Tuesdays best bets

We have an extra flat card on Tuesday at Southwell after they abandoned there jumps card due to snow and frost, though to be honest this looks very poor quality 6 race card with hardly any runners and nothing of interest there.Going concentrate on the one race at Lingfield 5F claiming stakes at 1.15.

5F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 LINGFIELD 1.15

LEWYN :Won three times earlier in season at Wolverhampton, returned to form last time finishing good 4TH in decent class 3 handicap at Wolverhampton behind Whoezthecat beaten 2 lenghs, that looks solid form with the 5TH horse Piscean boosting the form by winning handicap next time.Drops into claiming company for first time and Jamie Spencer looks interesting Jockey
booking.

VERDICT : Matsunosuke looks big danger after winning two claimers at Wolverhampton ,and finishing good 4TH at Lingfield in class 2 handicap of mark 105, will be hard to beat at these weights.though looks no value at around 6-5 mark.LEWYN still only 3 year old looks open to plenty improvement back on polytack( 4 wins from 10 starts )and looks solid each-way bet dropping into claimer for first time.

Snow bound Monday !!

Just the one flat card on Monday Wolverhampton stage 8 race card though they face 11.00 am inspection to see if racing can go ahead, even by Monday standards this looks very poor quality card with no possible bets.

Sunday, November 28, 2010

Summary of weeks bets

Saturdays bet Orchid Supreme could only manage second behind the heavily gambled on odds on favourite Majuro who backed from 4-5 into 2-7 and won very easily by 10 lenghs.

Orchid Supreme was very big drifter 2-1 out to 9-2 and never looked like finishing better than second, though no real damage done with each-way bet,and with best odds guarantee at 9-2.
LOSS - £10.00 / 0.10 PTS

The cold snap continues to play havoc with the racing, just one card surviving on Sunday at Kempton on polytrack ,just an average 8 race card and nothing of interest there.

Overall its been fairly decent week with £190 / 1.90 pts profit
(1 winner , 1 second ,1 unplaced from 3 bets)

The only real disappointment on the week was Samarinda in 7F claiming stakes on Wednesday who ran no kind of race folding very quickly after trying to make all ,not sure what happened there but for some reason never ran his race finishing very disappointing 6TH.

THE RESULTS :

Saturdays best bets

Good result on Friday with WHAT ABOUT YOU making all and winning easily by 5 lenghs ,very well supported in market 10-3 available with Stan James backed into 9-4.Nice profit on the day £400 / 4.00 PTS .

It turned out great day for Richard Fahey who landed 203-1 across the card treble, and his stable continues to be in great form.

Saturday we have two AW cards and Kempton stage very decent card, featuring two decent listed contests and  interestingly we see the return of NADEEB  who was winning selection last Saturday at Lingfield ,reluctantly I will have to pass him over on this occasion, as he is unproven over the distance 1 mile 4 furlongs  ,though he will take plenty beating if he does stay this extra 2 furlongs. The other listed contest looks very tricky race with 4 or 5 with decent chance.

Wolverhampton looks the worst meeting in terms of quality, though there does look quite interesting 1 mile selling stakes at 7.20 and hopefully the meeting will get the go ahead.

1 MILE SELLING STAKES CLASS 6 WOLVERHAMPTON 7.20

ORCHID SUPREME :Former Richard Hannon trained 7-Y-0 ,claimed for £10,000 by John Akehurst after finishing 2ND in claimer at Lingfield ,has been running consistently well this season in claimers finishing 2ND three times, and did win class 2 handicap at Wolverhampton of mark 86 back in March.Drops into seller for first time and should go well.

VERDICT : This looks straight match between ORCHID SUPREME & MAJURO Strictly at the weights MAJURO is the one beat being 11lb clear ,though there look question marks about MAJURO having gone over 2 years since his last win and only one win in his last 34 races and looks no value at around 4-5 mark.ORCHID SUPREME looks the percentage call here proven record at track and is very consistent performer .At around 9-4 looks very low risk each-way bet.

Fridays best bets

Weather conditions look pretty grim over the next 10 days ,with heavy snow forecast all over the country, looks like plenty meetings will be lost over next few days, though shouldn't effect AW flat racing too much and we have two meetings on Friday at Lingfield and Wolverhampton.

Not great deal of quality on offer at either card, though there does look quite interesting maiden auction stakes   Wolerhampton 5.00

6F MAIDEN AUCTION STAKES CLASS 6 WOLVERHAMPTON 5.00

WHAT ABOUT YOU : Promising 4TH last time over C/D only beaten 1/2 lengh behind the Michael Jarvis trained Indian Emperor, looked bit unlucky there not getting any room near the rail ,looks open to plenty improvement after only two starts.Steve Drowne looks interesting jockey booking for trainer Richard  Fahey (1 out 2 ) over last 5 seasons.

VERDICT :ITS YOU AGAIN & WHAT ABOUT YOU look the two concentrate on here. ITS YOU AGAIN  ran good 2ND last time over C/D  in handicap of mark 75 ,finishing 2ND for the third time and looks big danger, though looks very short price at 6-5 for horse still maiden after 6 starts. At the prices WHAT ABOUT YOU looks the better value bet at around 3-1.

Wednesdays best bets

Two average flat cards on Wednesday at Kempton & Lingfield ,with just one race of interest at Lingfield the 7 furlong claimer looks quite interesting race.

7F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 LINGFIELD 1.00

SAMARINDA : 4 times course winner ,won twice this season both in claimers including over C/D  back in May beating Orchid Supreme ,fair 5TH in class 4 handicap at Kempton last time ,the return to class 6 claiming company will suit and looks well drawn in stall 4 for front runner.

VERDICT: EVERYMANFORHIMSELF looks the main danger ,not shown great deal in handicaps on turf this season though did win class 3 conditions race over C/D back in February and now takes big drop in class.SAMARINDA looks more solid with plenty in his favour here C/D winner and decent record in claimers 2 from 3 ,goes particularly well for Micky Fenton who has won on him  8 times.

Blank Tuesday

Just the one flat meeting on Tuesday at Southwell ,this looks very poor 8 race card even by Southwell standards with biggest race only worth £2115 to the winner. Why owners & trainers bother to race for such small amounts is hard to understand ,though in the current climate I guess things are only going to get worse.

Wednesdays racing looks more promising with two flat cards at Lingfield and Kempton and I will be working on these cards later today.

Monday, November 22, 2010

Quiet start !!

Looks like very quiet start to the week with no flat racing on Monday and very poor card at Southwell on Tuesday. The racing gets better towards the end of the week. With the winter racing on all weather there are plenty days with no possible betting opportunities, just got stay patient and wait for right races to come along.

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Summary of weeks bets

Good finish to the week with NADEEB winning at 7-2 in the 1 mile 2 furlong listed race at Lingfield ,the first bet IVAN'S A STAR in the 1 mile selling stakes finished 2ND at 11-4.

Nideeb is fast improving 3-Y-0 for Clive Brittain, looks sure to win more races this winter, and is well on target for next years winter derby at Lingfield .

After frustrating run of results over the past two weeks, its good to finally have decent day with £375 - 3.75 pts profit on the day.

THE RESULTS :

ON THE WEEK
4 BETS ) 1 WINNER) PROFIT £175.00 / + 1.75 PTS)

Saturdays best bets

Fridays bet PHASE SHIFT was subject too big gamble after being available at 5-1 in the morning, had strong support all day going off 5-2 chance, the race itself was run in very thick fog and it was difficult to see anything till inside final furlong, PHASE SHIFT ran ok ,though she could only manage 3RD place behind 14-1 outsider Islesman, at least it was not losing race with money back.

Saturday two flat cards, going concentrate on Lingfield which stage quite decent meeting including two good listed races and we have two bets.

1 MILE SELLING STAKES CLASS 6 LINGFIELD 1.25

IVAN'S A STAR : Consistent sort, finishing 2ND on his last two starts ,only just touched off in seller over 7f  at Southwell on Tuesday ,also finished good 2ND in handicap at Kempton over 8f behind REE'S RASCAL winner again since, should go well in very weak race.

VERDICT :SIR LUNCHALOT has shown the best form here ,winning twice this season ,though all his form is over shorter distances and has major stamina doubts.Stablemate IVAN'S A STAR is in good form and with proven stamina at 8f  looks the better value at around 3-1.

1MILE 2F LISTED STAKES CLASS 1 LINGFIELD 3.05

NIDEEB : Impressive 7 lengh winner last time in condition race at Kempton over 1 mile 2f beating Chock a block in fast time ,also finished fair third behind Timepiece in listed race at Newmarket at end last month,Looks improving 3-Y-0 & should go well.

VERDICT : SUMMIT SURGE is the class horse here after winning G2 race at York in July and finishing fair 5TH in G1 Arlington million in U.S.A ,though doesn't face easy task here trying concede 10LB to NIDEEB & all his best form has been on turf, only (1 from 6 on polytrack).NIDEEB looks open to plenty improvement and getting 10LB looks the value bet.

Fridays best bets

Not had great run of results over past couple weeks, though still nicely in profit over the season, that's hope for change luck over the weekend.

Friday just the one flat card at Wolverhampton on the polytrack  ,not the greatest quality card though couple interesting races.

7F MAIDEN AUCTION STAKES CLASS 6 WOLVERHAMPTON 5.15

PHASE SHIFT : Promising run last time here at Wolverhampton ,finishing 3RD in fair maiden behind Mattoral  beaten under lengh ,that looks solid form with winner being rated 81, this looks weaker maiden and drop back to 7F shouldn't be problem.

VERDICT :UNEX GOYA looks the main danger after finishing promising 3RD on debut at Yarmouth on soft ground over 6F ,has since left the W.Haggas stable which is slight surprise after just one race, and has prove himself on polytrack.PHASE SHIFT sets good standard here with proven form at Wolverhampton and looks the one to beat getting 7LB from UNEX GOYA .

Bad luck !!

Sometimes luck plays big part in this game, when you are on poor run luck always seem to desert you.On Wednesday IVER BRIDGE LAD looked very unlucky, after rearing up at the start was soon behind in last place, in slowly run race took little time pick up ,once in clear ran on well inside final furlong and finished strongly only beaten 2 Lenghs in 4TH.

Dream Eater  was given excellent ride by Jimmy fortune coming with well timed run on outside to lead near the line, though I think IVER BRIDGE LAD would gone very close had he not reared up at start.
Loss £200 - 2.00 pts. Back to the drawing board as they say.

Thursday just the one flat card at Wolverhampton and quite poor quality card and no interest there ,just need a change luck sometime soon.

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Wednesdays best bets

Wednesday we have two flat cards at Lingfield & Kempton ,the racing so far this week has been extremely poor ,though on Wednesday the racing looks better. Kempton stage very decent 7 furlongs conditions race at 7.10

7F CONDITIONS RACE CLASS 3 KEMPTON 7.10

IVER BRIDGE LAD :Decent 2-Y-0 last season winning twice including listed race at Sandown , hasn't won this season though has some smart efforts including finishing 4TH in G3 contest at Ascot last month, ran another good race last time in class 2 handicap at Doncaster finishing very close 4TH only beaten 0.50 lengh off mark 105.Ran on polytrack twice here at Kempton winning maiden and finishing 2ND in G3.

VERDICT :On BHA ratings DREAM EATER is clearly the one to beat(8LB CLEAR)and taking big drop in class , has ran some excellent races this season including finishing 3RD in Queen Anne stakes at Royal Ascot behind the great GOLDIKOVA,though for all his good runs  he is very difficult horse to win with only winning twice in 27 starts and at around 13-8 looks no value.

At the prices IVER BRIDGE looks solid each-way value , after running several decent races this season and has proven form on polytrack at Kempton. With three firms pricing this race up overnight 6-1 looks well worth taking with BET365 & HILLS both best odds guarantee.

Summary of the weeks bets

Very poor  week with no winners from 4 bets and loss  £480 - 4.80 pts ,Saturdays each-way double bet summed up the week GREEN EARTH heavily backed 2-1 into 11-8,though ran no kind of race weakening to finish well beaten 6TH.All four bets were heavily supported in the market though never really performed and most disappointing week.

Not great start in November with two losing weeks in row ,hopefully we can bounce back next week!!

Friday's summary and Saturdays best bets

 FRIDAYS SUMMARY  :

Bitterly disappointing performance from SECOND ENCORE who could only manage 6TH place in 5 furlong claiming stakes ,well supported in market 3-1 into 9-4 ,though after racing in second place was soon in trouble and looked well beaten at half-way.Not sure what happened there but SECOND ENCORE  ran no kind of race.

Bit of strange result with 22-1 outsider LADY PRODEE  coming from last to first and winning in four way photo finish.LOSS £200.00 - 2.00 PTS

Its been bit of sticky patch over the last two weeks and six bets without winner, though its been poor run of results, I'm not that concerned these losing runs will always happen over the course of the season. The main goal as always long term profits.

On to Saturday we have two flat cards on the poly track at Lingfield and evening card at Wolverhampton. There's couple interesting races and again I will be going for each-way double bet.

1 MILE CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 6 LINGFIELD 12.30

GREEN EARTH :In good form in recent weeks finishing second twice here at Lingfield and winning  1 Mile claimer at Kempton  beating Pastello by 1 lengh.Appeared not too quite get home last time when finishing second over 1 Mile 2f here last time. The return to 1 Mile will suit and should go well.

1 MILE 1F 103YDS MAIDEN STAKES CLASS 5 WOLVERHAMPTON 8.50

HALFSIN : Two highly promising runs in decent maidens at kempton & Newmarket finishing second both times over 1 mile ,slightly disappointing last time when only third at Nottingham ,though appeared unsuited by very soft ground. The return to poly track and step up in trip will suit better and should go well for back to form Marco Botti .

 SUMMARY  OF THURSDAYS BET  :

No excuses for IMPREMIS TAGULA who was beaten fair and square by MATSUNOSUKE who always travelled like the winner and won easily by 1.25 lenghs ,the only surprise was the big drift in betting MATSUNOSUKE going off very big price at 3-1,double his early morning price.IMPREMIS TAGULA went off 11-4 jt fav, battled on to snatch 2ND on the line .LOSS £40.00 - 0.40 PTS

Friday we have two flat cards Lingfield & Wolverhampton ,again we go to Wolverhampton for the day's only bet in 5 furlong 2-Y-0 claimer at 4.50

SECOND ENCORE : Won two races over 5 furlongs this season, including over C/D winning seller last month ,fair third last time at Kempton in claimer over 5 furlongs, behind a fair sort Chevise beaten under lengh when trying to make all.Looks well weighted in this claimer off 8 STONE 1LB.

VERDICT : JOHNNY HANCOCKS tough 2 year old, having his 20TH race of the season, looks the main danger ,takes drop in class here and has to be respected ,though looks plenty short enough for horse only won twice from 20 starts.SECOND ENCORE has fair record over 5 furlongs, 2 wins from 6 starts and looks decent value around 11-4 / 3-1 mark.

VERDICT :MATSUNOSUKE looks very well treated in this claimer ,and looks the obvious danger, though only just scrapped home last time in weaker claimer and looks plenty short enough at around 6-4.At the prices IMPRIMIS TAGULA looks solid each-way bet at around 3-1 taking big drop in class.

Strange day at Wolverhampton !!

Mondays each-way double bet both finished placed 2ND &3RD ( LOSS -£40.00 / 0.40 PTS) though that didn't tell the whole story the first leg of double BILKO PAK was heavily backed 8-11 into 8-13 and travelled well in third place and looked the likely winner when leading at furlong pole though clearly didn't stay 7 furlongs finding very little inside final 50yds and got caught near finish by MY LORD.

The second leg of the double MISS KINGWOOD was big gamble 2-1 into 10-11,though ran very very strange race ,everything seemed fine to start with when leading for first half mile, though all of sudden started to hang badly right on the bends and Jockey Hayley Turner had an impossible job steering the horse and was losing so much ground going wide on bends ,though once in straight ran on well again and did manage to finish third.

In the end quite happy to come out only losing £40.00 / 0.40 PTS on a day where not much went right.Hopefully things will improve over all weather season.

Tuesday we have no all weather flat racing in UK, so tomorrow will be blank day.

Mondays best bets

After all the excitement of the breeders cup over the Weekend ,its back to bread- and- butter racing on Monday.Just Wolverhampton on flat to work with, though there does look couple interesting races.

BILKO PAK :Won 3 times this season including here at Wolverhampton in claimer over 6F in September beating reliable sort Hortensia by 1.25 lenghs giving that rival 6LB ,on breeding should be well suited by the step up to 7F .Looks well treated at the weights.

1 MILE 4F MAIDEN STAKES CLASS 6 WOLVERHAMPTON 4.15

MISS KINGWOOD :Ran promising third in maiden at Kempton over 1 Mile 4F ,behind Wulfrida staying on well at finish ,though was very disappointing last time on turf at Nottingham over 1 Mile 2F finishing well beaten 12th of 16.The return back to 1 Mile 4F on poly track look sure to suit and should go well in this very weak class 6 maiden race .

Summary of the weeks bets

It turned out very quiet week with just the one bet on the Thursday VICTORIAN BOUNTY finishing unplaced and loss of £200 - 2.00 points on the week. Not great week to finish the flat turf season, though it was just one them  weeks, very difficult to find any quality bets.

Moving on I have made the decision this winter to concentrate on AW flat racing and completely ignore the National hunt racing ,though I enjoy the jumps racing its not been that profitable over past two seasons and it seems good time to specialize on the one code.

Breeders cup day !!

Breeders cup day with 8 fantastic races, all American eyes will be on ZENYATTA in the classic trying to make it 20 out 20 and should be fantastic race.

The French mare Goldikova is also trying to make history winning three breeders cup miles, and should take plenty beating though no real value at around 6-4.

The French colt BEHKABAD looked decent value bet earlier in the day at around 11-4 in breeders cup turf ,though with the withdrawal of WORKFORCE this has completely messed up the race with BEHKABAD now only half the odds at around 11-8. my intended bet has unfortunately had to be shelved. So its just watching brief on this years breeders cup with no other stand out bets.

Two flat cards on Thursday both on the poly track at Lingfield & Kempton After very quiet start to the month, we finally have some action with bet in 6 furlong claiming stakes at Kempton.

VICTORIAN BOUNTY :Speedy front runner, bounced back to form on his last two starts after going 19 races & over 2 years since his last win.Finished close 2ND in claimer at Windsor and then won class 5 handicap at Wolverhampton on Saturday (making all ).Looks well drawn for front runner in stall 8 and goes well for Micky Fenton.

VERDICT :DINGAAN looks well weighted in this claimer with Richard Hughes riding for first time ,looks  the big danger, though the drop back to 6f not sure to suit (No win at 6f  for 3 years) and looks plenty short enough in market at around 6-4 mark. VICTORIAN BOUNTY has run well on his last two starts and looks to have plenty in his favour here, looks well drawn & should make bold bid from front.

Another blank day

Again its another blank day on Wednesday ,Nottingham looks very difficult, the going will be very testing with heavy ground and racing there looks so competitive.Kempton's card looks slightly better in terms of quality which includes a decent 1 mile 4f listed race,2009 ST LEGER winner MASTERY looks to hold very strong claims though looks no value at around 4-5 mark. The other races on the card look very tricky with no real stand out bets,so will just have to stay patient and wait for right opportunities to come along.
