Wednesdays best bets !!

Four average looking flat cards on Wednesday at Bath,Folkestone and two evening fixtures at Carlisle and Kempton . Going concentrate on the last race on the Folkestone card the 1 mile 4 furlong maiden stakes at 4.50, which looks quite interesting little maiden race.

1 MILE 4 FURLONG MAIDEN STAKES CLASS 5 FOLKESTONE 4.50
WHISPERED :Finished second on her last three starts in maidens over 1 mile 2 furlongs only just touched off on her last two starts which included nose second behind the Roger Varian trained Jiwen at Nottingham in July .That looks solid form with Jiwen going on to win class 4 handicap at Yarmouth next time by easy 3 lenghs off mark 77 .Should be suited by this longer trip.

VERDICT :  Plenty big stables represented in this maiden stakes with Potaras,Whispered & Figaro looking the three main contenders .

The Sir Henry Cecil trained Portaras has finished second three times in maiden races ,though probably ran his best race last time finishing third in class 4 handicap at Newmarket over I Mile 4 furlongs  behind Midnight Oil off mark 78 .Should go well though does have to concede plenty weight to the three year olds.

Figaro was only just touched off last time in 1 mile 2 furlong handicap at Newmarket behind Proud Chieftain off mark 74 .Should be thereabouts if staying this longer trip .

WHISPERED has done nothing wrong  in finishing second on her last last three starts and looks open to improvement over this longer trip having stayed on well at finish in her races. With BHA handicap rating of 79 will not need to improve much to win this maiden race.Trainer Sir Michael Stoute has excellent record here at Folkestone with 41% strike rate (7 from 17)  over last 5 years .

Quiet start to the week !!!

Its been quiet start to the week with no bets on Bank holiday Monday or Today. It's quite busy day for a Tuesday with five flat cards at Epsom ,Goodwood,Ripon & two evening fixtures on the All weather at Southwell & Wolverhampton.

Good betting opportunities look thin on the ground on Tuesday with some very tricky looking races ,though the racing looks lot more promising later in the week with possible bet tomorrow at Folkestone or Kempton.

Monday, August 29, 2011

Weekly results / round up !!

Finished up losing week with no winners from three bets ,all three bets did finish in the places, so not to much damage done with £65.00 loss on the week .

The first bet of the week was on the Monday at Kempton in 1 mile claiming stakes on EZDEYAAD at 100-30 with Ladbrokes .Well supported in market going off 5-2 chance ,though could only manage well beaten third. Loss of £50.00

The second bet was on Tuesday in 6 furlong selling stakes at Warwick on SILVER WIND at 6-1 with Bet365 ,no real complaints ran solid race finishing fair second behind the short price favourite Novere To Go .Profit £29.00

Final bet of the week was on the Thursday in 1 mile 2 year old claiming stakes at Wolverhampton on the Mick Channon trained YAMMOS at 7-2 with Bet365 ,again this one was well supported in market going off the 85-40 favourite ,though finishing third was bit disappointing never really picking up in the straight and only just holding on for third.Loss £44.00

Overall losing week with £65.00 loss ,though not too disappointed as all three bets finished in places .August has been decent month so far with over £1200 profit.

Taking rain check !!!

Conditions over the weekend are going to be very difficult ,with so much rain falling on Friday we can expect soft ground just about everywhere .

The major problem will be non runners on Saturday ,with conditions changing so quickly we can expect plenty non runners.

Goodwood stage the main meeting with the group two Celebration Mile & group three Prestige stakes the two feature races.

In the Betfair Celebration Mile last years winner POETS VOICE should take the beating if reproducing anything like last years form which included winning this race last year by over 4 lenghs on soft ground and then going on to win group one QE11 at Ascot ,though having not ran since March has to prove his fitness.

The group three Prestige stakes over 7 furlongs for 2 year old fillies looks interesting race with some promising 2 year olds .QUESTING looked very impressive when winning decent maiden at Newbury on debut ,though has to prove she can handle much softer ground conditions.Regal Realm looks the obvious danger after finishing second in group three Princess Margret Juddmonte Stakes at Ascot.

Some interesting races though not easy to find good betting opportunities on what looks very difficult  Saturday .

Thursdays best bets !!

Three flat cards on Thursday at Carlisle ,Lingfield & Wolverhampton .Going concentrate on 1 mile  2-Y-0 claiming stakes at Wolverhampton's evening fixture.

1 MILE 141YDS CLAIMING STAKES WOLVERHAMPTON 6.10
YAMMOS : Good winner of 1 mile seller at Windsor on Monday ,showing improved form over longer trip.Looks open to plenty more improvement over this extended mile being Son of Derby winner Sir Percy .

VERDICT : Not the strongest looking 2 year old  claiming stakes with three main contenders Lady Jourdain ,Yammos & Shelia's Buddy.

Lady Jourdain is very consistent filly having won two sellers and finished second in two claimers ,though all here form has been over shorter distances 6 & 7 furlongs, and not certain to stay this extended mile and looks worth taking on at around 9-4 mark

Shelia's Buddy still maiden after 6 starts ,though has some fair form in better class races including finishing second in 1 mile maiden race at Brighton earlier this month .Should go well taking drop in class.

YAMMOS won with quite bit in hand at Windsor on Monday evening ,relishing the step up in trip to 1 mile .Will not need to improve much on that run to win what looks weak looking claimer.7-2 looks decent value.

Tuesdays best bets !!

No excuses with Mondays bet on EZDEYAAD in 1 mile claiming stakes at Kempton ,had every chance just not good enough on the day finishing well beaten third .Not too much damage done with £50.00 loss on the day.

Moving on to Tuesdays racing ,three flat cards at Leicester,Yarmouth & Warwick .Going concentrate on Warwick's evening card and the 6 furlong selling stakes at 5.30.

6F SELLING STAKES CLASS 5 WARWICK 5.30
SILVER WIND :Course and distance winner ,won twice this season in 6 furlong handicaps at Warwick & Doncaster. Not most consistent of performers, though now's how to win having won seven times.Takes drop in class into selling company.

VERDICT : Low grade selling stakes though quite interesting race with question mark about short price favourite Novere To Go .

Novere To Go looks thrown in here having rating of 87 which puts him 15lb clear of his nearest rival ,though looks very hard access having shown very little this season in five starts in class 2 & 3 handicaps .Takes huge drop in class here into selling company, though at around 11-8 looks too short in market.

Dark Lane has won twice this season for Richard Fahey ,including winning claimer at Kempton last time .Was subsequently claimed by Tony Carrol for 6000 gns .Drops into selling company for first time and should be thereabouts.

SILVER WIND looks the each-way option in this selling stakes against the short price favourite Novere To Go .Has fair record here at Warwick winning over Course and Distance in April .Also goes particularly well for jockey Robert Winston who has won on the horse three times .At around 6-1 looks fair each-way value .

Mondays best bets !!!

After all the excitement last week at York its back to the bread and butter racing on Monday with three flat cards at Hamilton , Kempton & Windsor .

One race of interest on Monday the 1 mile claiming stakes  at Kempton ,which looks quite interesting.

1 MILE CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 KEMPTON 3.45
EZDEYAAD : Four time handicap winner last season for Alan Swinbank including winning class 3 handicap at Haydock off mark 90 .Changed hands at Newmarket October sales for 17,000 gns now with Ed Walker.Well Below form since winning handicap at Folkestone in May,though returned to form last time finishing second in above average claimer at Newbury.Should go well in this weaker looking race.

VERDICT : Not the strongest looking claimer with very few in form horses ,the three main contenders being Dark Islander ,Ezdeyaad & Pegasus Again .

Dark Islander had some fair form in U.S.A ,and is 7lb clear on official handicap ratings ,though has shown very little on his last two starts finishing last of 6 beaten 32 lenghs last time at Newmarket .Takes big drop in class here so can't be totally ruled out ,though hasn't won race since May 2008.

Pegasus bay looks the main danger after running well on his last two starts ,including finishing close forth over C&D in class 4 handicap off mark 78,though is on losing run of 15 stretching back to December 2009

EZDEYAAD looks to have best recent form finishing second in decent looking claimer over 7 furlongs at Newbury last time .Will be suited by the return to this longer trip and looks fair value at around 10-3 to beat some out form rivals .

Weekly results / round up !!

Saturday's bet on Harris Tweed was slightly disappointing only finishing fourth behind Opinion Poll in Lonsdale cup at York .

Harris Tweed appeared non stayer over the 2 mile trip ,after trying to make all the running, though faded quickly with two furlongs to run .Loss of £312 on the day .

Overall another fair week with £601 profit thanks to Sea Moon winning the Great Voltigeur on Wednesday at York .August has been very decent month so far with 3 winners from 6 bets for profit of £1296.

Saturdays best bets !!

Good to be back after two very enjoyable days at York ,with the main highlight for me being Sea Moon winning the Great Voltiguer on the Wednesday in great style by 8 lenghs at incredible SP of 11-2 .

I was more than happy to take 7-2 best price guarantee the return of 11-2 SP was huge bonus with over £913 profit. Also good to see Twice Over win another group one race beating his more fancied stable companion in thrilling race .

Moving on to Saturday's racing the final day of  York Ebor meeting ,going concentrate on group two Lonsdale Cup at 3.05

2 MILES GROUP TWO LONSDALE CUP YORK 3.05
HARRIS TWEED : Consistent group race performer been in good form this season finishing placed on all three starts .Ran good second last time at Glorious Goodwood in the group three Glorious stakes over 1 mile 4 furlongs just getting touched of by Drunken Sailor in close finish.Has to prove his stamina over 2 miles ,though wasn't stopping when winning over 1 mile 6 at Newmarket last season.

VERDICT :Interesting group two contest with three main contenders Opinion poll ,Blue Bajan & Harris Tweed.

Last years winner Opinion Poll should go well after winning last time in Goodwood Cup and will be suited by easy ground conditions ,though this looks tougher race than last year.

Blue Bajan looks closely matched with Opinion Poll on Goodwood Cup running and has 3lb pull in the weights .Should be thereabouts with conditions likely to suit.

HARRIS TWEED has some very decent form over shorter trips this season  and shapes as though he should stay this longer trip .Trainer William Haggas has been in excellent form this month. At around 4-1 looks very fair value.

York Ebor Festival day one !!!

The first day of the York festival doesn't look easy with some very difficult handicaps that don't really interest me for betting purposes .

The two feature races G1 Juddmonte international & G2 Great Voltiguer stakes both look very interesting races .

1M 4F GREAT VOLTIGEUR STAKES GROUP 2 YORK 3.05
SEA MOON :Smart prospect winning his last two starts .won well here last time in class 2 handicap over 1 mile 2 furlongs off mark 92 .Will be suited by step up in trip and looks open to plenty improvement .

VERDICT : Interesting St Leger trial with three main contenders .Nambian,Sea Moon & Seville.

Nambian : Tough sort, not stopped improving all year winning his last two starts at Ascot & Goodwood battled all the way to line last time when beating M.Stoute trained Fiorente in group 3 Gordon stakes at Glorious Goodwood over this distance ,this looks tougher race though can't ruled out.

Seville : Is clearly the one to beat after finishing second in Irish Derby & G1 Grand Prix De Paris ,though with only one win from seven starts, finishing second 5 times.Looks bit short in market around 5-4.

SEA MOON will need to improve to win this race group two contest ,though looks open to plenty improvement  over this longer trip .Trainer Sir Michael Stoute has excellent record in race and looks good each-way value at 7-2 against the short price favourite.

The week ahead !!

Another typical Monday with four very average cards at Kempton,Thirsk,Windsor & Yarmouth , good betting opportunities look very thin on the ground, with no possible bets.

The racing gets lot better on Wednesday with the start of the excellent four day Ebor Festival at York ,which I will be attending on the first two days.Wednesday will be very early start travelling the 210 mile journey from Lowestoft to York.

On the first day the feature races being the group one Juddmonte international stakes, group two Great Voltigeur stakes and group three Accomb stakes.

Moving on to the Thursday (Ladies day ) the feature races being the group one Yorkshire Oaks and Group two Lowther stakes.Hopefully there will be some good betting opportunities over the first two days.

Weekly results / round up !!

Been decent start in August with another steady week ,one winner from 2 bets with Bolodenka winning the claiming stakes at Beverley on Wednesday.

Friday's bet on Zomerlust in 7 furlong claiming stakes at Newbury was disappointing only finishing fifth, though I had bad feeling when it started to drift in market going off 11-2 and did touch 7-1 on betfair ,in the race Zomerlust folded very tamely after leading, Can't really complain too much as it still finished up winning week with £149.00 profit .

Sitting out Saturday !!!

Friday's bet on Zomerlust was disappointing  in 7 furlong claiming stakes at Newbury ,after trying to make all the running folded very tamely with 2 furlongs to run finishing well beaten fifth behind impressive winner Woodcote Place.Loss of £280.00 on the day.

On to  Saturday we have five flat cards with Newbury staging the feature card which includes two decent looking group races the 7 furlong Hungerford Stakes group two and 1 mile 5 furlong Geoffrey freer stakes group three.

After going through the five cards there are no suitable betting opportunities on Saturday the racing looks really difficult with plenty competitive races.

The most interesting race looks to be 7 furlong group two Hungerford stakes with Excelebration looking to hold strong claims after finishing third behind Frankel in G1 St James Palace stakes at Royal Ascot  only beaten 2.5 lenghs. At around 2-1 doesn't look fantastic value ,though should take plenty of beating.

Friday, August 12, 2011

Fridays best bets!!

Another busy Friday with six flat cards at Newcastle ,Nottingham ,Newbury & three evening fixtures at Kempton, Newmarket & Catterick .Going concentrate on the 7 furlong claiming stakes at Newbury which looks quite decent claimer.

7F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 5 NEWBURY 2.35
ZOMERLUST :Bounced back to form on his last two starts winning back to back 6 furlong claimers at Hamilton & Ripon ,making all on both occasions .Had some decent form last season in good handicaps ,including winning 7 furlong class 4 handicap at Ayr and finishing close third in class 2 handicap at York in October off mark 86 .

VERDICT : Decent looking 7 furlong claimer with three main contenders ,Woodcote Place ,Zomerlust & Corporal Maddox.

Woodcote Place, in fair form this season  ,finished fair second last time in 7 furlong claimer at Epsom only beaten short head behind Guilded Warrior ,looks fairly treated at weights and should be thereabouts ,though not easiest horse to win with having finished second 14 times.

Corporal Maddox is best in at the weights in this claimer and has contested some good handicaps this season ,including finishing good third in class 3 handicap at Chester off mark 88 .Should go well taking big drop in class and with K.Fallon riding for first time ,though is not most reliable type horse and hasn't won since October 2009.

ZOMERLUST is in top form winning his last two starts and looks to have plenty in his favour.Unbeaten in claiming races 2 from 2 the return to 7 furlongs is no problem having won over the distance three times .Seems to handle any ground conditions and at the prices looks good value at around 4-1.

Good result !!!

Good result on Wednesday with Bolodenka winning claiming stakes at Beverley in great style winning by easy 8 lengths for £429 profit on the day .Bolondeka loved the soft ground and looks sure to win more claimers this season when conditions are testing.

On to Thursday's racing five flat cards with Salisbury again staging the feature race the group 3 Sovereign Stakes over 1 mile run at 4.15 ,this looks quite competitive group race with four or five strong contenders .

Both Premier Loco & Fanunalter look interesting ,Premier Loco disappointed at Epsom on Derby Day ,though had some decent form earlier in season, including finishing excellent third behind Canford Cliffs in group one Lockinge Stakes at Newbury .

Fanunalter has been great form this season winning the group three Diomed stakes on Derby day and finishing excellent second last time behind Dick Turpin in group two summer mile at Ascot .

At around 6-1 looks the fair each-way value having finished ahead of his two market rivals Side Glance & Premier Loco on his last two starts ,though does have to concede 3LB to all his rivals. Not easy to separate the main contenders in competitive race ,so will just be watching brief.

Wednesdays best bets!!

Plenty racing on Wednesday with five flat cards, Salisbury & Beverley stage best two looking cards with the 10 furlong Fillies & Mares listed race at Salisbury the days feature race.

The Luca Cumani trained Seta looks very interesting runner in this listed race having never lost outside group company with 5 wins from 5 starts.5-2 overnight looked very fair price though she is unproven over 10 furlongs and reluctantly she has to be passed over .

The race I'm going concentrate on is 7.5 furlong claiming stakes at Beverley which looks quite interesting race .

7F 100YDS CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 BEVERLEY 2.10
BOLODENKA : Won twice this season in seller and claimer ,though struggled in class 4 handicaps on his last two starts finishing fifth of 10 last time at Beverley .Will be suited returning to claiming company and this drop in class.Soft ground conditions will also suit.

VERDICT : Interesting claiming stakes with very few runners proven on testing ground conditions the three main contenders look to be Opus Maximus ,Bolodenka .Ginger Grey .

Opus Maximus: has been in good form this season winning twice ,including winning seller over C&D back in July has won on good / soft ,should go well if handling these more testing ground conditions.

Ginger Grey :has been running consistently in handicaps this season without winning ,finished good second over C&D in class 5 handicap back in July .Will be suited by this drop in class ,though has to prove he can handle soft ground  .

BOLEDENKA looks to have plenty in his favour returning to claiming company and has proven record on testing ground conditions .With four non runners this morning 11-4 looks fair value.

Quiet start to the week !!!

Another quiet start to the week with not much happening on Monday or Tuesday ,today's racing as usual for Monday looks very low quality with four poor looking cards at Lingfield ,Wolverhampton,Thirsk & Windsor, with no suitable betting opportunity on Monday.

Tuesday's racing looks much the same with three very average flat cards from Ayr,Ffos Las and Nottingham, with once again no suitable betting opportunity .

Wednesdays racing looks lot more promising with couple interesting races from Salisbury & Beverley ,including decent looking 10 furlong fillies and Mares listed race at Salisbury. Hopefully we will be back in action on Wednesday.

Weekly results / round up !!

Nice to start August with good week thanks to Class is Class winning the group 3 Rose Lancaster stakes in good style at Haydock on Saturday. The only other bet on the week was on Friday in 6 furlong selling stakes at Lingfield on Aquasulis finishing close second .

Saturdays best bets !!

Friday's bet on Aquasulis finished second in 6 furlongs selling stakes at Linfield ,very frustrating to get caught near finish by 33-1 long shot Miserere Mei after looking like making all the running .£29.00 loss on the day

Moving quickly on we another very busy Saturday with 6 flat cards,Ascot ,Haydock & Newmarket the three principal meetings .Going concentrate on the days feature race the group 3 Rose of Lancaster stakes at Haydock.

I MILE 2F ROSE OF LANCASTER STAKES G3 HAYDOCK 2.45
CLASS IS CLASS :Good winner of 1 mile 2 furlong listed race at Sandown earlier last month beating Tazeez by easy 4 lenghs .Ran respectable fourth last time in group 2 Sky Bet stakes  behind Twice Over only beaten just over 2 lenghs. Also finished fair second in this race last year behind Poet on soft ground.

VERDICT : Decent looking group three contest with three main contenders Sajjhaa ,Class is Class and Simon De montford

Sajjhaa has been in good form this season winning listed race at York last time , has to be respected though this looks lot tougher race.

Simon De Montford looks the dark horse having won 5 from 7 starts ,and shown some decent form in France & Dubai  ,though was disappointing on his final start at Meydan and hasn't run for over 5 months.

CLASS IS CLASS has been in good form this season and looks very solid .Finished fair second in this race last year on unsuitable soft ground .Will be suited by drying ground conditions and looks good value at around 4-1

Fridays best bets!!

Been very quiet week so far with very few suitable betting opportunities. The racing on Friday looks slightly better with four flat cards at Brighton, Lingfield and two evening fixtures at Haydock & Newmarket.

With plenty rain about over past 24 hours ground conditions will be on soft side and we can expect plenty non runners on Friday especially at Brighton & Haydock .With this in mind I'm going concentrate on little 6 furlong selling stakes at Lingfield  on poly track.

6F 2-Y-0 FILLIES SELLING STAKES CLASS 6 LINGFIELD 3.40
AQUASULIS : Good form in sellers in June finishing second at York and then going on to win 6F selling stakes at Windsor beating Emma Jane by Head .Also finished good third off mark 65 in nursery handicap at Chester earlier last month .Slightly disappointing last time in handicap at Lingfield on turf only finishing fifth ,though should go well returning to selling company.

VERDICT :  Weak looking fillies selling stakes with three main contenders .Red Hearts ,Aquasulis &Emma Jane

Red Hearts, won 5F maiden at Brighton back in April ,though hasn't shown great deal since and was  disappointing last time in seller at Yarmouth finishing only third when favourite. Can't be ruled out in weak race.

Emma Jane, consistent filly and looks closely matched with Aquasulis on there running earlier in season at Windsor beaten head ,though is still maiden after 7 starts .Should be thereabouts again though m

AQUASULIS has decent record in selling races and is the only runner with proven form on poly track, finishing fair second in claimer at Wolverhampton in May.Could have been better drawn than stall 8 ,though looks the one to beat in very weak looking selling stakes.

Poor Poor Quality!!!

Not great deal happening so far this week, in what can only be described as awful racing ,today's racing in  particular at Bath looks terrible ,with no race having more than six runners ,the other three cards at Catterick,Southwell & Ffos Las don't look much better on woeful Tuesday

Wednesday's racing also look's poor with plenty low grade races featuring smallish fields,Hopefully the racing will improve later in the week.
