Monday reflections !!!

Monday's bet on Anjomarba ended up being late non runner which was slightly frustrating as she was quite strong fancy in what looked weak selling stakes .

The race going to 9-4 jt favourite Efistorm who won quite comfortably and seemed to have no problem staying 6 furlongs ,though with the other favourite Dear Maurice running very flat race, Efistorm didn't need to be at his best to win weak seller.

On to Tuesdays racing three flat cards at Brighton , Hamilton & Southwell ,all three cards look very poor quality with no possible betting opportunities on Tuesday. The racing looks much better latter in the week with some decent looking cards at Epsom ,Newbury and Sandown .

Mondays best bets !!!

Four flat cards on Monday at Pontefract,Wolverhampton and two evening fixtures at Windsor and Musselburgh.Pretty average stuff as usual on Monday ,just one race of interest the 6 furlong selling stakes at Windsor

6 FURLONG SELLING STAKES CLASS 6 WINDSOR 7.10
ANJOMARBA : Consistent filly with good strike rate for horse of her ability (10 wins from 39 starts) won six times in 2010 also good winner last time in class 6 handicap at Folkestone of mark 63 .Finished credible second over C&D at Windsor back in early May behind Memphis Blues .Will be suited dropping back into selling company.

VERDICT : Efistorm ,Anjomarba & Dear Maurice look the three to concentrate on in this 6 furlong selling stakes.

Efistorm looks well treated in seller after finishing second on his last two starts in fair 6 furlong claimers, though all his best form has been over 5 furlongs (15 wins)only one win over 6 furlongs and trainer Conor Dore is not in greatest form 1 winner from 40 runners over past two months.Should be thereabouts though not convinced about this trip.2-1 looks no value

Dear Maurice best in on offical handicap ratings, though not won for nearly 3 years , both wins came here at Windsor over 1 mile ,ran some fair races last season in 6 furlong handicaps finishing placed off mark 75. Drops into selling company for first time and looks big danger if fully fit after 7 month lay off.

ANJOMARBA is in good form and has an excellent record in selling races on turf with 5 wins from 8 starts (13331111) .Has plenty in her favour in this selling stakes, 6 furlongs on fast ground are ideal and looks decent value at around 4-1 .

Weekly results / round up !!

It turned out very decent week with 2 winners from three bets for profit of £693 on the week, that makes it three winning weeks in row so far this month.June has seen big improvement in the results with ,4 WINNERS) 5 SECONDS ) 1 UNPLACED ) FROM 10 BETS.Hopefully this will continue in July and August .

The first bet on the week was on the Tuesday at Beverley on PORGY at 11-4 in 1mile 4 furlong claiming stakes this was very easy victory ,always travelling well and coming home very easy 5 lengh winner for profit of £369 on the day .

Second bet was on the Thursday at Leicester in 7 furlong selling stakes on CHILLEDTOTHEBONE at 10-3 ,though finishing second never really threatened the winner and slightly disappointing run ,though not too much damage done with loss of £42.00 on the race.

Final bet of the week was on Friday at Newmarket's evening fixture in 1 mile claiming stakes on CERTRAL ,this was subject to quite big early morning gamble with 7-2 available with Betfred &
3-1 with Bet365 ,Personally I was on at 3-1 though these prices disappeared very quickly before I was able to post on the blog and the bet will be recorded at 5-2.In the race itself CERTRAL was always close to the pace and once getting clear run against the rail won very comfortably by 3 lenghs. For profit of £366 on the race.

Good result on Friday with Certral winning the claiming stakes at Newmarket in great style for £366 profit on the day.

Quite big gamble took place with 7-2 & 3-1 available in morning ,the price quickly disappeared and the price had changed before I was able to post on the blog and the bet will be recorded at 5-2.

On to Saturdays racing very busy day with six meetings up and down the country, though as usual on Saturday the racing looks very competitive and there are no suitable betting opportunities.

Fridays best bets!!

Thursdays bet on Chilledtothebone finished well beaten second in 7 furlong selling stakes at Leicester after being well supported in market 10-3 into 15-8 .The horse looked very difficult ride and K.Fallon did well to finish second in circumstances Loss of £42.00 on the day.

Plenty racing as usual on Friday with five flat cards, though only one race of interest the 1 mile claiming stakes at Newmarket's evening fixture.

1 MILE CLAIMING STAKES 3-Y-0 CLASS 5 NEWMARKET 7.05
CERTRAL : Won twice this season including winning class 5 handicap at Newcastle by 5 lenghs off mark 61 .Won claimer back in April at Windsor over 1 mile 2 furlongs.Slightly disappointing last time when finishing 4th behind Submission at Nottingham ,though that was in class 4 handicap ,drops back into claiming company .

VERDICT : Janet's Pearl ,Central & Malice and Mischief look the three to concentrate on .

Janet's Pearl is very consistent filly finishing second five times ,her only victory came in seller at Musselburgh last season . Not the easiest horse to win with, should be thereabouts though looks no value at 9-4

Malice or Mischief has to concede plenty of weight to his main rivals ,though is proven winner in this grade and will be suited by this faster ground and has to be respected.

CERTRAL looks well treated in this claimer and looks sure to go well with ideal conditions, the  drop in class will also suit . 3-1 looks very fair value.

Thursdays best bets !!

Plenty racing on Thursday with Four flat cards at Newcastle, Warwick and two evening fixtures at Leicester & Hamilton.Going concentrate on evening card at Leicester and the seven furlong selling stakes at 7.40.

7 FURLONG 3-Y-0 SELLING STAKES CLASS 6 LEICESTER 7.40
CHILLEDTOTHEBONE:Good second last time in 7F selling stakes at Redcar behind Frognal, that looked quite decent seller with the winner & fourth both winning next time.Frognal going onto win class 4 handicap at Leicester off mark 74.Had some fair form as 2-Y-0 Winning 6F auction maiden last October on poly track at Kempton.

VERDICT :On paper this looks quite competitive  selling stakes, though quite few these runners have big question marks.

The highest rated runner Orchid Street would take all beating on last years 2-Y-0 form which included finishing placed off marks in high 70's,though has shown nothing on her last 5 starts in handicaps. Drops into selling company for first time.

So is She, has won twice over 7 furlongs and is very consistent filly ,though all her best form has been on fibresand at Southwell,

Eternal Youth is very consistent in this grade ,though all his best form has been over 6 furlongs and has question mark over this longer trip.

CHILLEDTOTHEBONE, has best recent form the second last time at Redcar looks very solid selling form .Conditions look ideal 7 furlongs on good ground. K.Fallon also looks an eye catching jockey booking for selling stakes having won on horse last season at Kempton .

Good start to the week !!!

Good start to the week with Porgy early price 11-4 winning 1 mile 4 furlong claiming stakes at Beverley in good style and totally outclassing the opposition winning by easy 5 lenghs for £369 profit on the day.

The new staking plan seems to be working quite well with 5% of the betting bank being staked on each bet .Long term this staking method should make far greater profits than level stakes ,though its still early days and time will tell how profitable this staking method will be.

On to Wednesdays racing four flat cards at Carlisle ,Salisbury and two evening fixtures at Bath & Kempton .After going through the four cards there are no suitable betting opportunities on Wednesday .

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Tuesdays best bets !!

Three average flat cards on Tuesday at Brighton, Beverley and evening fixture at Newbury. No real interest at either Brighton or Newbury, though there does look quite interesting 1 mile 4 furlong claiming stakes at Beverley .

1MILE 4F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 BEVERLEY 2.45
PORGY :Inconsistent 6-Y-0 gelding who is not always most straight forward, though has plenty of ability and has won twice this year, including an impressive winner of 1mile 4f class 4 handicap at Goodwood earlier this month beating Classic Vintage by 3.25 lenghs off mark 79 .Finished fair fourth last time in 1 mile 4f class 3 handicap at Haydock off mark 85 .

VERDICT :Interesting little claimer with only Palamar ,Porgy & Hels Angel having any serious chance at these weights .

Strictly on BHA handicap ratings Palamar is the one to beat after winning 2 mile handicap off mark 85 last October at Musselburgh and ran very respectable 7th of 19 last week at Royal Ascot in Ascot Stakes over 2 mile 4f ,though all his best for has been over 2 miles and the drop back to 1mile 4f may not suit and looks too short in market at around 6-4.

Hels Angel looks fairly treated at these weights and won claimer at Catterick in early May ,though was very disappointing last time in handicap at Catterick ,needs bounce back though can't be totally dismissed.

PORGY  has to concede weight all round ,though is proven over the distance and handles any ground ,takes massive drop in class into  class 6 claimer and was an easy winner at York last July the only other time he ran in claimer.Looks sure to go well with ideal conditions 11-4 looks decent value.

Weekly results / round up !!

Some fantastic racing this past week at Royal Ascot and quite satisfied to come out with smallish profit in the end.

The first bet was on Tuesday in group one St James Palace stakes on  Excelebration in  market W/O frankel ran fair enough race finishing second in that market at 3-1. Loss of £45.00 on the race

Second bet was on the Wednesday in group three Jersey Stakes on Codemaster at 3-1 again this one finished second, beaten 1/2 lengh behind Strong Suit. Loss on the race £45.00

Third bet on the Thursday was in group two Ribbesdale stakes on Rumh at 4-1 ,this was very disappointing running no kind race and looked unsuited by soft ground conditions finishing well beaten  6TH   .Loss on the race £222

Final bet of the week was on the Friday in group two King Edward VII stakes on Nathaniel at 11-4 ,the soft ground was perfect for Nathaniel who won very impressively by 5 Lenghs .Profit on the race £385.

Quite happy to come out of Royal Ascot with small profit of £73.00 ,especially being £312 down going into Friday .These big meetings are never easy to come out with profit, so quite satisfied how the week has finished.

nathaniel powers to victory !!!

Nice to finally have winner at Royal Ascot with Nathaniel winning the group two King Edward VII stakes in great style .

Nathaniel relishing the soft conditions went on to win by easy 5 lenghs and now looks well on target for St Leger at Doncaster on September 10th .

On to day 5 at Royal Ascot with ground conditions already testing and more rain forecast on Saturday it could turn into real slog .The final day at Royal Ascot looks very difficult and after going through the six races, I can't find anything that makes strong appeal and Saturday will just be watching brief.

Royal Ascot Best Bets Day Four !!!

Thursdays bet on Rumh was disappointing in group two Ribbledale stakes and appeared not to stay 1 mile 4 furlongs in testing ground ,after travelling OK in early part of the race, seem to stop very quickly two furlongs out finishing well beaten 6TH behind the Jim Bolger trained Banimpire.

To be honest I wasn't expecting ground conditions to change so drastically ,though in hindsight placing the bet the night before was probably mistake with plenty rain forecast.Loss on the day £222 .

On to Royal Ascot day four, ground conditions are going to be even more testing on Friday with more heavy showers forecast . With this in mind I'm Going concentrate on the group two 1 mile 4 furlong King Edward VII stakes at 3.05

1 MILE 4F KING EDWARD VII STAKES GROUP 2 ASCOT 3.05
NATHANIEL :Ran excellent second last time in group 3 Chester Vase only beaten head behind Subsequent Epsom Derby runner up Treasure Beach ,appeared unsuited by the tight track that day and did well to finish so close. Will be much better suited to this more galloping track with ground conditions ideal .

VERDICT : NATHANIEL a late withdrawal from Epsom Derby when conditions were considered too fast, should relish these soft ground conditions at Ascot on Friday ,the form of  his second in Chester Vase looks very strong and looks the one to beat in this group two contest.11-4 looks very fair price. The two main dangers look to be Glens Choice and Mijhaar both improving types who have to be respected.

Royal Ascot Best Bets Day Three !!!

Wednesday's bet on Codemaster was once again another second, making it five bets in June one winner and four seconds , bit frustrating when nearly every bet seems to be finishing second at minute.

Codemaster was well supported in market going off the 7-4 favourite ,though closing at the finish never really looked like catching the Richard Hannon trained Strong Suit who got first run and held on to win by half lengh .

With the earlier withdrawal of Fury there was also 20p in £ deduction making it loss of £45.00 on the race.

On to day three at Royal Ascot the racing on Thursday looks very competitive with some very big fields .The feature race the Ascot Gold Cup looks quite tricky race with plenty question marks about most of the runners in the race, favourite Fame and Glory looks very short in market for horse who is unproven over this marathan trip ,though after studying the race for some time couldn't really come up with solid selection against the favourite.

Going concentrate on the second race on the card the group two Ribbersdale Stakes over 1mile 4 furlongs for 3-Y-0 fillies.

1MILE 4F RIBBESDALE STAKES GROUP THREE 3-Y-0 FILLIES 3.05
RUMH : Fast improving filly since stepping up in trip this season ,finished good third on her seasonal reappearance in the Swettenham Stud stakes at Newbury in April behind Izzi Top and Dancing Rain beaten just over 3 lenghs that form has been well and truly boosted with Dancing Rain and Izzi Top finishing 1st and 3rd in Oaks at Epsom .Followed that with an impressive 6 lengh win in Ballymcall Stud listed stakes at Newbury last week .

VERDICT : Both Banimpire and Rumh look two decent fillies .Banimpire has to rate as big danger after already winning 4 times this season including winning three group 3 races .Was impressive 3 lengh winner 4 days ago in group 3 contest at Cork over 1 mile 4f .Slightly surprising she's making such quick reappearance ,though looks very tough filly and looks sure to well.

RUMH takes step up in class from listed company ,though looked very impressive last time at Newbury and should be suited by this step up in trip, the stable has won the race for last two years. 4-1 looks fair value.

Royal Ascot Best Bets Day Two !!!

Tuesdays bet on Excelebration finished second in market W/O Frankel behind the AP O 'Brien trained Zoffany .No real complaints ran decent enough race, though in the end was soundly beaten by Zoffany who ran excellent race to finish only 3/4 lengh behind Frankel.Loss £45.00 on the day.

On to Day two at Royal Ascot ,going concentrate on first race on the card the Group three Jersey Stakes over 7 furlongs.

JERSEY STAKES (GROUP 3)  3-Y-0 ASCOT 2.30
CODEMASTER :Impressive winner last time beating I Love Me by easy 2 lenghs in King Charles II listed stakes at Newmarket breaking the 7 furlong course record .Also had some decent form as 2 year old  winning decent maiden at Newmarket by 6 lenghs and finishing good second in the Redcar 2 year old trophy.Looks open to plenty impovement after only four starts.

VERDICT : Fury & Havane Smoker look the two main dangers. The French trained Havane Smoker ran good second in French 2000 guineas last time behind Tin Man beaten 2 lenghs and will be suited by drop  back to 7 furlongs.

Fury unbeaten as 2 year old winning both starts, finished fair fifth in 2000 guineas at Newmarket behind Frankel .Ran decent second last time in 1 mile listed race at Sandown only beaten nose by Sir Michael Stoute trained Tazhum .

CODEMASTER looked impressive last time on his reappearence in listed race at Newmarket beating useful I Love Me in very quick time.Shown improvement with every race and looks the one to beat in this group three contest.

Royal Ascot Best Bets Day One !!!

Tuesday see's the start of five fantastic days racing at Royal Ascot with the three feature races on day one being Queen Anne stakes,King Stand Stakes and St James Palace stakes at 3.45

Going concentrate on just one race, Group one St James Palace stakes over 1 mile Where the 2-5 favourite Frankel cannot be opposed after destroying the field in 2000 guineas at Newmarket last month. The market I'm interested in here is betting W/O Frankel which most bookmakers have priced up .

ST JAMES PALACE STAKES BETTING W/O FRANKEL 3.45 ASCOT
EXCELEBRATION :Improving sort finished credible second behind Frankel in Greenham at Newbury in April beaten 4 lenghs on fast ground .Followed that with impressive 7 lengh win in German 2000 guineas in Cologne on soft ground.Open to plenty improvement and proven over 1 mile on easy ground

VERDICT : Interesting betting race in W/O Frankel market which looks to concern just four horses.Wootton Bassett ,Excelebration ,Dream Ahead and Dubawi Gold .

Wootton Bassett high class 2 year old winning 5 times including group one Grand Criterium at Longchamp in October.Could only manage disappointing fifth in French guineas in May after probably going off too fast .Still big question mark about him staying a mile in this company.

Dream Ahead joint top rated 2 year old after winning the group one Middle Park at Newmarket by nine lenghs on soft ground .Disappointed in Dewhurst behind Frankel  in October finishing well beaten fifth .Not ran this season and all three wins have been over 6 furlongs, looks very doubtful stayer over 1 mile.

Dubawi Gold shown big improvement since switching stables to Richard Hannon ,won two listed contests over 1 mile at Lingfield in spring ,went on to finish good second in both English & Irish 2000 guineas .

EXCELEBRATION looks to be improving with every race and did give Frankel some kind race in Greenham  has proven form over 1 mile on easy ground .3-1 looks fair value with big question marks about both Dream Ahead and Wootton Bassett over this trip.Dubawi Gold looks the main danger after finishing second in two classics over 1 mile.

Saturdays best bets !!

Plenty of racing on Saturday with six flat cards York and Sandown are the two main meetings ,though both cards look very difficult with some ultra competitive big field handicaps .Going concentrate on a race that doesn't look too competitive the 7 furlong claiming stakes at Chester

7F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 4 CHESTER 4.30
KINGSWINFORD : Consistent 5-Y-0 who has decent record in claimers winning 2 from 4 ( 3121) Been in fair form for David Evans this season finishing placed three times ,including finishing third over 6 furlongs off mark 74 in handicap at Chester in May .Finished second last time in decent looking seller at Leicester over 6 Furlongs behind Cootehill Lass, was subsequently claimed by Brian Ellison for £7000.

VERDICT : At the weights this looks to concern four horses GetCarter ,Bilko Pak ,Kingswinford & Dream Catcher .

The Richard Hannon trained GetCarter should go well from stall one after finishing good second last time behind Call Collect at Salisbury off mark 70 ,though the not most consistent of horses and hasn't won for over 14 months.

Dream Catcher won 6f class 4 handicap at Thirsk in May off mark 75 and looks well treated at these weights ,though all his best form is over 5 & 6 furlongs and there has to be doubts about him staying 7 furlongs.

Bilko Pak had some decent form for Richard Hannon last season winning 4 times ,though has since changed stables twice, showing next to nothing for James Given in two races. Changed hands cheaply for £1600 at Doncaster sales in April and now runs first time for Anne Duffield .

KINGSWINFORD looks interesting having his first run for Brian Ellision after changing hands for £7000 .Been running consistently this season and has good record in claiming races. The return to 7 furlongs will also suit .With question marks about most of his main rivals looks fair value at around 9-2 mark.

Another second !!!

Thursdays bet on Imperial Pippin finished second in fillies listed race at Newbury behind the impressive 6 lengh winner Rumh.No real excuses just beaten by useful filly.

The form of that Swettenham stud stakes at Haydock that Rumh finished third  looks red hot with the second Dancing Rain winning the Epsom Oaks  and the winner Izzi Top finishing third in Oaks. All three look very decent fillies.

Very frustrating with the bets at moment with so many seconds and thirds ,most of the bets seem to be running OK though just not winning ,hopefully there will be change of luck soon.

Plenty racing on Friday with four flat cards York ,Sandown ,Goodwood & Chepstow. The racing looks very competitive on Friday and not easy to find any suitable betting opportunities and will just be watching brief .

Some decent racing on Thursday with four flat cards. Newbury stage the main meeting featuring some interesting maiden races and decent looking 3 year old fillies listed race at 3.05

IMPERIAL PIPPIN : Good winner on debut in decent looking fillies maiden over C&D at Newbury. That looked decent form with second Caraboss winning next time by 6 lenghs at Newcastle and fourth horse Creme Anglaise also boosting the form winning fair maiden at Ascot .She followed that run with good third in listed race at Goodwood behind useful Beatrice Aurore.Looks sure to win more races this season.

VERDICT : Interesting 3-Y-0 fillies listed race with both Rumh and Imperial Pippin having already shown smart form in listed races .IMPERIAL PIPPIN looks open to plenty improvement after only two starts and will be suited by the return to course & distance. Rumh looks the main danger after finishing good third last time in Swettinham Stud stakes at Haydock.

6F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 HAMILTON 2.40
PRINCE OF VASA : Former Mark Johnston trained gelding ,has struggled in handicaps since finishing second in class 4 handicap last August off mark 79 .Ran decent second in claimer at Redcar in early May behind  three time claiming winner Thrust Control, only just getting caught close home .

VERDICT : Dark Lane ,Prince of Vasa & Carries Magic look closely matched at these weights .Dark Lane has looked disappointing since winning handicap at Windsor in early April, including in claimer last time when finishing behind Prince of Vasa now wears blinkers first time, makes limited appeal at  7-4 after three disappointing runs.

Carries Magic is consistent filly finishing placed three times this season in fillies handicaps and should go well for in form David Barron stable.

PRINCE OF VASA ran well in claimer at Redcar earlier last month and should go well returning to claiming company.4-1 looks fair value in what looks weak looking claimer .Carries Magic is the most consistent runner in the race and looks the main danger.
