Tuesday's claiming analysis !!!

Monday's bet on One More Roman finished second in 6F claiming stakes ,no real complaints was given good ride by Amy Ryan from the front ,and looked the likely winner with 2 furlongs to run.

Trading short as 1-4 in running on betfair ,though was unable to hold on inside final furlong and in the end was beaten 1.5 lenghs .Small profit on the race of £6.00

Moving onto Tuesday's racing we have one claiming race over 6F on the fibresand at Southwell.

SOUTHWELL 2.30 6F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Six runners go to post for 6F claiming stakes at Southwell ,this looks very tricky race with four of the runners having some kind of chance.

Malcheek :Prolific winner over the years with excellent record on All Weather winning 5 from 11 ,though hasn't shown much on recent starts and drop back to 6F looks big question mark.

Imprimis Tagula :Course specialist with 8 wins here at Southwell ,though hasn't shown much for over a year and was very disappointing last time when well beaten in seller here at Southwell.

Katy's Secret : Consistent mare with unbeaten record here at Southwell 2 from 2 ,won 6F claimer over C&D last time at Southwell beating Stevie G in good style .Has plenty to find on official handicap ratings ,though is in top form and cannot be ruled out with plenty question marks about her main rivals .

Pick A Little : Won 4 times in 2011 for Ron Hodges ,including twice on poly track .Finished fair fourth last time for new trainer Hughie Morrison in 6F handicap at Wolverhampton off mark 80 .Makes his first start on fibresand

VERDICT : Both Malcheek & Imprimis Tagula have looked very disappointing on recent starts and both appear on the downgrade. Katy's Secret is very reliable in this grade and looks sure run her race ,though faces stiff task at these weights.

PICK A LITTLE has to prove he can handle fibresand ,though looks to have best recent form finishing fourth of mark 80 last time .Will be suited by this drop in class and trainer Hughie Morrison has very good record here at Southwell .

This looks difficult claimer with question marks about all the runners.PICK A LITTLE looks the most solid ,though odds around 6-4 look no value on horse unproven on the surface. Not betting race for me and will wait for better opportunity.

Mondays best bets !!

One flat card on Monday at Wolverhampton with 6 furlong 3 year old claiming race at 2.35

2.35 WOLVERHAMPTON 6F 3-Y-0 CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6:
Just five runners go to post for 6F 3-Y-0 claiming stakes .On official handicap ratings this looks three horse race between Redair , Faraway & One More Roman .

Redair :Won 5F claimer at Lingfield on Friday beating Thorpe Bay ,though that looked very weak race with that rival only rated 58 .Has to be respected at these weights ,though this looks much stronger race and both career wins came over 5 furlongs .

Faraway : Dual C&D winner here at Wolverhampton winning seller & claimer in 2011 and also finished close second behind Le King Beau (5 time claiming winner ) at the end of December ,though has looked disappointing on his last two starts when well beaten in claimer and seller .

One More Roman : Won two races for Stan Moore in December , including winning 7 furlong claimer here at Wolverhampton .Finished second over C&D on his first start for Gay Kellaway earlier this month with Faraway back in third.Looked disappointing last time when finishing last of 5 in handicap at Southwell ,though didn't seem to handle  fibresand.

VERDICT : Faraway's looks well treated at these weights and is 8LB better off with One More Roman when beaten 3.5 lengh earlier this month ,though odds around 6-4 look short for horse that was well beaten on his last two starts in similar company.

ONE MORE ROMAN has to bounce back after disappointing run at Southwell last time ,though previously had put in two solid runs at Wolverhampton .Has plenty early speed and could take some catching  in this small field .Odds around 9-2 look fair value .

Weekly results / round up !!

Another decent week with 2 winners from 2 bets for £630 / 6.30 pts profit on the week .Both bets winning at Wolverhampton on Friday evening .

The first bet was on Master Of Disguise in opening race, 5F claiming stakes winning comfortably at 5-2 for + £300 / 3.00 pts profit.

The second bet was on Spinning Ridge in the 1 mile claiming stakes, this was lot closer race with Spinning Ridge just holding on by head at 11-4 for £330 / 3.30 pts profit .

Very happy how the claiming races have gone in January we have put up 20 selections in the claiming races with 10 winners .(7-2)(3-1)(11-4)(5-2)(5-2)(5-2)(Ev)(5-6)(2-7)(2-7) for profit of 9.59 at 1pt win level stakes at SP.

My own personal bets there's been 9 bets in claiming races in January with 4 winners(10-3)(3-1)(11-4)(5-2)for profit £818.00 / 8.18 pts .

Fridays best bets!!

We have busy day on Friday with no less than four claiming races with two at each meeting .
Lingfield 1.50 ) Lingfield 2.50 ) Wolverhampton 4.40 ) Wolverhampton 6.10 )

Both Lingfield races have small fields with just 6 runners in each race .Will be concentrating on the two Wolverhampton races for the days best bets.

1.50 LINGFIELD 5F 3-Y-0 CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Just six runners declared for very weak looking 5F claiming stakes .Which looks two horse race between Redair & Strike A Pose .

Redair : Consistent filly won on debut in 2 year old maiden at Kempton back in March,Hasn't won since though has finished second three times ,including finishing second in 6 furlong claimer back in October .

Strike A Pose : Did show some promise on debut finishing 8th of 12 in what looked decent looking 6F maiden at Lingfield behind the Mark Johnston trained Switzerland .

VERDICT : Redair is 13LB clear on official handicap ratings and looks the one to beat in weak race .Strike A Pose takes drop in class into claiming company and looks open to improvement after one start, though the shorter trip has to be question mark. Not betting race for me ,though Redair is most likely winner.

(1) REDAIR (2) STRIKE A POSE

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.50 LINGFIELD 7F CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES 0-75 CLASS 6
Another small field at Lingfield with just six runners declared for 7F classified claimer .This looks another two horse race with Satwa Laird & Fishforcompliments looking the main two contenders.

Satwa Laird : Finished fair third for new trainer Dave Simcock off mark 73 over C&D at Lingfield in 7F handicap earlier this month.Slightly disappointing last time in 1 mile handicap at Kempton when finishing well beaten  seventh .Will be suited dropping into claiming company for first time.

Fishforcompliments :Consistent type, though not easiest horse to win with 3 wins from 61 starts .Finished placed on his last three starts in claiming company and should be thereabouts again .

VERDICT : Satwa Laird taking drop in class into claiming company for first time  is narrowly favoured over Fishforcompliments ,though both horses  have poor strike rates, and again not betting race for me .

(1) SATWA LAIRD (2) FISHFORCOMPLIMENTS

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4.40 WOLVERHAMPTON 5F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 .
Interesting looking sprint claimer with 8 runners declared for 5F claimer at Wolverhampton with three main contenders ,Where's Riley ,Ebraam and Master Of Disguise .

Where's Riley : Good record on fibresand at Southwell winning 6 times from 15 starts ,not so good on polytrack with 1 win from 8 starts. The only win coming in 5 furlong seller at Lingfield back in December .Has to respected at these weights though looks better horse on fibresand.

Ebraam : Prolific winner over the years, winning 10 times on polyrack with five wins here at Wolverhampton .Won twice in 2011 including winning 6F class 4 handicap at Kempton off mark 84 .Looked  disappointing last time when only finishing fourth in 6F seller here at Wolverhampton ,though should improve for that run (first run for 5 months )

Master Of Disguise: C&D winner in claimer at Wolverhampton back in October .Finished fair second last time in 6 furlong seller at Wolverhampton behind Cape Of Storms with Ebraam back in fourth .Will be suited dropping back in trip ,all three career wins coming over 5 furlongs .

VERDICT :Ebraam is best in at the weights on official handicap ratings, though has to reverse form with Master Of Disguise on 5LB worse terms ,though did seem to pull very hard that day and will be big danger if settling better.

Where's Riley has shown bits and pieces of form on poly track ,though looks far better on fibresand and has never shown much here at Wolverhampton finishing unplaced on all four occasions.

MASTER OF DISGUISE looks more solid than his two main rivals  having put in two good runs here at Wolverhampton over 6F recently, finishing close fourth of mark 78 and second in seller last time. The return to 5 furlongs should also suit  .

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6.10 WOLVERHAMPTON 1 MILE CLASSIFIED CLAIMER CLASS 6
Nine runners declared for 1 mile classified claiming stakes at Wolverhampton. This looks very competitive claimer ,the main contenders look to be Spinning Ridge ,Ajdaad & Pipers Piping .

Pipers Piping : Five time course winner here at Wolverhampton .Finished fair second on Tuesday at Southwell in 1 mile handicap off mark 65 .Will be suited returning to his favourite track .

Spinning Ridge : Reliable sort won 4 handicaps in 2011.Won claimer at Kempton earlier this month  beating Marajaa by head .Finished decent fourth in above average 1 mile claimer at Lingfield on Wednesday behind Munsarim .Should go well in this easier race.

Ajdaad :Dual C&D winner here at Wolverhampton .Won twice this winter including winning over C&D in handicap in November off mark  65.Also won seller over 1 mile at Lingfield in December beating Pipers Piping by head .Been bit disappointing on  last two starts at Lingfield

VERDICT :Not great deal to separate the three main contenders at these weights ,though SPINNING RIDGE has the best recent form and ran good fourth in better claiming race at Lingfield on Wednesday.

Pipers Pipping rates as main danger after finishing fair second at Southwell last time with Keiron Fallon looking interesting jockey booking .

Quiet start to the week !!!

Been  quiet start to the week with no claiming races on Monday or Tuesday .On Wednesday we have one claiming race at Lingfield with seven runners declared for 1 mile claiming stakes at 1.20.

1.20 LINGFIELD 1 MILE CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
7 runners go to post for 1 mile claiming stakes at Lingfield ,this looks very competitive with five runners having some kind chance in very open looking claimer .The main contenders look to be Marajaa , Munsarim and Opus Maximus .

Marajaa : Been in great form this winter winning twice ,including winning class 4 handicap over C&D earlier this month .Should won last time in 1 mile claimer at Kempton when given far too much ground to make up only failing by head .

Munsarim : Won 9 furlong claimer at Wolverhampton last time in first time blinkers beating fair sort and had some decent form on turf in 2011 winning two handicaps in the summer .

Opus Maximus :Fair record in claiming company winning 4 from 11 ,been contesting competitive handicaps on recent starts .Finished fair 6TH yesterday in class 4 handicap at Kempton staying on well at finish .Will be suited returning to claiming company .

VERDICT :This looks very tricky claimer with both Marajaa & Opus Maximus need delivering as late as possible and that could be problem if there's no pace in this small field .

Munsarim won in good style last time at Wolverhampton when dropping into claiming company for first time, and likes to race close to the pace which should suit in this small field .

Not betting race for me with only 7 runners ,though Munsarim is slightly favoured with the race likely to be run to suit.

Weekly results / round up !!

After what had been slow start to the year ,its good to come back with good week with two winners from three bets for profit + £738 /7.38 pts on the week

On Monday BAWAARDI won the 7 furlong claiming stakes at Wolverhampton in good style at 3-1 for nice profit of £348 / 3.48 pts .

We had two bets on Wednesday the first bet was on LASTKINGOFSCOTLAND in 7 furlong classifield claimer at Lingfield ,landing his fifth course win at Lingfield for tidy +£400 / 4.00 pts profit .

The second bet on Red Somerset in 1 mile claiming stakes at Kempton was slightly disappointing finishing well beaten third at 4-1 ,though not too much damage done with loss - £10.00 / 0.10 pts.

Overall a very decent week with £738 profit and that puts us in profit for the month with £188 profit after seven bets .

THE RESULTS :

Fridays claiming analysis !!!

Two flat cards on Friday at Lingfield & Wolverhampton ,though very disappointing turn out for 6 furlong claiming stakes at Lingfield with just five runners going to post.

1.25 LINGFIELD 6F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Just five runners for 6F claiming stakes at Lingfield and this looks two horse race between Hinton Admiral & Drawnfromthepast .

Hinton Admiral : Good record in claiming company with 5 wins from 13 starts ,returned to form last time winning 7 furlong seller here at Lingfield .Looks sure to go well in this weak claimer.

Drawnfromthepast : Won 6 furlong class 3 handicap off mark 89 back in July for Ed Walker ,though hasn't reproduced that form, and has looked bit disappointing for Jamie Osborne on his last two starts.

VERDICT :Strictly on official handicap ratings Drawnfromthepast is the one to beat being rated 85  ,though has failed to deliver on last four starts in claiming company .

HINTON ADMIRAL looks more solid having won five times in claiming company and looks the one to beat .Odds around 5-4 don't make great appeal and not betting race for me.

(1) HINTON ADMIRAL (2) DRAWNFROMTHEPAST

Thursday's claiming analysis !!!

Good start to the week with 2 winners from 3 bets.On Monday Bawaadi won 7F claiming stakes in good style at 3-1 for £348.00 / 3.48 pt profit .

Wednesday we had two bets with Lastkingofscotland winning 7F classified claimer at Lingfield at 10-3 under excellent tactical ride from Hayley Turner for nice £400 / 4.00 pt profit .The second bet was on Red Somerset in 1 mile claiming stakes at Kempton finishing third for small loss of £10.00 / 0.10 pts .

After what had been slow start to the year, its good to turn things around this week with £738 profit  ,hopefully the good run will continue.

Moving onto Thursday's racing just the one flat card at Wolverhampton with one claiming race over 1 mile 6 furlongs.

5.00 WOLVERHAMPTON 1 MILE 6F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Just 7 runners go to post for 14 furlong claimer at Wolverhampton .This looks very weak claimer with odds on favourite La Estrella looking impossible to oppose.

La Estrella : Been in great form this winter winning twice ,including winning class 4 handicap here at Wolverhampton last time .Has fantastic record in claiming company winning 10 from 11

Admiral Duque looks the one for forecast after winning class 5 handicap over C&D in December by easy 7 lenghs , though was well beaten by La Estrella last time at Wolverhampton .

VERDICT :LA ESTRELLA should make it claiming win number eleven in what looks very weak race .Odds around 2-7 make little betting appeal.

(1) LA ESTRELLA (2) ADMIRAL DUQUE

Wednesday best bets !!

Two flat cards on Wednesday at Lingfield & Kempton with no less than three claiming races with two at Lingfield and one at Kempton .

1.20 LINGFIELD 7F CLASSIFIED CLAIMER CLASS 6
Nine runners declared for 7 furlong claiming stakes at Lingfield with three main contenders .Lastkingofscotland , Joe The Taxis & Lutine Charlie

Lastkingofscotland :Four time course winner here at Lingfield ,bounced back to form earlier this month landing gamble in 7 furlong handicap at Wolverhampton .Slightly disappointing last time at Lingfield over 6F when getting no kind of run on inside .Will be suited returning to 7 furlongs .

Joe The Taxis : Won four 6F handicaps on the All Weather for Mark Johnston earlier last year .Ran twice in America for Gerard Butler showing absolutely nothing finishing last on both runs in 1 mile claimers .

Lutine Charlie : Won 6F seller at Kempton in November and then finished fair second in handicap over C&D at Lingfield ,though needs bounce back after disappointing run in 6F claimer at Kempton on Sunday .

VERDICT : Joe The Taxis looks interesting returning to Mark Johnston stable after winning four handicaps earlier last year ,though all his best form is over 6 furlongs and this will be his first run since last June .

Lutine Charlie looks well treated off 8 stone 2LB having finished 2ND in handicap here off mark 74 in November ,though was disappointing on Sunday in what looked weak claimer at Kempton .

LASTKINGOFSCOTLAND looks more solid than his two main rivals and has decent record here at Lingfield and will be suited returning to this longer trip.Odds around 7-2 look fair value .

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.25 LINGFIELD 2 MILE CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Just six runners declared for 2 mile claiming stakes .This looks very weak claimer with the Mark Johnston trained Exemplary looking hard to oppose after finishing 2ND in class 4 handicap at Wolverhampton last time off mark 85

VERDICT : EXEMPLARY looks impossible to oppose, 7LB clear on official handicap ratings and is proven winner over 2 miles .Kavoloti looks the one for forecast after winning 2 mile handicap back in June ,though this will his be first run since July. Not betting race for me odds around 4-11 make little betting appeal .

(1) EXEMPLARY (2) KAVOLOTI

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.55 KEMPTON 1MILE CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Nine runners for 1 mile claimer at Kempton .On official handicap ratings this looks between  Marajaa & Red Somerset

Marajaa : Bolted up in claimer over C&D in December beating Fishforcompliments by an easy 3 lenghs .Followed that by winning 1 mile class 4 handicap at Lingfield off mark 80 .That form has been franked with the second horse Nibani winning handicap next time .

Red Somerset :Three time C&D winner here at Kempton .Has excellent record in claiming  company 4 wins from 6 starts .Not shown great deal on his last three starts in handicap company ,though will be suited returning to claiming company .

VERDICT : Marajaa looks sure to go well returning to claiming company ,though faces no easy task trying to concede 13LB to his main rival .Odds around 5-4 look on the short side ,though has to be repected.

RED SOMERSET looks very well treated at these weights and goes well here at Kempton in claiming company .Odds around 7-2 look very fair value .

Mondays best bets !!

Busy start to the week with two claiming races on the Wolverhampton card .The first race on the card at 2.25 we have 7F claiming stakes and the second claiming race at 4.25 over the 1 mile for three year olds.

2.25 WOLVERHAMPTON 7F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS
7 runners  for 7F claiming stakes at Wolverhampton .The stable companions,Bawaardi & One Way Or Another look the main two contenders .

Bawaardi : Won three times in 2011 for Richard Fahey including winning 7F class 3 handicap at Newcastle in May .Returned to form on Boxing day when winning claimer over C&D beating One Way Or Another by head .Was subsequently claimed by David Evans for £9,000 ,though was disappointing in handicap at Lingfield on his first start for the stable.

One Way Or Another :Consistent sort ,won twice in 2011 including winning  7F claimer in December at Lingfield.Looks very closely matched with stable companion Bawaardi on Wolverhampton form .

VERDICT :The David Evans pair One Way or Another and  Bawaardi look very closely matched at these weights ,though slight preference is for BAWAARDI who has won at lot higher level and goes well here at Wolverhampton .Odds around 3-1 look fair value .

4.25 WOLVERHAMPTON 1MILE 141YDS 3-Y-0 CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
With three non runners just the six runners go to post, though this looks wide open 3 year old claiming stakes with,Anginola & Let Your Love Flow looking the main two contenders.

Let Your Love Flow : Consistent filly in this grade won claimer over C&D in November and also been placed five times here at Wolverhampton 231223 .Should be thereabouts again off bottom weight .

Anginola : Won 1 mile nursery handicap at Kempton back in September off mark 61 ,running consistently since including finishing third at Nottingham & fourth here at Wolverhampton in handicap over C&D in behind Maybeagrey .

VERDICT : This looks very weak claiming stakes with only Let Your Love Flow & Anginola having won a race . Let Your Love Flow returning to Wolverhampton in claiming company should go well ,though slight preference is for ANGINOLA who looks very well treated off  7 stone 11LB and could also improve for first time visor having hung badly right last time at Kempton .

Not betting race for me with so many question marks about most of the runners .

Saturdays claiming analysis !!!

Disappointing run from Elijah Pepper on Friday in 1 mile claiming stakes finishing well beaten third behind the Keith Dalglish trained Munsarim who landed big gamble 7-1 into 7-2 .Not horse I really considered having already been beaten by Elijah Pepper and didn't look well treated off 9 stone 8lb .

Not been great start to 2012 with all three bets running disappointing races and loss of 5.50 pts on the month.,though a disappointing start in January its still early days and long term profits are what count in this game .Hopefully we can recover losses before the end of the month.

Moving onto Saturday's racing just the one flat card and we have an early start at Lingfield with 10 furlong claimer at 11.55

11.55 LINGFIELD 10 FURLONG CLAIMER CLASS 6
Seven runners declared for 10 furlong claimer at Lingfield with three main contenders Brunston ,Kings Colour & Ajdaad

Brunston :Fair handicapper back in 2009/2010 including winning the spring cup at Newbury in 2010 off mark 86 .Switched to hurdles last season winning two novice hurdles for Nicky Henderson .Below form when finishing seventh in 12F handicap at Lingfield last month .

Kings Colour : Won seller over C&D at Lingfield in December beating Potentiale by 3.5 lenghs .Ran another solid race last time when beaten short head in claimer at Lingfield over C&D behind Irons On Fire .

Ajdaad : Won three times in 2011 winning two sellers and handicap .Finished close third last time over C&D at Lingfield only head behind Kings Colour .

VERDICT : Brunston has to be respected taking big drop in class after contesting some decent handicaps on turf and will be suited by the drop back to 10 furlongs, though does have to prove himself on poly track .

Slight preference is for KINGS COLOUR who Kieron Fallon looks interesting jockey booking for small stable .Ran well on his last two starts over course and distance at Lingfield  and can confirm form over Ajaad .With only seven runners declared not betting race for me .

(1) KINGS COLOUR (2) BRUNSTON

Fridays best bets!!

Two flat cards on Friday at Lingfield & Wolverhampton .Just the one claiming race today at Wolverhampton's twilight card at 6.40

6.40 WOLVERHAMPTON 1 MILE 141 YDS CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 5
Just the six runners declared for 1 mile claiming stakes at Wolverhampton. This looks tricky little race with three main contenders .Standpoint , Sunnyside Tom & Elijah Pepper

Standpoint : Consistent sort ,won claimer over C&D back November beating Opus Maximus by neck ,followed that with two seconds in class 4 handicaps at Wolverhampton & Southwell .Slightly disappointing last time when finishing well beaten fifth at Southwell .Will be suited returning to claiming company .

Sunnyside Tom : Good record in claimers on turf  winning six times .Lightly raced on the All Weather with just the two starts .Slightly disappointing last time at Southwell in claimer when beaten in 4 runner race behind Mcconnel  .

Elijah Pepper : Good record here at Wolverhampton with 4 wins from 10 starts.Won class 5 handicap here at Wolverhampton back in October beating Dream Of Fortune.Very disappointing run last time at Lingfield when finishing last of eight .

VERDICT : Interesting little claimer with very little to choose between the three main contenders at these weights .STANDOUT returning to claiming company looks sure to go well after finishing second in better races and could take some catching in this little field ,though isn't the easiest horse to win with having only won twice from 35 starts .

SUNNYSIDE TOM has excellent record in this grade on turf ,though has to prove himself on the poly track. Can't be ruled out though there has to be question mark about this surface.

ELIJAH PEPPER has to bounce back from disappointing run at Lingfield last time ,though has an excellent record here at Wolvehampton 2134231151 with three wins coming over this C&D .Drops into claiming company for first time since 2008 .Odds around 5-2 look decent value in this small field .

 ELIJAH PEPPER 6.40 WOLVERHAMPTON

Thursday's claiming analysis !!!

Two flat cards on Thursday with the first claiming race of the week.Another small field with just 6 runners for 5 furlong classified claimer for apprentices on the fibresand at Southwell.

12.55 SOUTHWELL 5F CLASSIFIED CLAIMER CLASS 6
Six runners for 5 furlong apprentice claimer .On paper this looks between the two in form course winners Soopacal  & Upper Lambourn .

Soopacal : Consistent sort in this grade, finished second on his last two starts over 6 furlongs here for Michael Herrington .Runs for first time for Brian Ellison after being claimed for £5,000 after finishing fair second behind Global Village in claimer last time at Southwell .

Upper Lambourn : Lightly raced 4-Y-0 only had the six starts winning twice here at Southwell .Won 6 furlong handicap last time at Southwell coming from off the pace to  beat Mazovian by 1 lengh .

VERDICT : Not great deal to choose between Soopacal & Upper Lambourn at these weights ,though preference is for SOOPACAL who will be suited by this drop back to 5 furlongs having won three times over the distance including winning similar race over C&D around this time last year .

UPPER LAMBOURN looks the obvious danger though drop back to 5 furlongs may not suit ,having looked to need every yard of the 6 furlong trip last time at Southwell .

Not betting race for me SOOPACAL looks the most likeliest winner ,though odds around 13-8 don't  make great appeal.

(1) SOOPACAL (2) UPPER LAMBOURN

Weekly results / round up !!

Disappointing start to 2012 with what can only be described as very poor week .Both bets ran shocking races after being well supported in market .With loss £350 / 3.50 pts on the week.

The first bet was on Tuesday in 6 furlong claiming stakes at Southwell on Punching £50 each-way at 7-2  after travelling well in early part of the race found very little once headed finishing well beaten fourth behind the 14-1 long shot Dickie Le Davoir .Loss - £100 / 1.00 pt

Second bet was on Friday at Woverhampton in 5 furlong claiming stakes this was split stakes bet on two horses Red Cape £75 each-way @ 7-2 & Hinton Admiral £50 each-way @ 6-1 .Really disappointed with this race both horses had been in good form this winter and looked to have strong chances in this claimer ,though both ran no kind race finishing fifth and sixth behind 12-1 outsider Desert Strike  .Loss -£250 / 2.50 pts .

Moving quickly onto next weeks racing, its going to be very quiet start to the week, for some reason there are no flat claiming races in Uk till Thursday .Why we don't have any claimers in early part the week is anyone's guess .Hopefully it will be better week than last week :-)

Next blog update Thursday 13th January .

THE RESULTS :

ON THE WEEK :

OVERALL AFTER WEEK ONE 2012 :

Saturdays claiming analysis !!!

Disappointing day on Friday with both bets in 5 furlong claiming stakes at Wolverhampton both running poorly, after being well supported in market .Red Cape going off the 5-2 favourite from 7-2 and Hinton Admiral 9-2 from 6-1 ,though both horses ran well below form finishing fifth and sixth.

Not a bet I normally use backing two in the same race ,though I thought early morning favourite Drawnfromthepast was worth taking on at the prices and Red Cape & Hinton Admiral both looked value bets at the prices.

Have to admit got the race totally wrong with 12-1 outsider Desert Strike winning comfortably from Angelo Poliziano .Loss on the day £250 / 2.50 pts

Moving on too Saturdays racing one flat card at Lingfield with 10 furlong classified claiming stakes at 12.40.

12.40 LINGFIELD 10F CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
8 runners for 10 furlong classified claimer .The three last time out winners Kings Colour ,Ajdaad & Irons on Fire look the main contenders .

Kings Colour : Bounced back to form last time winning easily in seller over C&D at Lingfield ,had some decent form in 2010 winning three handicaps including winning at Epsom off mark 82 .

Ajdaad : Won three races in 2011 ,including winning 1 mile seller here at Lingfield last time beating Pipers Piping by neck .Has to prove he can stay this longer trip.

Irons on Fire : Has run two solid races over 12 furlongs here at Lingfield finishing second in handicap back in December off mark 63 ,followed that with an easy win in seller here last time at Lingfield beating Eagle Nebula by 3.5 lenghs .

VERDICT : This looks competitive claimer and not easy to separate the three last time out winners .Kings Colour has to concede weight all round ,though is slightly favoured after returning to form last time winning seller over course and distance.Had previously shown some decent form in better races.

Irons on Fire looks the biggest danger after winning 12f seller last time at Lingfield ,though the drop back in trip has to be concern .

Fridays best bets!!

Two flat cards on Friday at Lingfield & Wolverhampton .With quite interesting 5 furlong claiming race on Wolverhampton's twilight card .

4.45 WOLVERHAMPTON 5F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 5
8 declared runners for 5 furlong claiming stakes at Wolverhampton. This looks quite decent contest for class 5 race .The four main contenders look to be Red Cape , Drawnfromthepast , Lucky Art & Hinton Admiral .

Red Cape : Has been in good form this winter winning two handicaps at Wolverhampton .Won in good style last time in class 4 handicap off mark 77 over 6 furlongs.Should go well with ideal conditions .

Drawnfromthepast :Useful sprinter on his day won class 3 handicap at Bath in July off mark 89 ,though has looked bit disappointing on his last two starts when beaten in claiming company.

Lucky Art : Speedy front runner won five races in 2011 latest win in 5F claimer at Kempton in October ,been slightly disappointing on his last two starts in handicap company .Will be suited returning to claiming company .

Hinton Admiral : Been good form winning five races in 2011 including 3 claimers ,ran well on his last two starts here at Wolverhampton finishing placed both times in claimer & seller .

VERDICT : Drawnfromthepast is 4LB clear on official handicap ratings ,though there has to be question mark after being beaten on his last three starts in claiming company and did break blood vessel last time at Lingfield .Looks worth taking at around 9-4 mark

RED CAPE : Has to concede weight all round ,though has been in great form here at Wolverhampton and hasn't finished outside the first two on his last four starts at the track .Odds around 7-2 look decent value.

Lucky Art : Has to bounce back after couple disappointing runs in handicaps ,though could take some catching if getting an early lead .Has to be respected returning to claiming company.

HINTON ADMIRAL : Goes well in claiming company winning 5 times from 12 starts ,ran two solid  races on his last two starts here at Wolverhampton  and looks fair value at 6-1 .

Thursday's claiming analysis !!!

One flat card on Thursday a twilight meeting at Wolverhampton again disappointing turn out for 6 furlong 3 year old claiming stakes with just six runners .With lack runners in claiming races over past two weeks good betting opportunities have been very limited .Hopefully field sizes will improve over next few weeks.

5.10 WOLVERHAMPTON 6F 3-Y-0 CLASSIFIED CLAIMING STAKES
Just six runners declared  for 6f claimer at Wolverhampton .With three main contenders ,Faraway ,Adranian & One More Roman .

Faraway : Has been in good form this winter running three solid races ,winning claimer over C&D in December ,finished good second last time in quite decent claimer only beaten short head by prolific claiming winner Le King Beau .

Adranian :Has decent record here at Wolverhampton winning three times including two claimers ,has looked disappointing on his last two starts in handicap company at Southwell .Will be suited returning to Wolverhampton .

One More Roman : Won two races including winning 7f claimer here at Wolverhampton last time for J S Moore .Was subsequently claimed by Gay Kellaway for £6,000 .Looks well treated in this claimer off 8 stone 3LB .

VERDICT : One More Roman looks interesting on his first start for Gay Kellaway off low weight, after winning 7f claimer last time at Wolverhampton ,though has quite bit to find with Faraway on Kempton form.

Adranian has to bounce back after two disappointing runs at  Southwell ,though can't be totally ruled out here on his earlier form here at Wolverhampton .

FARAWAY has to concede weight all round here, though looks the one to beat after running excellent second last time behind Le King Beau who has already won 4 claimers this winter. Was hoping for around the 5-2 mark ,though at 7-4 this morning looks little short and no bet at that those prices.

Tuesdays best bets !!

One flat card on Tuesday on the fibresand at Southwell with quite interesting looking 6 furlong claiming stakes at 12.25

12.25 SOUTHWELL 6F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6
Just six runners for 6 furlong claiming stakes on the fibresand at Southwell .With two main contenders .Ingleby Arch & Punching .

Ingleby Arch : Course specialist with 9 wins here at Southwell and 8 wins over course & distance .Bounced back to form last time when winning 7 furlong claimer at Southwell beating Autumn Blades in good style .Looks sure to go well returning to his optimum trip .

PUNCHING : Another course specialist with 8 wins here at Southwell and 7 wins over course & distance .Won 6 furlong handicap back here in November beating Rowan Spirit by neck .Finished fair fourth last time on poly track at Lingfield .

VERDICT :Strictly on official handicap ratings Ingleby Arch is going to take plenty beating here, though was beaten couple times last season in claimers here at Southwell when short price favourite .Has to be respected though odds around 4-6 look too short .

At the prices PUNCHING looks better value and did beat Ingleby Arch in claimer here at Southwell over C&D back in February .Goes particularly well for Hayley Turner and looks fair value at around 3-1 in what looks two runner race.

PUNCHING 12.25 SOUTHWELL
0.50PTS  EACH-WAY @ 3-1 LADBROKES
(UNPLACED SP 11-4) LOSS -£100

Monday's claiming analysis !!!

Just the one flat card on Monday on the fibresand at Soutwell with one claiming race over 1 mile.Again disappointing turn out with just five runners going to post.

2.20 SOUTHWELL 1 MILE CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6:
Only five runners for 1 mile claiming stakes on the fibresand at Southwell .On official handicap ratings this looks between Sunnyside Tom & Mcconnel .

Sunnyside Tom :has excellent record in claimers on turf winning 6 from 11 ,though has only ran once on the AW at Southwell finishing 4TH in handicap back in 2009 .Should go well if handling this surface.

Mcconnel : Course specialist winning six times over course and distance at Southwell .Won twice in 2011 ,though was disappointing last time when well beaten in seller here at Southwell .

VERDICT : SUNNYSIDE TOM is 4LB clear on official handicap ratings and goes particularly well in this grade .Has to prove he can handle this fibresand ,though did finish fair fourth on his only try on this surface.Looks the one to beat though odds around 11-10 make little appeal.

Mcconnel has excellent record here at Southwell with his last 6 wins coming at this track over C&D,though did look disappointing last time when beaten in seller when short price favourite .Needs bounce back after that disappointing run ,though looks an obvious danger in weak race.
