Fridays best bets

Just not happening at minute again another frustrating day with AGE OF AQUARIUS having to be pulled up after suffering a serious leg injury ,hopefully the horse will be okay, though it looks doubtful if he will race again.

POLLY'S MARK ran her usual game race though could never quite get to 16-1 shot Eastern Aria ,4pt loss on the day.

Day four of Glorious Goodwood ,some good luck for once would be nice. The feature races being Tote sport mile & three decent group races .including the Group two Richmond stakes

Thursdays best bets

Not great day on Wednesday at Goodwood 4.50 pts loss, CROWN PROSECUTOR lost all chance after 2 furlongs after being chopped of on the bend and nearly brought down .

No complaints with RIP VAN WINKLE ran good race in second and looked the likely winner 1 furlong out traded 1-8 in running on betfair ,though was unable to concede 8LB to CANFORD CLIFFS who won shade cleverly in the end.THEBES had no excuses simply not good enough on the day.

On to day three at Glorious Goodwood ,the group two 5F King George stakes & 2 mile Goodwood cup being the feature races.

14F FILLIES&MARES GROUP 3 GOODWOOD 4.00

POLLY'S MARK :Consistent filly ran well on all three starts this season ,Good second last time in G2 Lancashire Oaks behind Barshiba only beaten 3/4 lengh staying on strongly  ,had German G1 winner Lady Jane Digby behind in third ,step up in trip will suit ,big chance

FLYING CLOUD looks big danger if she stay's 1M 6F(stays 1M 4F) ,ran excellent second in G1 Pretty Polly stakes last time at Curragh behind Chinese White over 1M 2F .

16F GOODWOOD CUP GROUP 2 GOODWOOD 3.25

AGE OF AQUARIOUS: Excellent second in G1 Ascot Gold cup last time only beaten neck by Rite of Passage, also finished very creditable second to King George winner Harbinger earlier in season, should take plenty beating in this lesser grade.

Tuesday's best bets

The start of Glorious Goodwood five day meeting , we have three group races on day one, with the feature race being the 7 furlong group two Betfair cup at 3.25, won last year by Finjaan.

Day one at Goodwood looks very difficult with some very competitive racing, most races looking very wide open. just going concentrate on the one race the group three Gordon Stakes at 2.45.

12F BETFAIR GORDON STAKES G3 GOODWOOD 2.45

ARCTIC COSMOS:Excellent second last time at Royal Ascot in G2 King Edward V11 stakes behind Monterosso, had German Derby winner Buzzword 2.5 lenghs back in third, shown improved form with every race, and has some big race entries in Great Voltigeur & St Leger ,should go well in this G3 contest.

DANDINO, looks the main danger after winning his last four races and still looked to be improving when winning decent handicap at Royal Ascot last time entered in St Leger

Hopefully I have turned the corner after dreadful run of results ,up to Friday evening it had been 19 losers in row over past three weeks ,it seemed every think possible was going wrong.

On Saturday was just so relieved to have finally broken the losing sequence with 7-2 winner and then followed by another 2-1 winner on Sunday. In fact some how it finished up being winning week 2.40 pts profit.

Saturdays best bets (king George day)

King George day at Ascot ,though disappointing turn out with only six runners, Workforce looks most likely winner, though an interesting race not betting race for me.plenty racing as usual on Saturday with six cards though just going concentrate on the one race the group three Princess Margaret stakes at Ascot.

6F GROUP 3 PRINCESS MARGARET STAKES ASCOT 2.40
SORAAYA: Easy winner on debut at Hamilton in 6f maiden race ,ran very good second last time in G2 Cherry Hinton at Newmarket behind Memory beaten under 1 Lengh after being badly hampered at start, that form has already been boosted by 5TH horse Lily Again winning Listed race at Sandown on Thursday ,looks open to plenty improvement after just the two starts.

Margot Did looks the obvious danger after only beaten head by Memory at Royal Ascot in Albany stakes and looks very closely matched with SORAAYA on form, though at prices SORAAYA looks better value at around 7-2.

summary of days bets

Trip the light in 8.00 York ,just about some's up every think at minute, commentator Mark Johnstone  reports after 3 furlongs  the saddle has slipped well forward on TRIP THE LIGHT and will do well to finish the race  (finished 5TH),then you think to yourself  " what else can go wrong"

Every bet at minute seems to be running terribly for one reason or another..The afternoon bet Alsace Lorraine never looked like winning finishing well beaten third ,probably blessing in disguise that LES FAZZANI was withdrawn from 7.30 ,though another 5PTS loss.

Fridays best bets

Slightly disappointing that Crying Lightening could only manage third yesterday after subject of huge gamble 5-1 into 5-2, just seemed to get going too late after being slowly away,in the end happy to get e-way money.

Friday's racing we have six meetings with the start of Ascot three day meeting and decent looking evening card at York.

8F LISTED STAKES ASCOT 3.20

ALSACE LORRAINE :Excellent 4TH last time in group 2 Windsor Forest stakes at Royal Ascot behind Strawberrydaiquiri and Spacious only beaten 4 lenghs..Won decent class 2 handicap over C/D at Ascot on seasonal reappearance of mark 92.This doesn't look the strongest of listed races and should take plenty beating for in form James Fanshawe

10F LISTED STAKES FILLIES & MARES YORK 7.30

LES FAZZANI:Tough and consistent mare who has excellent record in listed races winning 4 times. Not disgraced last time in G2 Lancashire Oaks finishing 4TH on fast ground.Drop back into listed company will suit.

12F CLAIMING STAKES CLASS 4 YORK 8.00

TRIP THE LIGHT:Dual C/D winner at York, with good strike rate on turf ( 9 wins from 27 starts) won twice this season including class 3 handicap at Catterick, will appreciate the drop back into claiming company.

Thursdays best bets

Plenty racing on Thursday with six meetings, though with heavy showers forecast we can expect ground conditions to change.Sandown looks the best quality card with 2-Y-0  listed race and two class 3 handicaps.Going concentrate on Just the one race the listed contest 3.20 at Sandown.

7F 2-Y-0 LISTED STAKES SANDOWN 3.20

CRYING LIGHTENING :Landed Leicester maiden on debut over 5F ,showed improved form last time finishing good 6TH OF 22 (staying on well towards finish) in the 6F group 3 Albany stakes at Royal Ascot behind the very useful Memory.should improve stepping up to 7F.

The Richard Hannon trained Admirable Spirit looks the obvious danger after winning decent maiden at Newbury last time, though will need to show improvement to win this listed contest and at the prices CRYING LIGHTNING looks the fair value at 5-1 with Paddy Power.

Wednesday's Rain Rain Rain

Its going be very difficult day on Wednesday with so much rain about, Catterick have had 32mm rain overnight and with more rain forecast the ground is going be very testing.

Sandown and Leicester report good/firm ground though both cards are evening fixtures, and there's still plenty time for ground to change. With doubts about the ground conditions its not worth getting involved on Wednesday. We have some quality racing coming up starting on Friday with the start of Ascot's three day King George meeting and then next week the start of five day Glorious Goodwood meeting.

Blank Tuesday

Again poor start to the week with both bets on Monday running very poorly loss 5pts ,not sure what's gone wrong in July though figures don't lie (loss 33pts) so far this month ( 2 winners from 22 bets)

Over 12 month period these losing runs will happen , so not too concerned though need to establish why this has happened in July (normally very profitable month).

Tuesday's racing looks very average and nothing of interest.

summary of the weeks bets!!

The poor run continues on Sunday no winners from two bets,SHE'S OUR MARK looked bit unlucky could never get clear run, once in clear finished very strongly for third and would gone very close with clear run.No excuses for MEEZNAH had every chance though was totally outclassed by the impressive 8 lengh winner SNOW FAIRY who seems to be improving with every run and handled this softer ground really well.

Sundays best bets (Irish Oaks day)

Only the one meeting of interest on Sunday the Curragh stage very decent card which includes the Irish Oaks and interesting listed race.

12F IRISH OAKS GROUP ONE CURRAGH 3.40
MEEZNAH:Fast improving filly ran excellent second in the Epsom Oaks only beaten neck behind Snow Fairy and is fancied to reverse form with that rival on this stiffer track MEEZNAH looks more of stayer and this track will suit her far better than Epsom. The main danger could be Hibaayeb who showed a lot of improvement stepping up to 12F last time when impressive winner of Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot .

9F LISTED STAKES FILLIES&MARES CURRAGH  3.05
SHE'S OUR MARK:Tough and consistent mare ,won this race last year in good style beating Latin Love by 2 Lenghs ,has some useful form this season won listed race in April beating odds on favourite Fame and Glory ,and finished very good second behind Chinese White in early may ,has to concede weight all round though looks the class act here.

Saturdays best bets

I made the right decision to take the last week off, the racing over the past week has been very average, with some very poor low grade racing. After having such bad week the week before last, it often pays to take short break from betting and get all those negative thoughts out of the system.

On to Saturday we have plenty racing with six meetings though the main meeting at Newbury looks by far the best card with two very interesting races the 6F Shadwell stakes group 3 contest and 10F Shadwell beech stakes listed race.

Bad Bad Bad Week

Can't remember worse week this year, NO WINNERS FROM 10 BETS and loss 23PTS.Thats put big dent into this years profit.(was +68.35PTS) (now + 45.45 PTS)

Newmarket has been horrendous for me this week, 6 BETS no winners over the three day's and Just two seconds and loss there of 15PTS. Its difficult to understand why I've done so bad this week at Newmarket ,as I seemed to be in good form having had three winning weeks in row?? (Big shock to me Newmarket normally a meeting I do particularly well at.)

I have Decided no point in chasing losses on Saturday, and with next weeks racing looking very average it seems good time to regroup and take short break.(Will be back in 10 days time on Monday 19TH July.)

Thursdays best bets(Newmarket July festival day 2)

Three point loss on Wednesday after the only bet Lillie Langtry, could only manage a disappointing 5TH ,behind impressive winner Music Show ,hard to understand why she ran so poorly here after winning Coronation stakes at Royal Ascot when she had Music Show 4L behind??

On to day two of Newmarket July festival , with the highlight being group 2 Prince of Wales stakes & group two July stakes.

12F PRINCE WALES STAKES GROUP 2 NEWMARKET 3.10
SPANISH MOON:Top class performer ,won twice last season in France including Group one Grand Prix de Saint Cloud & Group two Prix Foy beating the useful Vision D'Etat.Decent third on seasonal reappearance at Meydan in Group one behind Dar Re Mi.(only beaten 1L),takes drop in class here into Group two company and should outclass this field.

4PTS WIN AT 15-8 BET365 ,HILLS. (UNPLACED)

6F CONDITION STAKES CLASS 2 NEWMARKET 3.45
LORD OF THE STARS:C/D winner in 6F maiden landing a gamble on July course beating the Paddyman by 1/2 Lengh ,form been boosted by second winning next time at Yarmouth by 8 Lenghs.Looks open to plenty of improvement and should go well at decent odds.

Wednesday's best bets (Newmarket July Festival)

Disappointing day on Tuesday with loss 5pts, both bets running poorly in particular Flora Trevelyan in listed race heavily backed from 13-8 into 4-6 , there looked no excuses simply not good enough (led over 1F out but was soon headed) and could only manage disappointing 4TH.

On to Wednesday's racing the start July festival at Newmarket with the highlight being the group one Falmouth stakes and group two Cherry Hinton stakes ,the other races on the card look very competitive including three very tough looking handicaps.Just going with the one bet in Falmouth stakes.

8F FALMOUTH STAKES GROUP ONE 3.10 NEWMARKET

LILLIE LANGTRY :Decent filly ,winning three times as 2-Y-0 ,though has shown far better form as 3-Y-0, finishing unlucky in running 5TH in Irish 1000 Guineas ,and then impressive winner of Coronation stakes at Royal Ascot (well on top at finish) ,still looks to be improving .

3PTS WIN AT 9-4 LADBROKES ,HILLS (UNPLACED)

summary of the weeks horse racing bets!!

Good end to the week with (Atlantic beach winning at 15-8) though slightly disappointing Mawatheeq had to be withdrawn after late support .Not complaining though, another solid winning week making that three winning weeks in row.

I have updated the month to month record and quite pleased how the year has gone so far after five months, 68 pts in profit.Looking back at the results the only real bad spell was two week period in middle May, when I had real bad run of results losing over 26pts,though I did recover towards the end of  May so it could been lot worse.

The figures read as follows:

ON THE WEEK :

Saturdays best bets

One winner from 2 bets on Friday (Pendragon winning at 13-8)  for 4.60pt profit ,the other bet Prince Siegfried ran well in second just getting out battled near the finish.

On to Saturday's racing we have six meetings with Sandown by far the best card which includes the G1 coral eclipse the G3 coral charge stakes, and two listed contests. With so much racing on Saturday's ,its impossible to analyse six meetings in depth ,so just going to mainly concentrate at Sandown & Beverley and I have three bets.

CORAL ECLIPSE GROUP ONE 10F SANDOWN 3.10
MAWATHEEQ:Big improver last season winning Cumberland lodge stakes G3 at Ascot in September then running his best race when close second behind Twice over in G1 champion stakes.Badly needed the race on his seasonal reappearance after meeting setback in early Feb.Very closely matched with Twice Over on Champion stakes form should go well at decent odds.

1PT E-WAY AT 6-1 BET365

CORAL DISTAFF LISTED RACE SANDOWN 3.40
LADY DARSHAN:Slightly disappointing 4th last time in listed race at Newbury, though failed to stay 10F( weakened 1F out) drop back to 8F will suit here, and reproduction of her second in last season's Fillies mile G1 at Ascot  or her 6TH in Irish 1000 guineas would  be good enough to take this ordinary listed contest.

1PT E-WAY AT 3-1 BET365

HANDICAP 5F CLASS 4 BEVERLEY 3.50
ATLANTIC BEACH:Good winner of 5F class 4 handicap at Carlisle last time beating Noodles Blue Boy by 1.25 Lenghs ,seem to show improved form for new trainer D.O'MEARA and can confirm the form.

Fridays best bets

No luck at Yarmouth on Thursday in fact both bets ran very poorly both unplaced loss 4.5pts,though Yarmouth being my local track, its always been track that I seem struggle to find winners, which is bit strange as its very fair flat track though the quality there now is very poor mainly class 5 or class 6 races, maybe the reason I do so poor there.

On to Friday's racing we have five flat cards Sandown being the best of bunch with two fair listed contests.

PRINCE SIEGFRIED:4.00 SANDOWN
Useful type winning twice last season at Newmarket and listed race at Ayr making all both times only 4TH on reappearance  at Sandown in Brigadier Gerard stakes(looked in need of run )behind Stotsfold though meets that rival on 6lb better terms.and back in listed company should go well.

1PT WIN AT (5.2)   BETFAIR
1PT PLACE AT(1.85) BETFAIR

PENDRAGON: 7.55 BEVERLEY
Excellent second last time in Cumberland plate at Carlisle over 1 mile 3f only beaten 0.50 lengh by Brushing, also good second on reappearance at Haydock only beaten short head.still looks well handicapped of 75 (goes up 6lb on Saturday)drop back in to 1 mile 2f will suit.

3PTS WIN 13-8 SKYBET

Thursdays best bets

Good day on Wednesday with both bets winning at 7-2 & 9-2 for 9.60pt profit.Catterick seems quite lucky track for me and nice to get another couple winners :)

On to Thursdays racing we have five flat cards with Newbury's evening fixture looking best card.I will be in attendance at my local track Yarmouth ,though not the greatest card we do have couple interesting races.

HANDICAP 7F CLASS 5 YARMOUTH 3.10
TELL HALAF:Very unlucky 3RD last time at Lingfield in class 5 handicap over 8f ,(would won with clear run, blocked in behind wall horses) only beaten 1.5 lenghs ,won 7F handicap at Lingfield in early May, and finished fair second at Newmarket two runs back.Michael Bell has fantastic record this season at Yarmouth 83%, 5 out 6.

2.5 PTS WIN AT 2-1 STAN JAMES B.P.G

HANDICAP 10F CLASS 5 YARMOUTH 4.40
ROCKY'S PRIDE:Bolted up by 5 Lenghs in claimer last time at Leicester over 10f  ,ran fair second the time before in Handicap at Lingfield finishing 2 Lengh second behind Dancing Jest of 67 only 3lb higher here should go well at decent odds.

1PT E-WAY AT 6-1 BETFRED ,HILLS B.P.G

CONDITION STAKES 7F CLASS 2 NEWBURY 7.35
LORD SHANAKILL: Class act in this company ,third in group one Lockinge stakes behind Paco Boy in May only beaten 4 Lenghs ,won group one,Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly last July ,takes huge drop in class here into class 2 conditions race ,should be hard to beat.
