Lockwood was very disappointing  in group two Dubai Challenge Stakes.

Having played up at the start Lockwood never ran his race finishing last of 9 for £100 loss on the race .Nevermind moving on to Sunday we have decent looking card from the Curragh which includes three Listed races .Going concentrate on 6 furlong Waterford Testimonial listed race at 2.55

11 runners go to post for good looking listed race over 6 furlongs on ground described as good. The two main contenders being Balmont Mast & Cristoforo Colombo .

2.55 CURRAGH 6F WATERFORD TESTIMONIAL LISTED STAKES :

BALMONT MAST : Useful sprinter on his day .Showed some decent form earlier in the season at Meydan only getting beat neck in G1 Dubai Golden Shaheen. Also finished decent fifth of 15 behind Russian Soul last time at Curragh only beaten 1 lengh .Will be suited by this drop in class .

CRISTOFORO COLOMBO : Decent 2 year old last season finishing third in Coventry stakes behind Dawn Approach and fourth in Middle Park at Newmarket behind Reckless Abandon .though very lightly raced this season after finishing fifth in 2000 guineas in May .Returned to some kind form last time winning weak looking conditions race at Dundalk over 6 furlongs .

VERDICT : BALMONT MAST dropping back into listed company looks the one to beat here after running some decent races in G1 company earlier in the season .Ran creditable fifth last time over C&D after 4 month break .Goes well this time year with all four career victories coming in October .Odds around 3-1 look very fair value .

Cristoforo Colombo looks the obvious danger if he can reproduce his two year old form ,though did finish behind Balmont Mast over this C&D in September .

Saturday 12th October Future Champions Day Bet

On Saturday we have an early start. I will be making the 70 mile trip form Lowestoft too Newmarket for Future champions day .The weather forecast doesn't look great, though hopefully it wont be too bad when the racing gets under way at 2.05 .

Newmarket stage a cracking seven race card with 6 group races plus the Betfred Cesarewitch Handicap on Rowley mile course .

Going concentrate on the first race on the card the 7 furlong group two Dubai Challenge Stakes for my main bet of the day .

10 runners declared for 7 furlong group two contest ,with plenty rain forecast ground is likely to be on the soft side . This looks quite competitive  race with the four main contenders being .Darwin ,Lockwood, Amarillo & Fiesolana

DARWIN :Progressive 3-Y-0, winning three from five starts ,including beating Gordon Lord Byron in 7 furlong group three contest in July on fast ground .Slightly disappointing last time when beaten odds on favourite in 1 mile G3 contest at Curragh .

LOCKWOOD :In good form winning two of last three starts ,including winning G3 Supreme stakes at Goodwood in August .Also finished good second last time in G2 Park Stakes at Doncaster.Goes well on soft ground and will suited by any more rain .

FIESOLANA :Improving Irish filly ,Already won four times this season ,including two G3 races .Finished fair fifth last time in G1 Matron stakes at Curragh over 1 mile .Seems to handle any ground and should go well dropping into G2 company .

VERDICT : Darwin looked good when beating Gordon Lord Byron at Curragh in July ,though may been flattered by that result ,and was disappointing last time when beaten odds on favourite .Soft ground conditions would also be concern .

LOCKWOOD has been in top form recently and looks to have ideal conditions here 7 furlongs on easy ground .Finished good second last time behind the useful filly Irish Filly Viztoria in group 2  at Doncaster .Odds around 9-2 looks decent each-way value .

Of the others Fiesolana has to be respected after showing some decent form in top fillies races this season and German raider Amarillo could also go well if reproducing his early season form ,which includes finishing second to Moonlight Cloud .

Sunday 6TH October Prix Da La Foret Bet

Disappointing result on Friday with Dark Crusader running an absolute stinker in 1 mile 6F listed race at Ascot .After being heavily supported in market going off the 5-4 fav from recommended 7-2 (25P IN £ RULE 4)

Dark Crusader seemed to have ideal conditions, however after pulling hard in messy race she was soon beaten finishing very disappointing last of 6 for £100 loss on the race .

No bets on Saturday as the racing looked very tough at Ascot & Newmarket .

Moving on to Sunday we have some top quality racing in Paris with the highlight being Europe's premier race the Prix De L ' Arc De Triomphe .The Japanese trained Oferve looks the one to beat after getting mugged in the race last year ,though odds around 9-4 don't rate great value in such competitive  race .Treve & Intello should also both run well at fair odds .

Looking at the other races on the card the G1 Prix  Da La Foret at 4.40 looks the most interesting race on the card.

4.40 LONGCHAMP 7 FURLONG PRIX DA LA FORET GROUP ONE :
11 runners declared for G1 Prix Da La Foret over 7 furlongs on ground described as soft .This looks cracking race with two main contenders Gordon Lord Byron & Moonlight Cloud .

GORDON LORD BYRON :Won this race last year in good style on heavy ground .Also impressive winner of G1 Haydock sprint cup last time beating Slade Power by 3 lenghs .Well suited to soft ground and should go well for Johnny Murtagh .

MOONLIGHT CLOUD :Unbeaten this season winning all three starts ,including beating Gordon Lord Byron in G1 Prix Maurice De Gheest in August by 2.5 lenghs .Won the 1 mile G1 Jacques Le Marois last time at Deauville beating Olympic Glory by short head .Obvious claims with conditions to suit .

VERDICT : Moonlight Cloud is going be very popular here after beating the best colts in 1 mile Jacques Le Marois last time at Deauville ,though looks very short in market and there looks no value at around 8-11 mark

Last years winner GORDON LORD BYRON has to reverse form with Moonlight Cloud ,though wasn't at his best that day, however looked right back to his best last time when impressive winner G1 Haydock sprint cup .Has ideal conditions today 7 furlongs on soft ground .At odds of 7-2 looks rock solid each-way bet against the short price favourite ,especially with the bookmakers going 1/4 odds 1-2-3 .

Of the others Viztoria looks an improving filly and was impressive winner of  G2 OBLG Park Stakes at Doncaster last time, and has very good record on softish ground ,though will need to show lot more improvement to take this group 1 contest .

Friday 4th October Listed Stakes Bet !!!

September finished up very decent month for blog with £901 / 9.01 pt profit with four winners from seven bets . (9-2) (4-1) (11-4) (5-2) for + 90% return on investment profit on the month.

After terrible start  to the year £1373 /13.73 loss for first six months ,the blog has really bounced back to form over last two months with 8 winners from 14 bets and profits £1531/15.31 for August and September .

With the blog now showing very small profit for the year of £158/1.58 pts. Hopefully we can have good final three months of the year and make this the fourth winning year in row since the blog started in Feb 2010 .

I think the changes made at the start of August have made big difference.Which has been concentrating on quality races (listed and upwards) .The results have shown big improvement .

Moving on to Friday we have couple decent looking races at Ascot 1 mile 6 furlong listed Stakes & over in Ireland,Dundalk stage good quality group three race over 1 mile 3 furlongs on there evening card.

Going concentrate on Ascot's feature race at 3.40 on ground described as good/soft .

3.40 ASCOT 1 MILE 6F UNDERWRITING  NOEL MURLESS LISTED STAKES:
8 runners declared for 14 furlong Listed race at Ascot .On paper this looks competitive listed race with the three main contenders look to be Dabadiyan .Greatwood & Dark Crusader .

DABADIYAN : Landed hatrick earlier this summer ,including winning decent looking 12 furlong handicap at Curragh of mark 92 . Finished fair second last time behind the useful Afonso De Sousa in conditions race at Dundalk .

GREATWOOD :Consistent sort ,though only win came in maiden at Kempton last season .No show in group two company at York & Ascot ,though returned to form last time finishing second in 12 furlong class 2 handicap at Doncaster off mark 102 .

DARK CRUSADER : Fast improving filly since stepping up in trip ,landing hatrick last time at York winning the 14 furlong Melrose handicap in good style off mark 90 .Looking well suited by soft ground conditions.

VERDICT : Dabadiyan has highest BHA rating 107 and to be respected after winning three times this summer ,though is unproven over this trip and has yet race on softish ground .

DARK CRUSADER is stepping up in class ,though looks fast improving filly since stepping up in trip and will be suited by soft ground conditions .Trainer Tony Martin has done well with his few Flat runners in UK this season  2 out 3 .Odds around 7-2 look good value .

Of the others Greatwood should be thereabouts after finishing good second last time at Doncaster ,though has only won maiden at Kempton and is unproven over this longer trip .

Friday 27Th September Shadwell Fillies Mile Bet

Good start to Cambridgeshire meeting with Caucus winning the Rose Bowl for second year running ,landing nice gamble 3-1 into 15-8 for tidy £330 profit on the day .

Though 3-1 was available this morning with Hills, no complaints with widely available 11-4 on Wednesday evening .

Moving on to Friday we have no less than five pattern races at Newmarket ,though going concentrate on the day's feature race the group one Shadwell Fillies mile at 3.15 .

3.15 NEWMARKET 1 MILE  SHADWELL FILLIES STAKES G1

8 runners declared for Shadwell Fillies Mile on ground described as good /good firm places. This looks to concern the big two  Rizeena & Ihtimal

RIZEENA : Useful filly winning 4 from 7 starts , including winning group 2 Queen Mary over 5 furlongs at Royal Ascot .Returned to winning ways last time winning group one Moyglare Stud Stakes over 7 furlongs at Curragh .

IHTIMAL : Big improver since stepping up in trip ,finishing third behind Berkshire in Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot .Followed that by winning both the group three Sweet Solera stakes at Newmarket & group two May hill stakes at Doncaster .

VERDICT : Rizeena has obvious claims after winning the 7 furlong group one Moyglare Stud stakes at Curragh last time ,though has plenty of speed having won over five furlongs three times and has to prove she stay this longer trip .

IHTIMAL is already group two winner over this trip and seemed very well suited to the mile distance when staying on strongly to win May Hill stakes at Doncaster last time. Godolphin have excellent record in the race and can win this for fourth year running. Odds around 5-2 look good value in race that lacks strength in depth .

Of the others Sound Reflection is dark horse unbeaten in two starts and looks open to plenty improvement ,though takes massive step up in class here.

Thursday 26th September Jockey club rose bowl listed stakes bet

Thursday see's the start of Newmarket's 3 day Cambridgeshire meeting .Going concentrate on the 2 mile Jockey Club Rose Bowl listed stakes at 4.15 .

10 runners declared for decent looking 2 mile listed race at Newmarket on good ground .On official handicap figures .Caucus & Repeater look the two main contenders .

4.15 NEWMARKET 2 MILES JOCKEY CLUB ROSE BOWL LISTED STAKES:
CAUCUS : Useful stayer in this grade, impressive winner of this race last year beating Cavalaryman by 2.5 lenghs .Won 2 mile listed race at Sandown in July beating Biographer .Been bit disappointing on last two starts in group two company ,though will be suited returning to listed company.

REPEATER : Had some decent form for Sir Mark Prescott in 2011/12 ,returned to form last time finishing good third in group two Doncaster Cup behind Times Up on first start for David O'Meara  .Will be suited with this drop in class.

VERDICT : Last years winner CAUCUS has rock solid form in this grade, winning his last two starts in listed company over 2 miles & finished well in front of main rival Repeater at Sandown in July .Odds around 11-4 look very fair value .

Reapeater looks the obvious danger on his form in Doncaster Cup ,though isn't the most reliable sort and  hasn't won for 2 years .

Of the others Statutory could go well at decent odds ,after winning  2 mile handicap at Chester by 9 lenghs last month and will be suited returning to this longer trip .

Friday 20th September Dubai Duty Free Cup Listed stakes

Disappointing result on Wednesday with Hippy Hippy Shake ,running a stinker in 10 furlong John Musker trophy listed race at Yarmouth finishing last of 11 for £100.00 loss.

Not sure why Hippy Hippy Shake ran such poor race as seem to have ideal conditions, though most disappointing effort all the same.

Moving onto Friday Newbury stage decent looking card with there feature race being 7 furlong Dubai Duty Free cup listed race at 4.50 .

4.50 NEWBURY 7F DUBAI DUTY FREE CUP LISTED RACE :
9 runners declared for 7 furlong listed race on soft ground . Three main contenders look to be Firebeam , Magic City & Tawhid .

FIREBEAM : Finished second in conditions race at Haydock last time ,though has been disappointing this season .However should be suited by this softer ground and had some decent form last season in group company .

MAGIC CITY : Won four out last five starts in handicap company .Good winner of class 2 handicap at Goodwood last time off mark 97 . Takes step up in class and has to prove he can handle soft ground conditions .

TAWHID : Consistent sort, impressive winner of group three Horris Hill over C&D at Newbury last season on heavy ground , been running consistently this season without winning ,finishing placed in group two & three company .Will be suited by ground conditions and  dropping into listed company .

VERDICT : TAWHID is strong fancy here dropping into listed company, with ground conditions in his favour , having won the Horris Hill stakes over C&D here last October on heavy ground . Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor also has excellent record in the race .Odds around 5-2 look very fair value .

Magic City has to be respected having landed the hatrick last time , though has poor record on ground softer than good 1 out 6 and will need career best effort to win in listed company .

Of the others Firebeam had some useful form for William Haggas back in 2011 and has each/way claims with ground conditions likely to suit .

Wednesday 18TH September John Musker listed stakes bet .

On Wednesday my local track Yarmouth stage there feature race of the season. The John Musker listed stakes for fillies & mares over 10 furlong,s and the race looks worth having small interest .

11 runners declared for John Musker trophy at Yarmouth on ground described as good/ soft .This years race looks decent contest with the three main contenders being Hippy Hippy Shake ,Rippons & Shuruq .

3.10 YARMOUTH 1MILE 2F JOHN MUSKER LISTED STAKES :
HIPPY HIPPY SHAKE : Good winner of 10 furlong listed race at York in July.Followed that with another good effort last time finishing second in 10 furlong listed race at Salisbury behind Mango Diva .No problems with ground conditions .

RIPPONS : Progressive filly winning all four starts .Won 9 furlong handicap at Goodwood last time off mark 86.Will need more improvement to win in listed company, though can't be ruled out over this longer trip .

SHURUQ : Group three winner at Meydan in UAE Oaks in February on tepeta surface, returned to form last time finishing third in group three over 1 mile at Sandown .Unproven on easy ground ,though the return to 10 furlongs will suit .

VERDICT :  The unbeaten Rippons will be popular here and looks open to more improvement, however this is big step up in class and odds around 15-8 look far too short .

HIPPY HIPPY SHAKE has to concede weight all round ,though has solid winning form in listed company and will be suited by ground conditions .Also goes well for Keiren Fallon who won twice on horse last season .Odds around 4-1 look good value .

Of the others Shuruq has highest handicap rating 109 and should also go well having won in higher grade ,though has yet to win on turf and is unproven on ground conditions.

10 runners declared for the 7 furlong sceptre stakes at Doncaster for fillies & mares .This looks decent contest with the three main contenders being Annecdote ,Maureen & Winning Express .

ANNECDOTE :Progressive filly, winning three of last four starts ,won 1 mile Sandringham Listed race at Royal Ascot in June .Followed that with career best effort winning the 7 furlong group 3 Oak Tree stakes at Glorious Goodwood .

MAUREEN :Won 7 furlong group three Fred Darling at Newbury in April .Far from disgraced in group one company on her last four starts ,including finishing 6TH in 1000 guineas .Also finished fair 4TH in Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot .Will be suited by this drop in class and soft ground conditions .

WINNING EXPRESS : Consistent filly ,won three times from 7 starts .Finished excellent fourth in 1000 guineas at Newmarket in May finishing just ahead of Maureen .Closely matched with Annecdote on Oaktree Stakes running . Should go well if handling softer ground conditions.

VERDICT : Not much to choose between the three main contenders on official ratings .However with ground conditions in her favour MAUREEN looks the one to beat here .Having been contesting all top group one fillies races this season .Will be suited by the drop in class and is unbeaten in group three company  .Odds around 3-1 look decent value .

Winning Express & Annecdote have to be respected , though both have prove they are as effective on this softer ground .

Wednesday 11th September Listed Stakes Bet

Day one of St Leger festival at Doncaster, with the feature race the Crown Hotel Scarbrough Stakes over five furlongs .

11 runners declared for five furlong listed race on ground described as good.On official handicap figures this looks competitive listed race .The three main contenders look to be Justineo & Masamah & Medicean Man

JUSTINEO : Fair sprinter on his day, returned to form winning  five furlong conditions race at Newmarket in July .Followed that with career best effort finishing excellent 3rd in group 2 King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last time.Should go well returning to listed company .

MASAMAH : Useful sprinter for Kevin Ryan back in 2010/11 winning group two at Goodwood ,though not as good last season for Marco Botti .Bounced back to form winning competitive handicap at Ascot in July off mark 100 .Also finished fair 4th last time in listed race at Beverley from poor draw .Has to be respected with Ryan Moore looking interesting Jockey booking .

MEDICEAN MAN :Inconsistent sprinter ,though useful type on his day .Has won twice this season including in listed company at Haydock in June ,not shown much recently though the drop back to listed company will suit.

VERDICT : JUSTINEO looks solid here after putting in career best effort at Goodwood last time in group two and had three of today's rivals behind (Masamah 8th) , Medicean Man 9th) Borderlescott 11th) .

Will be suited returning to listed company and is reunited with William Buick who won on the horse at Newmarket .Also the Roger Varian stable are in red hot form 6 out 8 so far in September .

Masamah finished  fourth in listed race at Beverley last time and has each-way claims ,though has plenty to find with Justineo on Glorious Goodwood running .

Medicean Man should get the race run to suit with plenty front runners in the race ,though is never easy to predict and faces no easy task under 3lb penalty .

Of the others C&D winner Magical Macey looks to be improving and could go well especially if there's any more rain.Having won on good/soft or softer five times .

Saturday 7th September Sprint Cup Bet

On Saturday we have some top quality action from Haydock ,Kempton & Leopardstown .Which includes nine pattern races ,with three group one races .

The feature race at Haydock the group one Betfred Sprint Cup looks interesting race with testing ground conditions going have big effect on the race .The three main contenders look to be .Legal Force , Gordon Lord Byron & Slade Power .

3.50 HAYDOCK 6F GROUP ONE BETFRED SPRINT CUP
LEGAL FORCE : High class 6/7 Furlong colt , won back to back group one's this season the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot & July Cup at Newmarket on fast ground .However all his best form has been on fast ground.Soft ground looks is big concern .

GORDON LORD BYRON :Useful soft ground performer ,won group one Prix De La Foret at Longchamp last October on heavy ground .Also finished good second in this race last year on fast ground .Should go well with ground conditions in his favour .

SLADE POWER : Improving sort ,won twice at Curragh this season in group three company .Also finished good third behind Legal Force in July Cup at Newmarket .Will need bounce back after disappointing run in group one Nunthorpe at York last time, though will be suited by ground conditions .

VERDICT : With ground conditions in his favour GORDON LORD BYRON should go well here.Ran excellent second in this race last year ,on ground that wouldn't have been ideal .Having won twice on heavy ground any more rain will suit.Odds around 9-2 look decent value .

Of the others Garswood has been well supported in recent days and will be suited by ground conditions ,though all his best form has been over 7 furlongs and will need more improvement to win in group one company .

Slade Power has each-way claims on his third in July Cup, with ground conditions likely to suit and could go well at decent odds.

Legal Force has form with cut in the ground ,though all his group form has been on fast ground and looks worth taking on at around 3-1 .

Saturday 31st August Group 3 Atalanta Stakes Bet

Good result on Bank Holiday Monday with Extraterrestrial @ 11-4 winning 1 mile claiming stakes at Newcastle for £165.00 profit .In very tight finish Extraterrestrial just got the verdict by short head from King Pin .No other bets so far this week, with the racing being of very low standard .

On Saturday we have fair looking card from Sandown ,with the two feature races being group three Sweet Solario stakes for two year olds over 7 furlongs & group three Atalanta Stakes over 1 mile for fillies & Mares .

Going concentrate on the days feature race 1 mile Atalanta Stakes on ground described as Good/ Good /Firm places

3.15 SANDOWN 1 MILE FILLIES AND MARES GROUP THREE:
10 runners go to post for decent looking group three contest for fillies and mares ,with the withdrawal of Chigun overnight .This race now looks match between Zibelina & Integral

ZIBELINA : Progressive filly ,unbeaten after three starts .Won the Woodcote stud listed stakes at Ascot last month in good style .Followed that winning group three contest at Deauville last time ,beating fair French horse in Table Ronde .Looks open to plenty more improvement .

INTEGRAL : Won first two starts ,including listed race over C&D at Sandown quickening up in impressive style from well off pace .Took big step up in class last time when finishing 7th of 14 in group one Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood ,though never got clear run at any stage in very messy race .Obvious claims now dropping back into group three company.

VERDICT : Integral is going be popular here dropping back into group three company after looking unlucky last time in Nassau at Goodwood. However her win over C&D in listed race back in July ,hasn't really worked out with second ,third & fourth from that race all being soundly beaten since .Still has to be respected with Sir Michael Stoute having such good record in the race ,though odds around 6-4 look too short .

The unbeaten ZIBELINA has solid form in group three company and still looks open to plenty improvement .She can get the better of her main rival Integral in race that looks to concern just the two .At  double the odds of her main rival ,she looks good value bet here at 3-1 .

Bank Holiday Monday Claiming Stakes Bet

Disappointing result yesterday with Pastoral Player finishing fourth in Supreme Stakes at Goodwood. For some reason the horse was massive drifter on course going off over 13-1 on betfair from early 5-1

However in the race there was no real excuses, Pastoral Player looked to be coming with promising run with two furlongs to run ,though the effort petered out inside the final furlong .Only managing fourth for £100.00 loss .

Moving on to bank holiday Monday,as usual we have plenty of low grade meetings and normally I would give the racing a miss, with so much low quality on offer. However there looks quite interesting 1 mile claiming stakes at Newcastle ,that looks worth a small bet .

3.25 NEWCASTLE 1 MILE CLAIMING STAKES :
9 runners declared for 1 mile claiming stakes on ground described as good/soft .This doesn't look bad race for this grade .The three main contenders look to be ,Joburg ,Extraterrestrial & King Pin .

JO'BURG :Fair handicapper on his day won two class 4 handicaps last season at Redcar off marks 77 & 81 .Returned to winning ways when dropped into claiming company beating Extraterrestrial by 3/4 lengh at Doncaster in July .Well beaten last time in handicap at Redcar finishing last of 11 ,though will be suited returning to claiming company.

EXTRATERRESTRIAL :Been running well in this grade recently ,won 1 mile claimer at Carlisle in July and was just touched off next time in 9 furlong claimer at same course behind Seattle Drive  .Finished fair 6th of 16 last time in class three handicap at Ripon & will be suited dropping back into claiming company.

KING PIN :Been disappointing on his last three starts in handicap company ,though has fair record in this grade .Won 1 mile claimer over C&D in April and will be suited returning to this grade ,though still has bit to find at today's weights .

VERDICT : Jo 'burg is 4LB clear on official BHA ratings and has good record in claimers ,though all nine victories have come on good or faster ground ,with the soft ground conditions here looks worth taking on at around 6-4 .

EXTRATERRESTRIAL has to reverse Doncaster form with Jo'burg ,though will be better suited to these softer ground conditions .Has been running well in claiming company this season and can get the better of Jo 'Burg .In what looks weak race 11-4 looks fair value .

Of the others King Pin has each-way claims ,has fair record in claimers ,though will need bounce back after three disappointing runs recently .

Sunday 25th August Supreme Stakes Bet

Good result on Thursday with Lucky Kristale winning the Lowther Stakes in good style at 11-4 for tidy profit of £343.00 profit .Its been good month so far for the blog with three winners from four bets for £665 profit / 6.65 points.

Hopefully we can keep the good run going on Sunday .Going concentrate on the day's feature race the 7 furlong Green King Supreme Stakes on ground described as good .

4.30 GOODWOOD 7F SUPREME STAKES GROUP 3:
9 runners declared for group three contest at Goodwood .The main contenders look to be Boom Or Bust , Penitent & Pastoral Player .

BOOM AND BUST : Consistent sort ,been running well in group company this season ,finishing third over C&D in group two Lennox stakes at Glorious Goodwood in July .Followed that with 6 lengh second behind the useful Afsare in group three contest at Salisbury last time .

PENITENT : Useful sort when there's cut in the ground ,won two group 2 contests last season at Newmarket & Sandown .Finished good second behind Gregorian in group 3 Diomed Stakes at Epsom at end of may .Will be suited by any rain .

PASTORAL PLAYER : Not the easiest ride ,though useful sort on his day .Won group three Timeform Jury Stakes at Haydock last season .Looked unlucky when beaten short head in same race this season .Never got any kind run last time when finishing unplaced behind Garswood in Lennox stakes .

VERDICT : Penitent is 5LB clear on official BHA ratings and looks the one to beat after winning two group 2 races last season ,though his last seven wins have all come over 1 mile ,the drop back to 7 furlongs is major concern .

PASTORAL PLAYER is tricky ride and will need luck in running, though has plenty solid form in group races and this race should be run to suit .With confirmed front runners Boom and Bust & Libranno in the race .Odds around 5-1 look fair each-way value, in not the strongest looking group three contest .

Of the others the reliable Boom and Bust has each-way claims ,though normally comes up just short in group company .

Thursday 22nd August Lowther Stakes Bet

Day two of York Ebor meeting with the two feature races being group one Yorkshire Oaks over 12 furlongs and group two Lowther stakes over 6 furlongs for 2 year old fillies .

Going concentrate on group two Lowther stakes at 2.30 on ground described as good/firm .

2.30 YORK 6F LOWTHER STAKES 2-Y-0 FILLIES GROUP 2:
9 runners declared for group two Lowther stakes over 6 furlongs for two year old fillies .This looks decent contest with two main contenders being .Lucky Kristale & J Wonder .

LUCKY KRISTALE :Won 3 times from four starts .Good winner last time of group two Duchess Of Cambridge stakes at Newmarket beating the useful Rizeena by 2.5 lenghs .Went off 20-1 shot that day ,though there looked no fluke by that victory .Should go well with ideal conditions .

J WONDER :Unbeaten after 2 starts winning at Newbury & Newmarket .Won in good style last time in 6 furlong nursery handicap at Newmarket beating Midnite Angel off mark 79 .That form has been boosted with Midnite Angel finishing 2nd in group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket last time .Looks open to plenty improvement after two starts .

VERDICT : J Wonder has to be respected after winning both starts ,though that last win did only come off mark 79 and will need to show a lot of improvement to win this group two contest .Odds around 5-2 look too short .

LUCKY KRISTALE IS 3LB clear on official handicap ratings and looks the one to beat here after winning in good style last time in similar group two contest .I was expecting lot shorter price here around 7-4 / 2-1,though the 3-1 has now gone. 11-4 still looks good value .

Wednesday 14th August Listed Stakes Bet !!!

Good Start for the blog in August with two winners over weekend for £422 /4.22 profit.Having taken six week break from the blog this summer after some disappointing results. It's good to come back to some kind of form with couple winners.Hopefully we can continue the good run this week .

On Wednesday the feature race is 10 furlong listed race at Salisbury on ground described as good/firm .

3.55 SALISBURY 10F UPHAVON FILLIES LISTED STAKES
10 runners declared for 10 furlong fillies listed race .This looks competitive race with the three main contenders being Hippy Hippy Shake ,Bana Wu & Rock Choir .

HIPPY HIPPY SHAKE : C&D winner ,won 10 furlong listed race at York last time beating Lady Nouf .Hard to weigh up that form, with odds on favourite Albasharah unseating rider early in the race .Faces no easy task conceding weight all round .

BANA WU : Finished good third last time in 10 furlong listed handicap at Royal Ascot behind the useful Forgotten Voice off mark 99 ,that form has been boosted by Forgotten Voice winning group 3 contest next time at Goodwood.

ROCK CHOIR : Fast improving three year old ,bolted up in 9 furlong maiden at Goodwood & 10 furlong class three handicap at Newbury last time off mark 82.Open to plenty improvement after just four starts .

VERDICT : Rock Choir could be anything after bolting up in her last two starts ,though that last win came in class three handicap off mark 82 and takes big step up in class here into listed company .Has to be respected ,though little surprising she's been put in clear favourite at 5-2

On official handicap figures BANA WU is top rated on 102 and finished excellent third last time only beaten 3/4 lengh behind subsequent group three winner Forgotten Voice .That looks solid form and looks the one to beat if reproducing that form  .Odds around 4-1 look fair value .

Of the others Hippy Hippy Shake should be thereabouts after winning listed race at York ,though this looks much stronger listed race .

Mango Diva also has each/way possibilities if improving over this longer trip after finishing staying on  9th of 26 in 1 mile listed handicap at Royal Ascot last time .

Sunday 11th August Phoenix Sprint Stakes Bet

Nice to come back with winner on Saturday with Ihtimal winning in good style in Sweet Solera stakes, landing nice gamble 4-1 into 11-4 .Hopefully that will be the start of good run in August .

On Sunday we have very decent card from the Curragh ,including four group races .The feature race is group one Keeneland Phoenix Stakes ,though this not really betting race with odds on favourite War Command looking impossible to oppose .

The most interesting race on the card looks to be the group three Phoenix sprint stakes over 6 furlongs at 4.15

4.15 CURRAGH 6F PHOENIX SPRINT STAKES GROUP THREE:
10 runners declared for this group three contest .On official handicap ratings this looks match between Sea Siren & Slade Power .

SEA SIREN : High quality sprinter in Australia winning three group one races in 2012 ,finished 8th of 18 in G1 Golden Jubilee stakes at Royal Ascot .Made no mistake on her first start for A P O'Brien ,when dropped in class winning 6 furlong listed race at Fairyhouse .Looks to hold obvious claims in this group three contest .

SLADE POWER: Fast improving 4-Y-0 ,won 5 furlong group three contest at Curragh in June beating Russian Soul .Followed that with career best effort finishing third in group one July Cup behind Lethal Force .Will be suited by this drop in class .

VERDICT : There looks little to choose between Sea Siren & Slade Power on there running in Golden Jubilee stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

SLADE POWER has to concede weight all round ,though his third in group one July Cup at Newmarket  is best form on offer here and is just preferred over Sea Siren .Odds around 11-4 look fair value in race lacking strength in depth .

Sea Siren looks the obvious danger receiving 6LB after winning in good style at Fairyhouse last time ,though odds around 11-8 don't represent much value .
